For the second-straight week, the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team is receiving votes in this week's NJCAA Division I Rankings, released on Monday.

After a 2-1 week against three Jayhawk Conference opponents, the Blue Dragons are 10-5 overall.

This week, Hutchinson travels to Salina to meet the Kansas Wesleyan junior varsity at 6:30 p.m.

The Blue Dragons play host to four strong teams in the Blue Dragon Volleyball Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons play Spartanburg Methodist at 2 p.m. and No. 17 Indian Hills at 6 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons take on Iowa Western at 10 a.m. Saturday and closes out the tournament with Minera Area College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The Blue Dragons and Barton are the only two teams from the KJCCC with mentions in the latest national poll. Both the Dragons and Cougars are receiving votes.

Florida Southwestern State, Miami Dade and New Mexico Junior College remain the top three teams in the poll. Former Blue Dragon opponents Navarro and Northeastern Junior College are No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Weatherford, another past Blue Dragon opponent is No. 8 this week.

The Blue Dragons started the season ranked No. 19 in the preseason poll, but dropped out after a 2-2 weekend at the McCook Invitational. The Dragons have been receiving votes for the past two polling periods.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Milt Mounts, owner of Essential Images Photography in Wichita, will present to the Hutchinson Rotary Club on Monday, Sept. 18 at noon.

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) on Wednesday announced the members of his 2023 Service Academy Selection Board. The board will review applications and interview candidates who are applying for admission to the U.S. Service Academies. 

This group will include Calvin Wright of Hutchinson – Vice President/Chief Information Officer, Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Applicants will be interviewed by the selection board on Saturday, September 30, at Wichita State University. The U.S. Service Academies include the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

“Nominating Kansas students to attend our service academies is one of my greatest honors as a U.S. Senator, and I appreciate the men and women who help with that selection by serving on the Service Academy Board,” said Sen. Moran. “The young Kansans applying for the academies demonstrate both academic success and a desire to dedicate their lives to serving their country. Hutchinson man part of Sen. Moran's 2023 Service Academy Selection Board

Elizabeth Rene Bailey, 33, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 11, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Elizabeth was born in Topeka, Kansas on June 10, 1990, the daughter of Stephen and Connie (Sitts) Bailey.

Elizabeth attended Roosevelt grade school, McPherson Junior High and McPherson High School. She then attended Hutchinson Community College, where she earned her Associates Degree in Business.

Through the years she worked as a restaurant manager. Elizabeth enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her mother, Connie Bailey (David Swick) of McPherson, Kansas; fiancé, Erik Ward of Enid, Oklahoma; step daughter, Sonya Metzger of Hutchinson, Kansas; grandmother, Elizabeth Alejos of Kansas City, Kansas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father, Stephen Bailey and her sister Aspen.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 am on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home in McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Nathan Markley officiating.

Linda L. (Niedens) Banz, 78, died September 9, 2023, at Legend of Hutchinson. She was born August 8, 1945, in Dodge City, to Leo Alexander and Elsie Louise (Maier) Niedens. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Linda grew up on a farm between Dodge City and Jetmore. &nbsp;After graduating Dodge City High School in 1963, she attended Adela Hale School of Business in Hutchinson. &nbsp;Upon graduation from business college, Linda worked as a secretary at Far-Mar-Co, then located in the downtown Hutchinson Wiley building. &nbsp;She was a lightning-fast typist with mad shorthand skills. &nbsp;Far-Mar-Co merged with Farmland and Linda was promoted to various accounting positions. &nbsp;She retired from Doskocil/Tyson, where she managed accounts payable.

Linda enjoyed following many sports, including car racing, football, basketball, and her number one team, the Kansas State Wildcats. &nbsp;Art fairs, shopping, traveling, and maintaining a meticulous home were also some of her other enjoyments. &nbsp;Linda was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp;

On February 4, 1973, Linda married Gary Joseph Banz, in Hutchinson. They shared 50 years of marriage before he died March 11, 2023.&nbsp;

Linda is survived by: &nbsp;stepson, Brad Banz (Angie); siblings, Lonnie Niedens (Kathy) and Loetta Walker (Sonny); step grandchildren, Kyle Banz (Savanna) and Melissa Myer (Vernon); five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; nephew, Darin Walker, and niece, Christina Walker.

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman, in the little Chapel. &nbsp;(Parking for the little Chapel is on the east side of the church). &nbsp;Inurnment will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;Cremation has taken place.

Following a 27-2 road victory at No. 5 Iowa Central on Saturday, the top-ranked Hutchinson Blue Dragons swept the Week 3 KJCCC Player of the Week awards.

Quarterback Samari Collier was named the KJCCC's Offensive Player of the Week. After tying a school-single-game record for interceptions, freshman Ryan Nolan was named the Defensive Player of the Week. Blue Dragon punter Stefaan Forbes was tapped as the Special Teams' Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Samari Collier Hutchinson redshirt freshman quarterback Samari Collier became the first Blue Dragon quarterback to rush and pass for 100 yards since 2018 to lead the No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons to a 27-2 road victory at No. 5 Iowa Central. Collier completed 11 of 20 passes for 176 yards with a pair of 16-yard touchdown passes. He rushed for 107 yards on 14 carries, including a 29-yard touchdown run after breaking containment. OTHERS NOMINATED: Curtis Riordon, Dodge City; Benson Prosper, Highland.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Ryan Nolan Blue Dragon freshman safety Ryan Nolan tied a Blue Dragon single-game record with three interceptions in No. 1 Hutchinson's 27-2 victory at No. 5 Iowa Central on Saturday. All three of Nolan's interceptions came in the third quarter. The three picks tied Jaylon Myers' who had three interceptions in 2014 against Coffeyville. In addition to his three picks, Nolan broke up three other passes and has three total tackles. Nolan is now tied for the national lead with three interceptions and five passes broken up. OTHERS NOMINATED: Jaden Kelly, Dodge City; Mike Hourel, Highland.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Stefaan Forbes Blue Dragon sophomore punter had 104 yards that were key to No. 1 Hutchinson's 27-2 victory at No. 5 Iowa Central. Forbes punted only twice but for 104 net yards and a 52.0 yard-per-punt average. With the game in the balance in the first half, Forbes had two punts downs at the Iowa Central 1 and 10 yard lines. The Dragons led only 10-2 at halftime thanks to Forbes changing the game with his perfect field-possession punts. OTHERS NOMINATED: Eddie Whipple, Highland.

For the week, Delgado scored three goals and is now tied for the national lead with 11. Her biggest goal of the season came in the 86th minute of a home battle with No. 9 Butler on Wednesday. Trailing 1-0, Delgado lofted a shot from 25 yards out the sneaked under the crossbar for a game-tying goal and a 2-2 tie with the Grizzlies. Delgado scored a pair of goals in the Blue Dragons 4-1 road victory over Coffeyville.

Slothower is now 6-0-2 with five shutouts, a 0.38 goals-against average and a save percentage of .917

The Hutchinson Community College football team is back on the road Saturday to face another nationally ranked opponent as the No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons travel to play the fifth-ranked Iowa Central Tritons in a noon kickoff at Dodger Stadium in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 11:30 a.m. with Countdown to Kickoff. Glen Grunwald (play-by-play), Daren Dunn (color) and Sean Boston (sidelines) will have the call. The game will be streamed exclusively on Iowa Central's YouTube channel.

This will be the second-straight season the Blue Dragons (2-0) and Tritons (2-0) meet as ranked teams. Last season the Blue Dragons were No. 2 and Tritons No. 7 as Hutchinson prevailed 31-28 in overtime after&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2023-24/bios/segraves_cole_l712">Cole Segraves</a>' 39-yard walk-off field goal at Gowans Stadium.

No. 1 for a second-straight week, the Blue Dragons own two decisive victories over No. 11 Navarro (42-6) and unranked Ellsworth (72-7). Iowa Central has knocked off Independence (28-15) and No. 5 Garden City (30-20), rallying from a 13-point deficit.

The Blue Dragons racked up 441 rushing yards while holding Ellsworth to a negative-53 yards.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2023-24/bios/reed_jr._tyrell_3b4y">Tyrell Reed Jr.</a>&nbsp;went for 171 yards on the ground on just nine carries with three touchdowns.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2023-24/bios/shaw_amaris_6jge">Amaris Shaw</a>&nbsp;rushed for 139 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns.

Iowa Central quarterback Justin Silverstein led the Triton comeback against Garden City last week throwing for 200 yards and three touchdowns on 22 of 44 passing. Receiver Mario Sanders had six catches for 106 yards and three touchdowns, including a game-tying 16-yard touchdown catch late in the third quarter.

Blue Dragon head coach Drew Dallas will be coaching in his 34th game on the Hutchinson sideline. The matchup against No. 5 Iowa Central will be 16th against a ranked opponent. The Blue Dragons are 13-2 against ranked opponents under Dallas, going 10-2 against foes ranked in the NJCAA Top 10.

After Saturday's game in Iowa, the Blue Dragons will have the first of two bye weeks next Saturday before opening Jayhawk Conference play on September 23 against Coffeyville at home.

In addition to the return of&nbsp;Brandon Branch&nbsp;and&nbsp;Jaycee Cruz, Tang welcomes former walk-on&nbsp;Nate Awbrey, former South Plains College, Louisiana-Monroe and Maine student-athlete&nbsp;Chris Efretuei&nbsp;and former North Texas head student manager&nbsp;Jarad Hollis&nbsp;to his staff.

The trio join a 2023-24 coaching staff that includes Tang, associate head coach&nbsp;Ulric Maligi, assistant coaches&nbsp;Jareem Dowling&nbsp;and&nbsp;Rodney Perry, Chief of Staff&nbsp;Marco Borne, Special Assistant to the Head Coach&nbsp;Anthony Winchester, Director of Player Development&nbsp;Austin Carpenter, Director of Men’s Basketball Operations&nbsp;Bailey Bachamp, Director of Video and Analytics&nbsp;Franklin Miskelly, Strength coach&nbsp;Phil Baier&nbsp;and Ice Family Basketball Center Sports Medicine Coordinator&nbsp;Luke Sauber.

Winchester and Borne were both elevated to on-court roles after the NCAA passed legislation allowing two extra on-court coaches in men’s and women’s basketball in 2023-24. Miskelly is the only new full-time staff member after serving two years as a graduate assistant at his alma mater Mississippi State, where he helped the Bulldogs to the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Nate Awbrey&nbsp;(Manhattan Christian College ’22) A Manhattan native, Awbrey is in his first season as a graduate student manager in 2023-24 after playing his final season of eligibility as a walk-on at K-State in 2022-23. He played in 10 games for the Wildcats, helping the squad win 26 games and advance to the Elite Eight. He was also a member of the NABC Honors Court.

Awbrey transferred to K-State from Manhattan (Kan.) Christian College, which plays in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). He was part of Thunder teams that advanced to three NCCAA National Tournaments (2020, 2021, 2022), including the Final Four in 2022. He also won three consecutive Midwest Christian College Conference Championships (2020, 2021, 2022), back-to-back Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament titles (2021, 2022) and the 2020 NCCAA SW Regional Tournament Championship.

Awbrey saw action in 95 games in his 4-year career at MCC, averaging 10.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He became the 26th player in Thunder history to score 1,000 points, finishing with 1,032 points. He was twice named to the NCCAA All-Southwest Region Second Team (2018-19, 2020-21) and three times to the All-Midwest Christian College All-Conference Team, including the Second Team in 2018-19 and 2020-21.

An outstanding student, Awbrey was a two-time NCCAA Scholar-Athlete (2020-21 and 2021-22) as well as a finalist for the NCCAA Pete Maravich Award. He was also a 3-time recipient of the MCC Team Christian Athlete of the Year (2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22).

Awbrey earned a bachelor’s degree in Bible and Christian Ministry with an emphasis in Youth Ministry from Manhattan Christian College in May 2022. He is working towards a master’s degree in community development.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Chris Efretuei&nbsp;(Louisiana-Monroe ’21, Maine ‘22) At a towering 7-foot-1, Efretuei&nbsp;(pronounced EFF-ruh-TOO-ee)&nbsp;might be the tallest graduate assistant in the country. He joins the staff after spending one season (2022-23) as a graduate assistant at new Big 12 foe BYU, where he helped the Cougars post a 19-15 record, including a 7-9 mark in WCC play.

The native of Abuja, Nigeria played in 72 games with 59 starts at Louisiana-Monroe (2019-21) for head coach&nbsp;Keith Richard&nbsp;and at Maine (2021-22) for head coach&nbsp;Richard Barron&nbsp;after a two-year stint (2017-19) playing for Hall of Fame coach&nbsp;Steve Green&nbsp;at NJCAA power South Plains College in Levelland, Texas.

Most of Efretuei’s starts came while playing at ULM, where he averaged 5.1 points on 54.5 percent shooting with 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 19.2 minutes per game in starting 50 of 53 games. He ranked in the Sun Belt Conference’s top-10 in blocks both seasons (2019-20 and 2020-21) at ULM, including sixth (1.2 bpg.) as a senior in 2020-21. His best season as a Warhawk came as a junior in 2019-20, where he averaged 5.4 points and 5.0 rebounds in starting 26 of 28 games played.

Efretuei took advantage of his final year of eligibility at Maine in 2021-22, where he averaged 3.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 19 games with 9 starts for the Black Bears. Overall, he averaged 4.6 points on 52.8 percent shooting in his 72-game Division I career with 3.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 16.9 minutes per game.

Efretuei is no stranger to the Sunflower State, having played in consecutive NJCAA Final Four (2018, 2019) at the national tournament in Hutchinson as a player at South Plains, including the national championship as a freshman.

He helped the Texans to a 56-14 record, including a 98-95 win over Southern Idaho to claim the 2018 NJCAA National Championship.

Efretuei prepped at Fort Love Christian Academy in Pittsburgh.

Efretuei earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from ULM in 2021 then added a bachelor’s in journalism from Maine in 2022. He is working towards a master’s in counseling and student development at K-State.

Jarad Hollis&nbsp;(North Texas ’23) A native of Monroe, La., Hollis joins the staff after serving the last 4 seasons (2019-23) as the head manager for&nbsp;Grant McCasland&nbsp;at North Texas.

During Hollis’ time at UNT, the Mean Green enjoyed one of the greatest stretches in school history, totaling 94 victories to go along with one NIT Championship (2023), one NCAA Tournament appearance (2021), two NIT appearances (2022, 2023), two Conference USA regular-season championships (2020 and 2022) and one C-USA Tournament title (2021). In all, the squad compiled a 94-35 (.729) overall record, including a 55-15 (.786) mark in league action.

Hollis was part of some of the school’s greatest moments, including the first-ever C-USA regular-season championship in 2020, the historic overtime 78-69 victory over fourth-seeded Purdue in the 2021 NCAA Tournament as well as the school-record 31-7 record and first-ever NIT Championship in 2022-23.

Prior to North Texas, Hollis spent time at Navarro College, where he earned an associate degree in general studies in 2019. He earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from North Texas in 2023. He is working towards a master’s in counseling and student development at K-State.

Branch (a native of Memphis, Tenn.) and Cruz (a native of Toronto) were part of a coaching staff that helped the Wildcats win 26 games and advance to the Elite Eight in 2022-23.

The trio replace three graduate assistants from last season’s staff –&nbsp;Jeremie Hart&nbsp;(New Mexico State),&nbsp;Curtis Kelly&nbsp;(UTRGV) and&nbsp;Matthew Parker&nbsp;(American) – who all earned full-time coaching positions in the offseason.

Starting with defensive back Jerry Jacobs on Thursday night in Kansas City, there are 10 former Hutchinson Community College football players on NFL Opening Day Rosters for the 2023 season.

Jacobs, who plays for the Detroit Lions, opens the 2023 NFL season on Thursday night against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Former Blue Dragons will be on both sidelines Thursday night as former Hutchinson head coach Andy Hill (1994-95) is now a special teams assistant for the Chiefs.

As the 2023 NFL season starts this week, there are 10 former Blue Dragons on active rosters, four more former Dragons on NFL developmental squads and four former coaches now working in the league.

The longest-tenured former Blue Dragon in the NFL is All-American Cordarrelle Patterson, who begins his third season with the Atlanta Falcons and 11th overall professional season.

Patterson, who played at Hutchinson in 2010 and 2011 before moving on to Tennessee, is still one of the most feared kickoff return specialists in the NFL. He has nine career returns for touchdowns and averages 29.5 yards per return. Patterson owns an NFL record that can never be broken after he returned a kickoff 109 yards in his rookie season of 2013.

The newest member of the Blue Dragon Club in the NFL is Las Vegas Raiders' defensive back Jakorian Bennett, who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Another NFL rookie is receiver Mitchell Tinsley, who was an undrafted free agent signee by the Washington Commanders.

The Green Bay Packers have a pair of former Blue Dragons in All-Pro linebacker Devondre Campbell and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt.

Campbell begins his eighth season overall and his third with the Packers. Campbell was one of Green Bay's top tacklers last season with 96 tackles. He started his career in 2016 with the Falcons. Wyatt is still the highest-drafted Blue Dragon, going to the Packers in the first round with the 28th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

One of the most successful former Blue Dragons in the NFL will begin his season on the suspended list. Alvin Kamara will begin his seventh season with the New Orleans Saints in 2023. Kamara has rushed for 5,135 yards and has 3,753 receiving yards with 71 career touchdowns.

Ten former Blue Dragons on week one NFL rosters

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College is in the process of updating its main campus. Much of that work happened this summer.

Updates to HCC's main campus include a renovated foyer area by the student center, additional sidewalk space for water drainage and a space called the "green area" in the middle of campus. Once a donor is named, the green area will be renamed.&nbsp;

"We think it's going to add to the overall aesthetics of the community," said HutchCC President Dr. Carter File. "We hope it gives community members more space. We are a community college and the college is owned by the community. We want them to utilize that space."&nbsp;

So far, Prairie Landworks Inc. has constructed an outdoor amphitheater between Lockman Hall and Speare Hall and Gowans Stadium. Artificial greens will be laid out around the amphitheater and in front of it.&nbsp;

Four tennis courts with a surrounding fence were taken down to make room for two pickleball courts. A walkway was also constructed to make room for food trucks, flower beds and additional lighting.&nbsp;

File said the green space can be used by anyone in the community for events or leisure activities. He said the lighted walkway will help address campus safety.

&nbsp; "Not that we have a problem with safety, but from time to time there's a concern that our campus didn't have enough light and now this path is going to be lit from dark until dawn," File said.&nbsp;

Off campus updates and upcoming projects include additional space added to the Peel Center for nursing training and simulation space. The cosmetology school also has plans to add extra space for a barber school in the coming year.&nbsp;

HutchCC updating campus as offerings expand

Zelpha Jeanine Franzmann, age 66, entered her heavenly home on August 31, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, Zha Zha, sister, and friend.

Zelpha was born June 29, 1957, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Harold Q. Johnson and Geraldine Victoria Elizabeth (Smith) Johnson. Zelpha married Chris L. Franzmann June 10, 1989 in Carrollton, Texas. The couple had five children: Katie Quinn Franzmann, William Caleb Franzmann (Jess Ackerman), Hallie Elizabeth Deschamps (Joseph Deschamps), John Merritt Franzmann (Rachel Franzmann), and Caroline Grace Franzmann.

Zelpha graduated from Haven High School. From there, Zelpha completed a two-year program at St. John’s College of Winfield Kansas and finished at Kansas State University majoring in Accounting. She began her accounting career as a field auditor and later became a staff accountant while earning her CPA. In 1986, Zelpha moved to Dallas to become a Controller for a hotel management company. She began to attend Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Carrollton where she met Chris at an adult singles Bible study.

Zelpha was a piano and organ player as well as a choir member. She became chief logistics officer and advocate while carting our five kids to baseball, soccer, swimming, basketball, plays, mock trial, and many other events. After first sending her kids to private school, Zelpha switched gears and dove into becoming a homeschool mom, pouring her heart and skills into her kids and various homeschool groups in both the Dallas and Houston areas. Zelpha led the high school section of Faith COOP of Northwest Houston as a board member; later she led as the board President and self-imposed dress code enforcer. After homeschool life was over, she became an Accountant for Northwest Anesthesia where she enjoyed a reprise on her accounting career. Zelpha was many things: a beloved wife, wonderful mother, great chef, stellar hostess, creative quilter, deep friend to those in all of her orbits, always found by her infectious laugh and zest for life. Zelpha poured her love into everyone she came to know. Underlying all of the above, Zelpha was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and the power of His love, as well as a tremendous prayer warrior.

Zelpha is survived by her husband, Chris; children, Katie Franzmann, Caleb Franzmann (Jess Ackerman), Hallie Deschamps (Joseph Deschamps), Merritt Franzmann (Rachel Franzmann), Caroline Franzmann; granddaughter, Charlotte Noelle Deschamps; mother, Irma Alpers; siblings, Sherry Waggoner, Iver Johnson, William Newton (Jann Newton), Mark Johnson (Colleen Johnson), Jeanne Miles (Kent Miles), Thomas Newton (Jeannie Newton), Starla Stoppel (Mark Stoppel), Garth Johnson (Sherri Johnson), Adola Stocker (Kirk Stocker), Theresa Higbie (Heath Higbie); brother-in-law, Andrew Stephen Franzmann (Ilene Franzmann), along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Zelpha was preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by her parents, Harold and Geraldine Johnson; niece Geraldine Johnson; and sister-in-law, Nancy Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Salem Lutheran Church, Tomball, Texas on Thursday, September 7, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will be Saturday, September 9, 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Haven, Kansas.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — More than $500 million in unclaimed property and a chance to win $529 into a Learning Quest 529 education savings account will be offered at the State Treasurer’s Office booth at this year’s Kansas State Fair, according to State Treasurer Steven Johnson.

“We are excited to bring the State Treasurer’s Office to the Kansas State Fair once again this year,” Johnson said. “We invite all fair-goers to stop by our booth in the Meadowlark Building to search their name in our unclaimed property database, and enter our giveaway to win $529 into a Learning Quest 529 education savings account for themselves or a loved one.”

Johnson’s office administers the state’s unclaimed property program, which currently holds more than $500 million waiting to be claimed. One in 10 people is estimated to have unclaimed property, which could include unpaid life insurance benefits, forgotten bank accounts, and safe deposit boxes. One in 10 people is estimated to have unclaimed property, which could include unpaid life insurance benefits, forgotten bank accounts, and safe deposit boxes. Treasurer: Search for unclaimed property; enter to win $529 at Kansas State Fair

The 25th all-time women's soccer meeting between Hutchinson Community College and Butler lived up to the some of the top games ever played in one of the Jayhawk Conference's top rivalries regardless of sport.

<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wsoc/2023-24/bios/delgado_adriana_03x3">Adriana Delgado</a>&nbsp;scored the game-tying goal with 3:31 to play in the second half and the No. 16 Blue Dragons rallied to earn a huge 1-1 draw with the No. 9-ranked Grizzlies on Wednesday at the Salthawk Sports Complex. This was the first draw in series history.

For just the third time since 2010, the Blue Dragons earned a point from a Top 10-ranked team. The last time was a 2-2 draw against No. 6 Kansas City in 2021.

The Blue Dragons improve to 5-0-2 overall and 2-0-2 (eight points) in the Jayhawk Conference. Butler is now 1-1-4 and 0-1-3 (3 points) in the KJCCC. The Blue Dragons travel to Coffeyville on Saturday.

Down 1-0 entering the later stages of the second half, the Blue Dragons hadn't created much offense in the second half with just one shot on goal that occurred in the first minute of the half.

<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wsoc/2023-24/bios/mayumi_tatiana_l7lq">Tatiana Mayumi</a>&nbsp;worked a ball through some open field in the middle third and looked to chip a pass into the penalty area. Instead, the Grizzlies deflected the ball right to Delgado, who lobbed a shot from 22 yards out just under the cross bar and over the hand of Butler goalkeeper Carla Apodaca with the game-tying goal with 3:31 to play in the second half.

The draw was preserved after Blue Dragon goalkeeper&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wsoc/2023-24/bios/slothower_karsyn_3puo">Karsyn Slothower</a>&nbsp;came up with a huge save, the Dragon defense blocked another shot and the Grizzlies didn't convert on a corner kick in the final minute.

Slothower made seven critical saves in the match to improve to 5-0-2 for the season, five saves coming in the second half.

Slothower made two saves in the first half and the Grizzlies' Sakiko Manabe stuck a shot off the crossbar with 12 seconds to play in the half to take a scoreless tie into halftime.

Butler scored the first goal, which was set up from a corner kick. After initially missing on the corner, Emma Kolbe sent a cross into the box that was headed of the right post by Alayna Runck. The ball rolled parallel down the goal line and Runck beat Slothower to the loose ball and knocked it into the goal with 27:02 to play.

The Blue Dragons were out-shot 25-14. Butler's Apodaca made four saves.

Delgado, who earlier in the day was named the NJCAA National Division I Player of the Week, scored her ninth goal of the season.

CONCORDIA –&nbsp;<a href="https://hutchinson.prestosports.com/sports/wvball/2023-24/bios/golden_taniya_wjj0">Taniya Golden</a>&nbsp;paced the offense and libero&nbsp;<a href="https://hutchinson.prestosports.com/sports/wvball/2023-24/bios/rollandini_isabella_ircy">Isabella Rollandini</a>&nbsp;led a tremendous back-row defense as the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team won its fifth match in a row on Wednesday.

Hutchinson remained unbeaten in conference play after a 25-14, 25-18, 25-19 KJCCC road victory over Cloud County at the Thunderdome.

The Blue Dragons improved to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the Jayhawk Conference. Cloud County is now 9-3 overall and 1-2 in the league. Hutchinson plays four matches this weekend in the Weatherford Tournament, starting with Western Texas at 9 a.m. on Friday.

Golden had a match-high 12 kills and hit .235 with nine digs to lead the Blue Dragons. Hutchinson hit .186 for the match

The Blue Dragons out-hit Cloud County .273-minus-.067 and rolled to a 25-14 lead.SET 2: Cloud County led 7-5, but a 4-0 run capped by a Golden kill turned that deficit into a 9-7 lead. Tied at 10-all, a Cloud attack error gave the Dragons the lead for good.&nbsp;<a href="https://hutchinson.prestosports.com/sports/wvball/2023-24/bios/muff_callie_ayau">Callie Muff</a>'s kill bumped the Dragon lead to 14-11. Briseno's service ace gave the Dragons a 19-14 lead. Briseno's kill gave the Dragons a 2-0 lead after a 25-18 victory. The Dragons hit .189 to Cloud County's .167.SET 3: The Blue Dragons never trailed in the third set. Leading 9-8, set error followed by a Dean service ace pushed the Hutchinson lead to three. The Dragons pushed their run to 7-0 after a Murphy kill give the Dragons a 15-8 lead. The Blue Dragons held Cloud County to .105 hitting. Golden had five kills in the set and led Hutchinson's .140 hitting.
