HUTCHINSON, Kan. — According to a social media post, the Kansas State Fair is looking for local Vrbos, Airbnbs, or home rentals within a five-mile radius of Hutchinson to help accommodate a few Fair guests prior to and during the Kansas State Fair, Sept. 8-17, 2023.

Hutchinson has a very low hotel capacity for its peak season events, like the Fair and the NJCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, and with the new Amber Hotel LLC project not set to open until at least next year, the Fair is looking to make sure guests like Grandstand acts and dignitaries have a place they can call home for their time in Hutchinson.
During the NJCAA Men's Tournament earlier in March, according to a previous conversation with Visit Hutch's LeAnn Cox, nine of the 24 teams playing had to be booked in hotels outside of Hutchinson.
