DENVER (AP) — The St. Louis Blues may be without leading scorer David Perron for Game 1 of their first-round series against the top-seeded Colorado Avalanche. Perron appeared on the league's COVID-19 protocol list for a second straight day. Perron led the Blues with 58 points. The Avalanche will have back one of their top scorers in Nathan MacKinnon after he missed time with a lower-body injury. This marks the first time Colorado and St. Louis have met in the postseason since 2001, when the Avs beat the Blues in the Western Conference final on their way to hoisting the Stanley Cup.&nbsp;

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Alan Pulido scored a pair of goals, one in each half, and Sporting Kansas City beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0 on Sunday. Pulido and Dániel Sallói scored goals four minutes apart in the first half. It was the first time Kansas City scored two goals in an opening half since its home opener on March 7 last year in a 4-0 win over Houston.

UNDATED (AP) — The Utah Jazz have come away with the first overall seed in the NBA playoffs by finishing first in the Western Conference.

Jordan Clarkson scored 33 points and the Jazz completed a 52-20 campaign by hammering the Kings, 121-99. Rudy Gobert added 13 points and 16 rebounds for Utah, which needed to win its final two games to hold off Phoenix for the top spot.

Mike Conley had 11 points, nine assists and six rebounds in his second game back after missing two weeks because of a right hamstring injury. Bojan (BOY'-ahn) Bogdanovic chipped in 18 points for the Jazz.

Utah finished one game ahead of the Suns and won't know its first-round opponent until after the play-in tournament.

— Anthony Edwards scored 30 points in his final audition for NBA Rookie of the Year, leading the Timberwolves to a 136-121 victory over the postseason-bound Mavericks. Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell scored 23 points apiece for Minnesota, which set a team record with 113 points through three quarters. Luka Doncic had 18 points, six rebounds and six assists in 21 minutes for the fifth-seeded Mavericks.

— Kevin Durant and the Nets have claimed the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 123-109 win over the Cavaliers. Indiana comes away with the ninth seed in the East and will take on Charlotte in the play-in tournament.

— Stephen Curry became the oldest scoring champion since Michael Jordan in 1998, finishing with 46 points as the Warriors downed the Grizzlies, 113-101. He made 9 of 22 3s and also contributed nine assists and seven rebounds in Golden State's sixth straight win, a streak that gives the Warriors the eighth seed in the West. The 33-year-old Curry averaged 32 points during his second 2,000-point season.

— Nemanja Bjelica (NEH'-mehn-yah bee-ah-LEETS-ah) scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half of the Heat's 120-107 win over the Pistons. Precious Achiuwa (ah-CHOO'-ah) scored a career-high 23 points and Max Strus added 20 for Miami, which rested its starters after being tethered to the sixth seed in the East. The loss assured that the Pistons would finish alone with the second-worst record in the league. 

The Hall calls: Bosh, Webber, Wright among the 2021 class

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Ben Wallace, Jay Wright, Chris Bosh and Chris Webber are among the 16 names announced as this year's Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement class

The group that also includes Paul Pierce, coaches Rick Adelman and Cotton Fitzsimmons, and WNBA stars Yolanda Griffith and Lauren Jackson.

Bill Russell becomes the fifth Hall of Famer who will be inducted as both a player and a coach, joining John Wooden, Lenny Wilkens and former Russell teammates, Bill Sharman and Tommy Heinsohn (HYN'-suhn).

Isles, Wild get OT road wins...Bolts rally late

UNDATED (AP) — The New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild and Tampa Bay Lightning have opened their respective Stanley Cup playoff schedules with road wins.

Kyle Palmieri's second goal of the day came in overtime to give the Isles a 4-3 comeback win at Pittsburgh. The Long Island native took a pass from JG Pageau (PA'-zhoh) near the goal line and gave the Isles their first win in five tries at the Steel City this year.

Pageau and Brock Nelson also scored to support rookie Ilya Sorokin (sah-ROH'-kihn), who turned back 39 shots.

Tristan Jarry made 37 saves in Pittsburgh's 10th loss in its last 11 postseason games.

Joel Eriksson Ek scored 3:20 into overtime to send the Wild past the Golden Knights, 1-0 in Game 1 of the first-round series.

Ek was in the slot to send a shot that went off the skate of Golden Knights defender Alec Martinez and past Marc-Andre Fleury.

Wild goaltender Cam Talbot made 42 saves and did some of his best work while Minnesota was outshot, 19-5 in the first period. 

Brayden Point scored twice in the last seven minutes to rally the Lightning past the Panthers, 5-4. Point provided the game-winner with 1:14 remaining to complete the comeback.

Nikita Kucherov (nih-KEE'-tah KOO'-chuh-rahv) finished with two goals and an assist for the Bolts, who trailed 2-1 and 4-3 before swiping home-ice advantage from the Cats.

Meanwhile, the Canucks and Flames are playing out the string. In the lone regular-season game, Calgary squandered a four-goal lead in the third period before Elias (eh-LEE'-uhs) Lindholm scored the overtime winner to send the Flames past the Canucks, 6-5.

UNDATED (AP) — Down to their last out, the Los Angeles Angels were bailed out by Shohei Ohtani (AHOH'-hay oh-TAH'-nee) as they avoided a three-game sweep in Fenway Park.

The Angels coughed up a 4-0 lead and trailed 5-4 until Ohtani smacked a two-run homer around the Pesky Pole to give Los Angeles a 6-5 win over the Red Sox. It was his second home run of the series and major league-leading 12th of the season.

Drew Butera's two-run single put the Halos ahead by four. But Rafael Devers (DEH'-vurz) slammed a three-run drive and Kevin Plawecki added a blast in a four-run fifth that put Boston ahead.

— Kyle Hendricks struck out eight and took a shutout into the ninth inning of the Cubs' 5-1 victory over the Tigers. Ian Happ's three hits included a homer as Chicago won for just the second time in six games.

— Rookie Ivan Castillo's first big league hit was an RBI single in a four-run fourth that put the Padres ahead in a 5-3 win versus the Cardinals. The Padres are 5-1 since Tuesday, when Fernando Tatis (tah-TEES') Jr. tested positive before a game at Colorado and right fielder Wil Myers and first baseman Eric Hosmer were pulled from the game.

— The Rays completed a three-game sweep of the Mets as Manuel Margot (mahn-WEHL mahr-GOH'), Willy Adames (ah-DAH'-mehs) and Brandon Lowe (low) homered off Marcus Stroman in Tampa Bay's 7-1 victory. Ji-Man Choi had three hits, including an eighth-inning RBI double, in his first game after recovering from arthroscopic right knee surgery. 

— Matt Chapman had three hits and three RBIs and Ramón Laureano scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the ninth inning as the Athletics defeated the Twins 7-6. Andrelton Simmons tied it for Minnesota in the eighth with a two-out, two-run homer off reliever Jake Diekman. 

— Mitch Haniger doubled twice and the Mariners ended Shane Bieber's record strikeout streak while beating the Indians, 3-2. Bieber had fanned at least eight in 20 straight games, but the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner fell short with seven over just 4 2/3 innings.

— Maikel (MY'-kul) Franco homered and drove in three runs as the Orioles dumped the Yankees, 10-6 to avoid a three-game sweep. Yanks outfielder Aaron Judge homered for the third straight game and went 6 for 10 with four home runs and five RBIs in the series.

— Alex Wood is 5-0 after allowing a run and eight hits over six innings of the Giants' 4-1 win at Pittsburgh. Mike Yastrzemski (ya-STREHM'-skee) smacked a two-run homer and Buster Posey provided three of San Francisco's nine hits, leaving him with a .382 average.

— Adam Duvall slammed a three-run homer and then threw out Mookie Betts at the plate during a busy fifth inning, leading the Marlins past the Dodgers, 3-2. Pablo López gave up seven hits and two runs over five innings in his first victory of the season.

— Erick Fedde (FEH'-dee) pitched seven scoreless innings and Yadiel Hernandez snapped a scoreless tie with a pinch-hit homer that sparked a three-run eighth in the Nationals' 3-0 shutout of the Diamondbacks. Fedde had his best outing of the year, using 97 pitches to navigate seven innings while allowing just three hits.

— The Reds scored ninth-inning runs on a passed ball and a wild pitch to rally past the Rockies, 7-6. Cincinnati trailed 6-1 in the eighth before Tyler Naquin (NAY'-kwihn) singled home a pair in a four-run rally. 

— Marcus Semien and Bo Bichette (bih-SHEHT') hit consecutive first-inning homers before Randal Grichuk had a two-run double in a five-run second that pushed the Blue Jays past the Phillies, 10-8. Semien finished with three hits and three RBIs, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went deep for the third game in a row.

— Chas McCormick singled home a pair as part of a four-run eighth that carried the Astros to their sixth straight win, 6-2 against the Rangers. Lance McCullers Jr. had to settle for a no-decision after limiting Texas to five hits over six shutout innings.

Dodgers' Seager likely out for a few weeks with broken hand

UNDATED (AP) — World Series MVP Corey Seager will miss at least a few weeks for the Los Angeles Dodgers after breaking a bone in his right hand. Manager Dave Roberts says the star shortstop does not need surgery on his broken fifth metacarpal. The team placed Seager on the 10-day injured list Sunday and recalled catcher Keibert Ruiz from Triple-A Oklahoma City. 

— The Yankees have had another positive COVID-19 test, this one involving a staff member. The Yankees have had nine total positives within the traveling party since Monday — three coaches, five staffers and shortstop shortstop Gleyber Torres (GLAY'-bur TOHR'-ehz).

Bowman parks 48 in familiar spot in victory lane at Dover

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Alex Bowman won the the NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway as Hendrick Motorsports swept the top four positions.

Bowman led the final 98 laps and teammate Kyle Larson led a race-high 263 laps. Larson finished second, followed by Chase Elliott and William Byron.

Hendrick Motorsports is the first team to finish 1-2-3-4 since Jack Roush in 2005. HMS led 382 of the 400 laps at Dover.

McKINNEY, Texas (AP) — K.H. Lee is headed to the PGA Championship after getting his first PGA Tour victory at the AT&amp;T Byron Nelson. The South Korean shot 6-under 66 and finished at 25 under for a three-shot win over third-round leader Sam Burns. 

Daniel Berger, Patton Kizzire, Charl Schwartzel and Scott Stallings tied for third at minus-21.

Local Favorite Jordan Spieth (speeth) got his first top 10 at the Nelson 11 years after contending on as a 16-year-old. 

DULUTH, Ga. (AP) — Monday qualifier Dicky Pride has won the Mitsubishi Electric Classic for his first PGA Tour Champions title

Pride closed with a 5-under 67 for an 11-under total and a three-stroke win over Stephen Ames, Kirk Triplett and second-round leader Paul Goydos (GOY'-dohs).

Making his 11th senior start, the 51-year-old Pride had six birdies in an 11-hole stretch before dropping a stroke on the par-4 15th. He parred the final three.

Baseball regionals this week

The Hutchinson Community College football team won its seventh Jayhawk Conference championship in program history Sunday, rolling up some massive offensive numbers against Dodge City in doing so.

The NJCAA No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons racked up 610 total yards and 789 all-purpose yards in a 70-14 Jayhawk Conference victory over Dodge City at Gowans Stadium.

Hutchinson completes the 2021 regular season undefeated at 7-0, joining only the 1947 and 1969 Blue Dragon teams to have unbeaten regular seasons. This is the sixth time the Blue Dragons have started a season 7-0 (1947, 1948, 1969, 2010 and 2014).

Now the top-ranked Blue Dragons will have to wait for a little more than a week for an official invitation to play in the NJCAA National Championship game on June 5 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas. The NJCAA football regular season ends next weekend.

An announcement from the NJCAA is expected either May 24 or 25.

The Blue Dragons captured their first Jayhawk Conference title since 2014. Hutchinson head coach Drew Dallas is the first Blue Dragon coach to win a KJCCC title in his first season as head coach.

For the third-straight week, the Blue Dragons amassed a season-high total offense output, rolling up 610 total yards against the Conquistadors. Those 610 yards came on only 44 offensive plays and it's the seventh most total yards in Blue Dragon single-game history.

The Blue Dragons have scored 70-plus points in back-to-back games for the second-time in program history. Last week the Blue Dragons scored 77 points against Highland. The 70 points against Dodge City tied for the 10th-most points scored in Hutchinson single-game history and it's the 13th time in team history the Dragons have scored 70 or more points.

The Dragons rushed for a season-high 366 yards, averaging 14.1 yards per carry on just 26 attempts. Back-up quarterback Daiseasn Cash had a 95-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, which is the second-longest run from scrimmage in Blue Dragon history. On the Dragons next rush attempt on their next possession,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2020-21/bios/kedzior_dylan_cbc8">Dylan Kedzior</a>&nbsp;broke loose for an 85-yard touchdown. That run tied for the eighth-longest run from scrimmage in program history.

Quarterback&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2020-21/bios/laible_dylan_mrze">Dylan Laible</a>&nbsp;became the 13th Hutchinson QB to throw for five touchdown passes. Laible's scoring passes were 78 yards to&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2020-21/bios/braham_cortes_6fw6">Cortez Braham</a>, 62 yards to&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2020-21/bios/thomas_ivan_quha">Ivan Thomas</a>, 9 yards to Kedzior and a pair of scoring strikes of 22 and 28 yards to&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2020-21/bios/howell_tyrone_d5kr">Tyrone Howell</a>. Laible completed 9 of 15 passes for 247 yards. Laible is the first Blue Dragon quarterback to throw for five touchdown passes in a game since Dalton Demos in 2014.

After Dodge City scored its first points in the third quarter, the Blue Dragons immediately responded with an Emmanuel Mann 83-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, the Blue Dragons' second kickoff return for a score this season. Mann has also scored special teams touchdowns in back-to-back weeks. He had a 3-yard fumble return for a touchdown last week against Highland.

The other Blue Dragon to reach the end zone was running back&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2020-21/bios/edwards_tye_vovm">Tye Edwards</a>, who scored on a 42-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

🏈 Blue Dragon Football completes run to KJCCC Championship

WICHITA –&nbsp;The Wind Surge fall to 8-4, forced to split their first home series after a 7-4 loss to the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Sunday afternoon at Riverfront Stadium.

After a solid start to the game, Wichita starter Cole Sands walked Geraldo Perdomo to start off the third, then allowed a double by Jake McCarthy, scoring Perdomo. McCarthy would come around on a Fletcher sacrifice fly, extending the Soddie’s lead to 2-0.

However, in the bottom of the third, the Surge would strike back. After Contreras walked to start the inning, Jose Miranda would step up with two outs and hit his fourth home run of the year to dead center (414 feet). The score remained 2-2 at the end of three innings played.

In the top of the fourth Sands, would load the bases after a single and pair of walks, eventually leading to a two-RBI single from Jake McCarthy. Sands would finish his day with four innings pitched, four earned runs, five walks, five strikeouts, and a no decision.

After a rough outing Saturday, the Wind Surge bullpen seemed to bounce back Sunday. Jovani Moran would come on first in relief, pitching two and two thirds’ innings with no hits, no runs, one walk, and five strikeouts. Tom Hackimer’s number was called next, as he went an inning and a third with two strikeouts and no runs.

The Surge would stay quiet until the bottom of the eighth. Mark Contreras doubled to lead off the inning, followed two batters later by another double from Ernie de la Trinidad, putting Wichita down one. Jose Miranda would single de la Trinidad in, and the game remained tied at 4-4 heading into the ninth.

After a short rain delay, Josh Mitchell came in for the ninth inning, and faced some problems. After a pair of singles to start it for the Soddies, a crucial error on a ground ball by McCarthy on Jermaine Palacios with the infield in plated two unearned runs for Amarillo. McCarthy would come around to score on a two-out single, extending the Sod Poodles lead to 7-4. Mitchell went one inning, with two unearned runs, one earned run, and one strikeout.

NOTES- Jermaine Palacios extended his hitting streak to 11 games. He has a hit in every Wind Surge game that he has appeared in.

BRISBANE, Australia — Former HutchCC recruit and graduate Tiana Mangakahia has signed a pro contract to play in Australia.

Shortly after she was&nbsp;cut from the Phoenix Mercury&nbsp;on Wednesday night, former&nbsp;Syracuse Orange&nbsp;women’s basketball player Tiana Mangakahia signed with the NBL1 league’s Northside Wizards in her home country of Australia. 

Mangakahia came to the United States from Brisbane six years ago to play college basketball.&nbsp;&nbsp;

According to a Syracuse University press release,&nbsp; Mangakahia was not drafted, but&nbsp;signed a training camp contract&nbsp;with fellow Australian Sandy Brondello and the Phoenix Mercury shortly after the draft. She was cut on the second-to-last day of camp. Mangakahia appeared in both of the Mercury’s preseason games, tallying 11 points and seven turnovers between the two scrimmages.

While at Syracuse, Mangakahia averaged 15.3 points and 8.7 assists in 85 games. Mangakahia was nicknamed the Assist Queen by ‘Cuse fans, as she led the nation in that category and set multiple records during her college career. She missed the 2019-20 season due to breast cancer and returned to the court last season. Mangakahia is Syracuse’s all-time leader in career assists and the fastest player to score 1,000 career points in program history.

The NBL1 league began in 2019 and has 58 teams divided into four conferences: North, South, Central, and West. Mangakahia’s Wizards play in the North Conference. This is the team’s first year in the NBL1. The Wizards compete at the Northside Indoor Sports Centre in Brisbane.

Tiana is coming off a program-changing career at Syracuse University where she became the 6th&nbsp;player in ‘Cuse history to receive All America status.

The Brisbane, Australia, native earned WBCA Division 1 Coaches All America Honorable Mention and Associated Press (AP) Honorable mention recognition after a record-setting junior season where she became the fastest player in program history to score 1,000 points and the all-time leader in career assists. After a stellar 5th-year season, in which Tiana led ‘Cuse to a second round NCAA berth whilst leading the nation in assists per game, she was picked up by the WNBA-Phoenix Mercury.

Former Dragon, Syracuse guard Mangakahia signs with Australian pro team

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — <a href="https://hutchpost.com/posts/174975be-64f1-40a5-8896-ffabcc424ee1">In many ways, Hutchinson's 70-14 victory over Dodge City (1-5) Sunday afternoon looked a lot like last week's win against Highland</a>.

Once again, the Dragons (7-0) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after the first play on offense. Dylan Laible hit Cortez Braham on the Dragons' first play from scrimmage for a 78-yard touchdown.

"We talked all week about starting fast and finishing strong," head coach Drew Dallas said. "And we definitely started fast."

The Dragons once again jumped out to a 49-0 lead, but this time, the Dragons took a little more time off the clock before gaining the large advantage. One week after hanging a record 49 points in the first quarter against Highland, the Blue Dragons put up 49 in 32 minutes and 30 seconds of game time.

Laible was hot once again from the start. Despite missing on a few passes long and high, he had a hand (or in this case, an arm) in the first four Dragon TDs.

Laible hit Braham on a 78-yard strike to start the scoring, then he found Ivan Thomas on a 62-yard score. He showed his short game on a 9-yard TD pass to running back Dylan Kedzior.

Hutchinson led 21-0 after one quarter. Not even 30 seconds had gone by in the second quarter when Laible chucked his fourth TD pass, this time to Tyrone Howell from 22 yards away.

Marquise Gilbert and the defense once again got in on the scoring action. One week after his 100-yard pick-six, Gilbert had a 57-yard scoop-six after the Dragon defense forced Conquistador running back Cal'von Harris to fumble.

Tye Edwards then capped an eight-play, 87 yard drive with a 42-yard dash to the end zone. Edwards finished with 85 yards on 10 touches.

At halftime, Hutchinson held a 42-0 advantage.

Hutchinson kept firing away to start the third quarter. Laible found Howell once again, this time from 28 yards out. Laible finished the day with five touchdown passes and 246 yards.

Dodge City answered with its first score of the game after an Anwar Lewis fumble. The Conquistadors needed just two plays to score on a 14-yard pass from Rashad McKee to Terrance Johnson. Despite the fumble, Lewis had 91 yards rushing on the day.

Hutchinson would finish the third quarter with three 80-plus yard scores.

Emmanuel Mann answered the Conquistador touchdown by taking the ensuing kickoff 83 yards to the house. Mann scored on a special teams play last week after taking a Highland fumbled lateral off the Scotties' punter and walking into the end zone from three yards out.

Daisean Cash then came in at quarterback and ran for another long TD after his 68-yard scamper last week. Against Dodge City, Cash took a third-down play 95 yards to pay dirt, the second-longest touchdown run in program history.

Dylan Kedzior picked up where he left off as last week's leading rusher when he ran 85 yards for a touchdown with 3:07 left in the third quarter.

Dodge City finished the afternoon scoring on a 10-play, 72-yard drive when backup quarterback Jase Orndorff found Tay Edwards on a 12-yard pass.

The Dragons may have given up 14 points, but "They made Dodge City earn absolutely everything," Dallas said after the game.

Before the final kneel down, Dallas received a congratulatory bath. "I might not have to take a shower tonight," Dallas said.

Hutchinson received the Region VI Conference Championship trophy after the game. The Blue Dragons won the conference title outright for the first time since 2014.

The Dragons also finished the regular season undefeated for the first time since 1969. This is the fourth time the program has gone undefeated in the regular season (1947, 1948, 1969).

Hutchinson has a bye week to finish the season.

All eyes will be on the national polls after the final week of the season. The Blue Dragons will wait to see if they get an invite to the National Championship.

"Our résumé speaks for itself," Dallas said of the Blue Dragons, who have been No. 1 in the poll all season long and have played stiff competition in the Jayhawk Conference.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The NJCAA No. 1-ranked Hutchinson Community College football team looks to wrap up an undefeated regular season on Sunday when the Dodge City Conquistadors come to Gowans Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

The Blue Dragons (6-0, 5-0 KJCCC) have already clinched a tie for the 2021 Jayhawk Conference championship. A victory over Dodge City (1-4, 0-4 KJCCC) would be the first outright conference crown since 2014 and seventh in program history.

Only three times in the first 88 seasons have the Blue Dragons finished the regular season undefeated. Hutchinson football also had undefeated regular seasons in 1947, 1948 and 1969.

The Blue Dragons last week had a most dominant performance in a 77-7 victory over the Highland Scotties at Gowans Stadium. Hutchinson needed only 14 plays to score 49 points and led the Scotties 49-0 after one quarter. The Blue Dragon defense, led by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2020-21/bios/pinkley_tre_bmqr">Tre Pinkney</a>'s four quarterback sacks, tallied 11 total sacks against Highland and held the Scotties to a negative 1-yard total offense. Hutchinson's defense also had a season-high six takeaways, including a 3-yard Emmanuel Mann fumble recovery for a special teams' touchdown.

That win was the 500th in Blue Dragon football history. Hutch is now 500-345-28.

The Blue Dragons are now the No. 3 scoring offense in the NJCAA at 44.0 points per game and are No. 3 in the nation in rushing offense at 265.0 yards per game. Hutchinson ranks No. 3 in the NJCAA in scoring defense at 11.0 points per game allowed. The Dragons are No. 5 in total defense (221.5 ypg) and No. 3 in rushing defense (42.0 ypg).

Dodge City started its season with a 54-0 victory over RPA College in March. Since then, the Conquistadors have dropped four in a row.

The Conquistadors will be playing their third-straight NJCAA Top 10 opponent. Dodge City trailed No. 6 Garden City by three points entering the fourth quarter and lost 34-24 two weeks ago. Last week, No. 6 Independence defeated Dodge City 54-34.

Last season, the Blue Dragons rolled by Dodge City, 85-3, at Gowans Stadium. Sunday's meeting will be the 90th all-time against Hutchinson and Dodge City. The Blue Dragons hold a 49-36-4 all-time record.

Hutchinson has now won eight consecutive games dating back to the 2019 season.

Dragons seek first outright conference crown since 2014

WICHITA – After three straight wins, Wichita drops the fifth installment of the inaugural series at Riverfront Stadium, following an 8-0 loss against the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Saturday.

Starter Bryan Sammons struggled early, allowing a two-run homerun from Luis Basabe in the second inning. He would settle in however, and finish the night with five innings pitched, five strikeouts, two walks, and two earned runs. He marks the first Wind Surge starting pitcher to record a loss in franchise history.

Soddies pitcher Luis Frias, who made his Double-A debut today, held Wichita to only three hits and one walk in six innings of work. He struck out three, while holding the Surge to no runs. It would be a tough night for the Surge at the plate, as they were held to three hits and no runs for the first time all year.

Rob Whalen made his Wind Surge debut out of the bullpen, allowing a solo homer to his first batter, Dominic Miroglio. Whalen would finish with two innings, two earned runs, two strikeouts, and one walk. RHP Ryan Mason would come in for the eighth and ninth innings, allowing four total earned runs on four hits. The Wind Surge bullpen would allow at least one run in each inning of relief, marking their worst performance of the season.

The series sits at 3-2, with a win on Sunday clinching a second straight series victory for the Wind Surge.

Wichita and Amarillo will play the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon, with the first pitch at 1:05 p.m.

He struck out three, while holding the Surge to no runs. It would be a tough night for the Surge at the plate, as they were held to three hits and no runs for the first time all year.Rob Whalen made his Wind Surge debut out of the bullpen, allowing a solo homer to his first batter, Dominic Miroglio. Whalen would finish with two innings, two earned runs, two strikeouts, and one walk. RHP Ryan Mason would come in for the eighth and ninth innings, allowing four total earned runs on four hits. The difficult-to-defend forward has missed four of the last five games with a lower-body injury. But coach Jared Bednar expects MacKinnon and forward Brandon Saad to be ready to go Monday night for the start of their best-of-seven series at Ball Arena. The top-seeded Avalanche went 5-3 against the Blues this season. St. Louis forward David Perron was added to the league's COVID-19 protocol list.

UNDATED (AP) — The Phoenix Suns still have a chance to claim the top seed in the NBA's Western Conference following their 140-103 blowout win over the Spurs in San Antonio.

Devin Booker dropped in 27 points for the Suns, who never trailed and led by as many as 42. Mikal Bridges had 18 points in 26 minutes and Chris Paul added 16 points and 10 assists in 25 minutes.

The Suns are one game behind the conference-leading Jazz with one game remaining, and Phoenix holds the tiebreaker. The Suns will take the top seed with a win at San Antonio on Sunday and a Utah loss to Sacramento.

— The Knicks blew a 17-point, second-half lead before Julius Randle led them to a 118-109 overtime win against the Hornets. Randle put the Knicks ahead in OT with a pair of free throws and set up all of New York's five baskets in the extra session, three coming during a 9-0 run. Randle finished with a triple-double of 33 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds to help the Knicks move into a fourth-place tie with Atlanta. 

— Jayson Tatum had 26 points and 11 rebounds as the short-handed Celtics cruised to a 124-108 win over the Timberwolves. Evan Fournier added 18 points and was 5 of 8 from 3-point range. Six Celtics scored in double figures as Boston snapped its four-game losing streak.

UNDATED (AP) — The Stanley Cup playoffs have begun with an overtime game in Washington.

The Capitals squandered a pair of one-goal leads before Nic Dowd scored 4:41 into OT to complete their 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins. 

Tom Wilson and Brenden Dillon also scored for the Caps, who finished the game with Craig Anderson in goal after Vitek Vanecek (VEE'-tehk VAN'-eh-chehk) was injured early in the game. Anderson finished with 21 saves on 22 shots.

Jake DeBrusk and Nick Ritchie tallied for the Bruins, who will try to even the series on Monday.

Meanwhile, the North Division regular-season schedule drones on due to games postponed by COVID-19 concerns.

The Oilers capped their regular-season slate with a 4-1 loss to the Canucks. Edmonton captain Connor McDavid assisted on Adam Larson's goal to finish the season with an NHL-leading 105 points. 

Matthew Highmore scored twice for the Canucks, who have three games remaining against Calgary and with no chance for either team to win a playoff berth.
