SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Planning Commission will continue the process of working through potential text amendments to the county's Zoning Regulations regarding commercial solar development at its meeting June 15.

The planning commission was given time to work by Reno County Commissioners, as they put a moratorium on such development in place for the rest of 2023 at their meeting on April 11.

No public comment on the regulations was taken at the April 20 meeting, as it took them more than two hours just to read through and discuss the first draft provided by staff and make some initial edits.  No public comment on that topic was taken at the May 18 meeting or will be taken on June 15.

Unlike the May meeting, no other cases are planned before the board, so they should be able to focus solely on the solar topic.

The Reno County Planning Commission meets Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the Reno County Public Works office at 600 Scott Boulevard in South Hutchinson.
