HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The BrightHouse Safe Shelter House has used the same artificial tree and decorations for almost 20 years - and they are looking pretty worn out. If you wanted to brighten up Christmas for Shelter residents, a donation of a new tree or decorations would be welcome.

Also, Stuff the Bus is coming up in just a few weeks on Dec. 3.

BrightHouse in partnership with Eagle Media and Dillons Marketplace will Stuff the Bus on Saturday December 3rd from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. that day. This annual food and fundraiser fills the pantry for the winter at the BrightHouse Safe Shelter House.

In 2021, 61 people found shelter at the house – so far in 2022 more than twice that many people have already found a safe place to stay in shelter, so the need is strong.

Last year, Hutchinson gave $1071 in cash donations and more than $595 in gift cards, along with 4,373 individual items. 2021 was the second largest item year ever for BrightHouse.
