WICHITA, Kan. — The 91st NBC World Series opened Thursday with a pair of games at Wichita State’s Eck Stadium. The Dodge City A’s cruised to an 8-0 run-rule victory over the Seattle Cheney Studs in seven innings, while the Hays Larks held on for a 6-5 win over the Seattle Blackfins.

Day 2 action on Friday features four games. The noon opener pits the Lonestar Kraken against the Denver Cougars, followed by a 3 p.m. matchup between the BTL Hornets and Lonestar Baseball Club.

The evening session begins at 6 p.m. with the Hutchinson Monarchs taking on the San Diego Stars. The night concludes with the Derby Twins facing the Santa Barbara Foresters at 8:30 p.m.

SALINA, Kan. — A $500,000 matching gift from the Augustine family is jumpstarting efforts to launch a Boys &amp; Girls Club in Salina, fulfilling a long-awaited vision for expanded youth services in the community.

The donation, made through the Augustine Family Donor Advised Fund at the Greater Salina Community Foundation, honors the legacy of Ted and Almita Augustine and offers a dollar-for-dollar match to support both the new Club’s startup operations and long-term sustainability.

“This matching gift challenge is a game-changer,” said Lance Patterson, CEO of the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Hutchinson, which is partnering on the Salina initiative. “It helps us meet the immediate needs to open our doors, while also building the foundation to serve kids for generations to come.”

Every dollar contributed to the endowed “Boys &amp; Girls Club of Salina Fund” by December 31, 2025, will be matched with an equal amount designated for operational support, effectively doubling each donor’s impact. The Club is expected to open by the end of 2025 at Oakdale Elementary School, with plans to offer academic, leadership, wellness, and career-readiness programs. A future facility is planned for the Sunset Park area.

“Our families are excited to support the start of a Salina-based Boys &amp; Girls Club,” said Donna Augustine-Shaw and Mark Augustine in a joint statement. “This initiative connects our parents’ belief in education with a powerful, lasting opportunity for Salina youth.”

The project has been championed by longtime educator Millie Moye, who worked with a dedicated advisory board and local partners to bring the vision to life.

“This has been a dream in my heart for over 20 years,” Moye said. “The Augustine family’s support is lightening the table, so that all children have a spot at the table. That is so profound.”

Supporters are encouraged to act quickly to meet the matching challenge. Dollar for dollar match announced for Boys and Girls Clubs of Salina 

ARLINGTON, Kan. — Reno County EMS broke ground Thursday on a long-awaited new ambulance station in Arlington, marking a key step toward improving facilities and maintaining strong response times in western Reno County.

The new station, designated EMS Station 3, will be located at 107 W. Fair St. and replaces the current downtown Arlington station, which officials described as outdated and overcrowded.

“This has been a project that’s been in the works for over six years,” said Reno County EMS Chief Dave Johnston. “Our current station in this area is a little rough and has needed replacement for several years, but we’re really excited to have this coming in.”

Located in one of Kansas’ largest counties by area, Reno County EMS serves a coverage area of more than 1,250 square miles.&nbsp;

The Arlington station's central location in the western part of the county makes it a critical component in the countywide emergency response system.

“It’s a great base for us to serve a large portion of the western county and improve our response times in this area,” Johnston said. “It also shows a commitment that the county and the hospital have to the community.”

Reno County EMS operates under Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and was able to fund the new station in part through allocations from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The facility will include two bays and primarily house one ambulance, known as Medic 3. It will be staffed 24/7 by at least one paramedic and an EMT or a second paramedic. Space is also included for a second, backup ambulance if needed.

“Typically, we’ll have two providers out here, and if staffing requires it, we can move additional resources,” Johnston said.

Paramedic Kyli McGreevy, who currently works at the downtown Arlington station, said the new facility will be a major upgrade.

“Our current station is just really old, kind of rundown, and we’re ready for an upgrade,” McGreevy said. “We’re excited to have more space, more separation, and dedicated work areas instead of one giant room.”

McGreevy noted that the Arlington crew covers the largest service area of any Reno County EMS unit, roughly two-thirds of the county, due to the rural nature of the region.

“Even being stationed here, if we have to go all the way to Sylvia or Plevna, we still have about a 20- to 30-minute response time,” she said. “Having this station out here is super helpful for a lot of the county. We’re able to provide that care just a little bit quicker.”

Construction, which is being done by Ward Davis Builders, is expected to be completed in early 2026.&nbsp;

Past Talk20 Hutch events have covered everything from aviation and archaeology to life after a coma and placemaking. Organizers emphasize that the event is not a traditional lecture, but a gathering meant to foster curiosity, conversation, and connection.

Presenters ready to spark inspiration and conversation

HUTCHINSON, Kan. - Motorcycle riders from across Kansas will gather this Saturday, July 26, for the fifth annual Ride Like MADD Poker Run, a fundraiser supporting Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) of Kansas and honoring the life of Steven Richard Golik, who was killed by a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle last year.&nbsp;

The event will begin and end at Twister City Harley-Davidson, located at 5427 Chuzy Drive in Park City, with registration starting at 9:30 a.m. and the first riders departing at 10:30 a.m. Organizers expect a larger turnout than in previous years, with an estimated 150 or more riders participating in the tribute ride.&nbsp;

“This ride is about more than motorcycles,” said Casey Ensz of Bretz Injury Law who is the organizer. “It’s about raising awareness and supporting families like Steven’s who have suffered unimaginable loss due to impaired driving.”&nbsp;

This year’s poker run route includes stops at significant locations in Golik’s life. Riders will travel to Textron Aviation, where he worked for many years, Andover Central Park, where he lived, and WSU Tech’s National Center for Aviation Training, before returning to Twister City. Additional stops include Thunder Road in Augusta, highlighting the ride’s focus on both remembrance and community outreach.&nbsp;

The entry fee is $25 per poker hand or $50 for three hands. Payouts will be awarded to the best hand (25% of proceeds), second-best (15%), and worst hand (10%). All road-legal vehicles are welcome.&nbsp;

Following the ride, participants will enjoy a free lunch, live music from local bands The Nailbiters and Trickey Dix, door prizes, and raffles. Organizers aim to wrap up the ride portion by 1 p.m. to avoid peak afternoon heat, with temperatures expected in the low 90s.&nbsp;

Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the unit block of West 4th on the north side.

In 1925, B.F. Nichols and C.L. Steed started the business Woodwork Mfg. and were at 4 S. Walnut between 1925 to 1930.

But this article is about the property at 14-16 W. 4th.

14 W. 4th was built in 1920 to become the Indian Motorcycle Dealership in Hutch.

In 1930, Woodwork Mfg. moved to this location and continued to grow successfully. The first photo shows the company at this location.

In 1942, during World War II, the name was changed to Aircraft Woodwork Mfg. Inc. and grew from eight employees to 1,000 employees, and operated in four buildings between 4th and 7th from Main to Washington. They built several wood components for the CG-4A Glider used at the Normandy invasion, including the nose section.

After the war, the company became Woodwork Mfg. &amp; Supply Co.

In 1974, the 14-16 W. 4th location was remodeled. The second photo shows this at opening.

In 1979, Woodwork Mfg. moved in with Architectural Millwork in a new building at 401 S. Adams.

Since then, the 14-16 W. 4th buildings have been home to Rand Tool Energy Corp., Armed Forces Recruiting, Hutch Title, Don Scott Acct. and Strategic Financial Concepts. The third photo shows the 14-16 W. 4th location today, housing North Fork Financial L.L.C. with the property now owned by A&amp;A Enterprises.

📷 Throwback Thursday: Woodwork Mfg. - Vol. 132

As construction progresses on Hutchinson’s new YMCA facility along North Lorraine, Hutchinson YMCA Executive Director David Foster says the organization is already ramping up its services and outreach—proving the Y’s impact goes well beyond new bricks and mortar.

The highly anticipated new YMCA, part of the Greater Wichita YMCA network, continues to rise visibly behind its signature blue fence. Structural steel is already in place, and Foster said crews hope to have the building enclosed between Halloween and Thanksgiving, allowing work to continue through the winter months.

“The steel was delivered earlier than expected, which really helped,” Foster said. “Now people can actually see the walls going up above the fence, and that’s exciting for the community.”

In the meantime, the Hutchinson YMCA remains active in expanding its programming. This week marks&nbsp;Campaign Awareness Week, highlighting the Y’s annual fundraising efforts that help provide income-based financial assistance and support free community programs.

“We want everyone to know the Y is for everybody, regardless of their financial situation,” Foster said. “The new facility will be beautiful, but it doesn’t change our commitment to accessibility and service.”

The Y’s new facility will also feature a unique collaboration with the Cosmosphere. A space-themed, STEM-based climbing structure will be installed in the lobby, merging physical activity with science learning. The idea, Foster said, came from a shared vision to create something distinctly “Hutchinson.”

Construction highlights include separate family and lap pools—both of which will be grounded for safety, allowing continued use during lightning. With the lap pool already plumbed and framed, excavation for the family pool is expected to begin soon.

Foster also encouraged the public to follow the Y’s progress on social media through its “Behind the Fence” video updates, which offer insight into the construction process and layout of the new facility.

A public&nbsp;Open House&nbsp;at the current facility is scheduled for&nbsp;Aug. 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.&nbsp;The event invites both current and prospective members to explore programs, meet staff, and learn about membership options.

“This year’s open house is in our existing building, but next year, we’re hoping it’ll be in the brand-new Y,” Foster said. “We’re looking forward to what’s ahead—and continuing to serve the community every step of the way.”

The program launched this spring and served 131 children.</li>

YMCA construction continues, Open house date set

 Stage 9 is set to launch audiences on an emotional and imaginative journey with its summer production of Ride the Cyclone, opening July 31 and running through Aug. 3.

Directed by Theresa Teufel, who also serves as president of the Stage 9 Board, the quirky, off-Broadway musical tells the story of six high school choir students who perish in a tragic rollercoaster accident. The twist? They find themselves in limbo, where a fortune-telling machine named Karnak offers one of them the chance to return to life — if they can prove they deserve it most.

“It’s a really unique, heartfelt show,” said Teufel. “Each student shares their personal story and identity, and through that, we see humor, heartbreak, and self-discovery.”

Rehearsals began in early June, and the cast has poured two months of dedication into the production. Among the performers are Mason Lockhart and Leland Britton, both of whom bring passion and personality to their roles.

Lockhart, a recent graduate of Sterling High School, joined the cast just over a week ago in the role of Misha Bachinski, a Ukrainian orphan with a surprising backstory. Despite the short prep time, Teufel said Lockhart has “already wowed us beyond belief.”

“I’ve mostly played angry old men in past shows,” Lockhart joked. “This character is loud, animated, and full of energy. I had to learn a Ukrainian accent, step up my physical acting, and let loose onstage.”

Britton, also from Sterling, plays Ricky Potts — a quiet teen with a wildly vivid imagination. He said the role gives him the chance to “let out all of my internal mind and imagination and go wild.”

Both actors were encouraged to audition by friends already involved in the production, including castmate Catherine Vesey.

Stage 9’s creative team includes Teufel’s daughter Mallory Teufel as stage manager, Jo Stropes on set and costumes, Cassidy Ghere on lighting, Deavin Casato on sound, and local theater veteran Deshona Mahoney as music director. Choreography is by Prairie Hills Middle School teacher Katelyn Stoss.

Teufel praised the cast's commitment: “They’ve rehearsed outside of scheduled practices and brought incredible energy to every rehearsal. Their tenacity and chemistry are just amazing.”

County Commission to meet Wednesday morning 

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Three weeks ago, Ty Adkins wasn’t even sure he’d get a chance to tee it up in a U.S. Amateur qualifier. Now, the 2023 Hutchinson High School graduate is preparing to compete on one of golf’s grandest amateur stages.

Adkins, who recently wrapped up his sophomore season at Wichita State and is transferring to South Dakota State this fall, earned a spot in the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship with a 6-under-par 66 on Monday in final qualifying at Milburn Country Club in Overland Park. He tied for medalist honors with his former Shocker teammate, Michael Winslow, to claim one of the coveted invitations.

“I honestly didn’t even think I’d get into the first qualifier,” Adkins said. “I signed up late and was seventh on the waitlist. The whole journey from there to qualifying for the U.S. Am has been surreal.”

The 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship will be held Aug. 11–17 at the historic Olympic Club in San Francisco. The tournament opens with two rounds of stroke play on the Ocean Course, before the top 64 scorers advance to match play on the famed Lake Course. The Olympic Club has hosted five U.S. Opens, most recently in 2012, and the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open.

“It’s one of the most historic venues in the country,” Adkins said. “Just being able to walk those fairways and compete against the best amateurs in the world, it’s something I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid.”

That dream almost didn’t happen. Adkins received a late call-up to the July 1 local qualifier at Beatrice Country Club in Nebraska and responded with a 4-under-par 68, good for a fourth-place finish and a spot in final qualifying.

At Milburn, Adkins made the turn at 1-under before catching fire on the back nine. He went 5-under over his final five holes, including birdies on holes 12, 14, 15 and 16, and capped the run with a bunker hole-out eagle on the par-5 17th. Adkins went from tied for 15th place after 11 holes to the lead after the strong finish.

“I bogeyed 11, and that’s when I knew I had to make a run,” he said. “I hit some really good shots coming in, and when that eagle dropped, I kind of zoned out. I couldn’t believe it was happening.”

His brother, Trent, also a Hutch High alum, was by his side every step of the way, having taken the day off work to serve as his caddie.

“He doesn’t play a lot of golf, but he was awesome out there,” Adkins said. “He kept me grounded and helped me stay calm down the stretch. That meant the world to me.”

The performance was years in the making. Adkins credited a long list of mentors and supporters, beginning with his former high school coach, Charlie Pierce.

“Coach Pierce really introduced me to competitive golf,” Adkins said. “He let me start practicing with the high school team when I was still in middle school. That made a huge difference in my development.”

"I'm so happy for Ty," Pierce said. "He's worked so hard for everything he's accomplished, and it's great to see his hard work rewarded."

Adkins also paid tribute to the late Mike Kenney and Rusty Hilst, two pillars of the Hutchinson golf community who helped guide his journey.

“Mike helped me become a better golfer and a better person. And Rusty, he was always in my corner, helping me with scholarships, writing letters, and always checking in. I wish I could’ve called him after I qualified. I know he’d be proud.”

A constant source of support, Adkins’ parents, Troy and Susan, have been with him for every step of his golf journey. From junior tournaments to state tournaments to this summer’s breakthrough run, they’ve logged countless miles and never wavered in their belief.

“My parents have sacrificed so much for me to chase this dream,” Adkins said. “They’ve driven me all over the country, supported every crazy tournament I’ve signed up for, and never stopped encouraging me. I wouldn’t be in this position without them.”

A regular at Prairie Dunes Country Club, Adkins was made an honorary member in high school and has worked as a caddie there throughout college. He credits the world-renowned course, and its longtime head professional, John Lanham, as a major part of his development.

“John Lanham has been incredible to me,” Adkins said. “He’s always let me come out and practice as long as I’m working and caddying. There’s not many better places in Kansas to practice than Prairie Dunes, just having this course in Hutchinson is just insane. It's one of the best courses in the country and one of the best courses in the world. It's really a blessing to be able to play out here and I owe a lot of my success to that course and to John.”

After two seasons at Wichita State, Adkins entered the transfer portal and will head to Brookings, South Dakota this fall to join the South Dakota State golf program under head coach Parker Edens.

“I’m excited for the new opportunity,” Adkins said. “Coach Edens is a great golfer himself, and I think I can learn a lot from him. I’m hoping he can even caddie for me at the U.S. Am.”

"To have players qualify for USGA events is a huge deal for our program," Eden said. "We have been lucky enough to have two players do that this summer, with Ty qualifying for the U.S. Am and an incoming freshman qualify for the U.S. Junior. To have the Jackrabbits represented at the biggest amateur tournament in the world is a great representation of where our program is headed and we are grateful to have Ty being the one representing us there. I think this shows the quality of program we are building and have here in Brookings, South Dakota."

The championship begins Monday, Aug. 11 with 18 holes of stroke play, followed by another round Tuesday. The top 64 players then advance to head-to-head match play, culminating in a 36-hole championship match on Sunday, Aug. 17.

Adkins plans to arrive in San Francisco a few days early to walk the course and prepare for what he calls the most exciting week of his life.

“I’ve worked so hard for this,” he said. “And I’ve been blessed with people around me who’ve believed in me the whole way. I’m ready to compete, to soak it all in, and to show I belong out there.”

⛳ Hutchinson’s Ty Adkins qualifies for 125th U.S. Amateur Championship

A major civil rights milestone will be celebrated Friday as Beyond Barriers and the Hutchinson Human Relations Commission host a community-wide event marking the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).&nbsp;

The celebration takes place from 3 to 8 p.m. at Avenue A Park, where Washington Street between A and B avenues will be closed for the festivities. The event will feature free hot dogs, water, and chips, along with a dunk tank, adaptive sports demonstrations, and disability simulations that allow attendees to experience challenges faced by people with disabilities.&nbsp;

“We’re taking over Avenue A Park for a celebration that’s as educational as it is fun,” said Anthony Frischenmeyer of Beyond Barriers. “The ADA changed everything—from curb cuts to public access—and we want to honor the progress made and highlight where we still need to go.”&nbsp;

Signed into law on July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including employment, transportation, and access to public spaces and services.&nbsp;

“It’s a civil rights act that gave people with disabilities a chance to live independently and participate fully in their communities,” Frischenmeyer said. “Before the ADA, people faced enormous barriers just getting to school or accessing buildings.”&nbsp;

As part of the celebration, Beyond Barriers launched the “$35 for 35” campaign—a fundraiser seeking 100 donations of $35 each, with a goal of raising $3,500 by August 1. Donations can be made online through Beyond Barriers’ Facebook page.&nbsp;

Beyond Barriers is an Independent Living Center serving Kansans with disabilities across the lifespan. The organization offers employment support, housing resources, advocacy services, and referrals—helping people stay independent without requiring proof of disability.&nbsp;

Frischenmeyer, who leads employment efforts at Beyond Barriers, said building relationships with local employers is a key part of their mission. “We help connect people with disabilities to jobs—and help employers understand the power of reasonable accommodations,” he said. “Some of the most loyal and hardworking employees you’ll ever meet are folks who’ve just needed someone to give them a chance.”&nbsp;

Friday’s event will include booths from partner organizations and a live community podcast recording by Jason Probst, inviting guests to share what the ADA means to them.&nbsp;

Frischenmeyer said while much progress has been made, accessibility is still an ongoing challenge. “We’ve come a long way—but sidewalks still aren’t always safe or smooth, and we have to keep pushing for true inclusion,” he said. “This celebration is about acknowledging what’s been done and recommitting to the work ahead.”&nbsp;

Educators from across Reno County will come together once again for “All Hands on Deck,” a countywide professional development event set for Jan. 5, 2026, on the Hutchinson Community College campus.

The one-day event will host more than 1,100 educators representing every public school district in the county, as well as private schools such as Central Christian and educational institutions like HutchCC and RCEC. The event features a full schedule of keynote presentations, breakout workshops, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen instruction and collaboration across the region.

“This is really an all-inclusive event for anyone involved in education in Reno County,” said Paul Erickson, Director of Curriculum and Instruction for grades 6–12 at Buhler USD 313 and a lead organizer for the event. “It’s a massive undertaking, but the results have been well worth it.”

Originally launched in 2024, the event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, prompting organizers to bring it back after a one-year break. “It takes more than a year to plan an event of this scale,” Erickson noted. “With HCC offering their entire campus and school districts dedicating a professional development day, it’s a huge team effort.”

Keynote speaker Kim Bearden from the renowned Ron Clark Academy will headline the 2026 event. Bearden, co-founder and author of The Essential 55, will also lead breakout sessions throughout the day.

While outside experts like Bearden are invited to share their expertise, the majority of the workshops will be led by local educators. Topics will include balanced assessment, high-level instruction, early literacy strategies, and specialized training for coaches, including strength and conditioning sessions.

In addition to professional development, the event includes a vendor showcase during the extended lunch hour from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Businesses are invited to sign up and present their products and services directly to the region’s educators. Erickson said vendor participation helps keep the event affordable for schools and provides valuable exposure.

“Last time, we had about 30 vendors, and the feedback was phenomenal,” he said. “We’re hoping to fill those spots again. Vendors get direct access to over a thousand education professionals in one place.”

“It’s a great time to be an educator in Reno County,” Erickson said. “We’re excited to bring everyone together again for a powerful day of learning, growth, and connection.”

 </figure>MARC JACOBS Hutch PostEducators from across Reno County will come together once again for “All Hands on Deck,” a countywide professional development event set for Jan. 5, 2026, on the Hutchinson Community College campus.The one-day event will host more than 1,100 educators representing every public school district in the county, as well as private schools such as Central Christian and educational institutions like HutchCC and RCEC. The event features a full schedule of keynote presentations, breakout workshops, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen instruction and collaboration across the region.“This is really an all-inclusive event for anyone involved in education in Reno County,” said Paul Erickson, Director of Curriculum and Instruction for grades 6–12 at Buhler USD 313 and a lead organizer for the event. “It’s a massive undertaking, but the results have been well worth it.”Originally launched in 2024, the event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, prompting organizers to bring it back after a one-year break. “It takes more than a year to plan an event of this scale,” Erickson noted. “With HCC offering their entire campus and school districts dedicating a professional development day, it’s a huge team effort.”<figure>

Bearden, co-founder and author of The Essential 55, will also lead breakout sessions throughout the day.While outside experts like Bearden are invited to share their expertise, the majority of the workshops will be led by local educators. Topics will include balanced assessment, high-level instruction, early literacy strategies, and specialized training for coaches, including strength and conditioning sessions.In addition to professional development, the event includes a vendor showcase during the extended lunch hour from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Businesses are invited to sign up and present their products and services directly to the region’s educators. Erickson said vendor participation helps keep the event affordable for schools and provides valuable exposure.“Last time, we had about 30 vendors, and the feedback was phenomenal,” he said. “We’re hoping to fill those spots again. McPHERSON COUNTY — The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is launching a new study on a 36-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 56 in McPherson and Marion counties to explore options for improving safety and traffic flow.

The study will focus on the potential addition of paved shoulders and identifying key locations for new passing lanes. KDOT will also examine ways to enhance overall corridor safety, including access point consolidation and intersection upgrades.

According to KDOT, the passing lanes component was ranked as a top priority for District 2 during the 2023 Local Consult process—a series of regional meetings that help shape future transportation projects across the state.

The U.S. 56 corridor serves as a vital east-west route through central Kansas, supporting local communities, agriculture, and industry. KDOT officials say the study is an important step in developing project designs that meet long-term needs for safety and capacity.

Findings from the study will guide future construction and funding decisions, though no specific timeline has been announced for implementation.

KDOT to study U.S. 56 corridor in McPherson, Marion counties 

After a 32-year hiatus, the Sky Ryders Drum &amp; Bugle Corps are back — and they’re already making waves on the national stage. Under the direction of Dale Antione, the corps completed its 2025 summer tour with standout performances in Iowa and Illinois and received top rankings in their competitive division.

The Sky Ryders launched their summer training camp, or “spring training,” in Hutchinson on June 30. Over the next two weeks, members — many experiencing their first taste of drum corps intensity — trained up to 10 hours a day in the Kansas heat, honing their music and marching skills at Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College’s Gowans Stadium.

Their hard work culminated in a well-attended dress rehearsal performance on July 7, which drew a crowd of 300 to 400 people. “The support we received from the Hutchinson community was incredible,” said Antione. “From local schools to community volunteers like Cleta Long, who helped with uniforms, everyone pitched in to make this a success.”

The Sky Ryders made a memorable appearance in Hutchinson’s Eagle Media Patriots Parade, which Antione called the largest crowd he’s seen in years. “The energy and reception were just phenomenal,” he said. “People were excited — and a little surprised — to see us back.”

The corps embarked on its short summer tour July 8, performing in Ankeny, Iowa, and Lyle, Illinois, while a scheduled show in Dubuque was canceled due to severe weather. Despite being a new corps in the SoundSport division, the Sky Ryders delivered high-scoring performances, earning the top score in their category at both competitions.

Students from freshman year of high school through college are eligible to try out.Looking ahead, Antione said the organization hopes to expand next summer’s training to three weeks and extend the tour. The Sky Ryders will consider petitioning for evaluation to move into DCI’s Open Class for 2027, with an eventual goal of returning to World Class competition.And there may be more excitement on the horizon for Hutchinson, Antione hopes that the city could host a DCI show again in 2026.“It’s been an encouraging start,” Antione said. “We’re back. And we’re only getting better.”
