KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs have won five in a row to lead the AFC West after knocking off the Broncos on Sunday night, but they hardly look like themselves on offense. They've scored touchdowns on seven of their 12 drives to open games this season, but once they go off script things begin to bog down. The Chiefs reached the end zone against Denver to start the game, then made it back only when Daniel Sorensen returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown. It's a troubling trend as Kansas City hits the home stretch in search of a sixth consecutive division championship.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska football star and 1972 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Rodgers was in an Omaha hospital intensive care unit with COVID-19 and other complications. Business partner Denny Drake told The Omaha World-Herald that Rodgers was hospitalized Thanksgiving morning. Drake says the 70-year-old Rodgers seemed to improve after a few days, but took a turn for the worse last week and was placed in the ICU. Drake says Rodgers has since improved and is feeling much better.&nbsp;

NEW YORK (AP) — Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson are among the four finalists for the Heisman Trophy, which will be presented on Saturday. Young and Hutchinson just led their teams to conference titles and berths in the CFP semifinals. 

Young broke the SEC championship game record with 421 yards passing in a victory against Georgia's vaunted defense on Saturday. The sophomore has thrown for 4,322 yards, 43 touchdowns and just four interceptions this season.

Hutchinson has 14 sacks and helped the Wolverines end an eight-game losing streak to rival Ohio State.

Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett and Ohio State signal-caller C.J. Stroud are the other finalists. Pickett passed for 4,319 yards with 42 touchdowns this year to eclipse school marks. Stroud has completed 71% of his passes for 3,862 yards, 38 touchdowns and five interceptions in his first year as a starter.

Miami, Colorado State hire football coaches

UNDATED (AP) — Miami and Colorado State hired new head football coaches on Monday, while Notre Dame and Oklahoma unveiled their coaching hires.

Mario Cristobal is back with his alma mater, leaving Oregon to become the Hurricanes' head coach. He replaces Manny Diaz, who was dismissed on Monday after going 21-15 in three seasons, including a 7-5 mark this year.

Cristobal went 35-13 with two Pac-12 titles as head coach of the Ducks. Oregon tried to retain him as the team went from CFP contenders earlier this season to losers of the conference title game against Utah.

Colorado State hired the first Black head football coach in program history Monday, bringing in Nevada's Jay Norvell to take over for Steve Addazio. Norvell is coming off a season in which he guided the Wolf Pack to an 8-4 record and a spot in the Quick Lane Bowl. The offensive innovator has led his team to bowl games in four of the five seasons he's been at Nevada, going 33-26 since being hired by the Wolf Pack in December 2016.

Marcus Freeman was formally introduced as the 30th head football coach of the Fighting Irish as he replaces Brian Kelly, who became the program's all-time winningest coach this season before heading to LSU. Brent Venables takes over at Oklahoma after successful runs as defensive coordinator for the Sooners and Clemson since 2004.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Patriots have sole possession of first place in the AFC East following a 14-10 win over the second-place Bills.

Damien Harris scored on a 64-yard run in blustery conditions in which Mac Jones attempted just three passes. The Pats outgained the Bills 222 to 99 in yards rushing, with Harris delivering a season-high 111. 

Defensive back Miles Bryant sealed the victory by batting down Josh Allen's pass at the goal line with Buffalo facing fourth-and-14 at New England's 18 with 1:55 remaining. 

Bills QB Josh Allen was 15 of 30 for 145 yards and a TD.

New England is 9-4 following its seventh win in a row. Buffalo is 7-5.

UNDATED (AP) — The Phoenix Suns have returned to their winning ways.

The Suns are the first NBA team to have 20 victories after Chris Paul delivered 21 points and 10 assists in a 108-104 downing of the Spurs. Paul converted a three-point play that allowed the Suns to ice the win.

Jae Crowder had a season-high 19 points, for Phoenix, which played for the first time since their team-record 18-game winning streak ended at Golden State on Friday.

The Spurs had their four-game winning streak snapped. Dejaunte (deh-ZHAHN';-tay) Murray was high man for San Antonio with 17 points, while Bryn Forbes added 15 off the bench.

— Andrew Wiggins made a career-high eight 3-pointers on the way to 28 points as the Warriors hammered the Magic, 126-95. Wiggins scored 17 of his points in the third quarter, knocking down three straight 3s over a span of 1:14. Steph Curry had 31 points and eight assists as Golden State bounced back after seeing its 11-game home winning streak end against the Spurs on Saturday.

— Paul George scored 21 points and the Clippers handed the shorthanded Trail Blazers their third straight loss, 102-90. Marcus Morris Jr. added 17 points and Luke Kennard finished with 15 in his first start of the season. Jusuf Nurkic (YOO'-suhf NUR'-kihch) had a season-high 31 points for Portland.

— Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH'-nihs an-teh-toh-KOON'-poh) came back from a two-game absence and scored 27 points on his 27th birthday, guiding the Bucks to a 112-104 victory over the Cavaliers. — Zach LaVine scored 32 points and the Bulls shook off the absence of DeMar DeRozan to beat the Nuggets 109-97. Lonzo Ball and Nikola Vucevic (VOO'-she-vihch) each had 20 points and 10 rebounds for Chicago, hours after DeRozan entered the NBA's health and safety protocols. — Dillon Brooks and Desmond Bane scored 21 points each in the Grizzlies' fifth win in a row, 105-90 at Miami. All five Grizzlies' starters finished in double figures as Steven Adams had 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Tyus Jones and Jaren Jackson scored 14 points apiece. Memphis opened the game on a 20-6 run and built an 11-point halftime lead.

— The Hawks were 121-110 winners over the Timberwolves as Trae Young contributed 29 points and 11 assists. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot added 23 points and shot 7-for-14 from 3-point range. Danilo Gallinari scored 20 points off the bench as the Hawks set season-highs in makes and attempts from beyond the arc.

— Joel Embiid (joh-EHL' ehm-BEED') had a season-high 43 points to go with 15 rebounds and seven assists in the 76ers' 127-124 overtime win against the Hornets. Embiid had six of Philadelphia's eight points in OT to lead the Sixers to their second straight win. Tobias Harris returned from a one-game absence due to illness and had 21 points and 11 rebounds as the 76ers shot 52.9% from the field. 

— The Pacers earned a 116-110 win over the Wizards behind 30 points, 10 rebounds and six assists from Domantas Sabonis (doh-MAHN'-tahs sah-BOH'-nihs). Caris LeVert had 19 points and Malcolm Brogdon added 17 with eight assists in Indiana's first win in five games. Three-time All-Star guard Bradley Beal scored 34 points to lead the Wizards, who have lost three straight and four of five. 

— The Thunder's eight-game losing streak is over after Shea Gilgeous-Alexander had 30 points and 13 assists in their 114-103 decision over the Pistons. Lu Dort scored 28 points for Oklahoma City, which trailed by 12 in the fourth quarter before going on a 25-8 run. Cade Cunningham had 28 points and 11 rebounds in Detroit's ninth loss in a row.

US plans diplomatic boycott of Beijing Winter Olympics

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House says the U.S. will stage a diplomatic boycott of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Beijing to protest Chinese human rights abuses. It's a move that China has vowed to greet with "firm countermeasures." 

White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters during Monday's briefing that U.S. athletes will continue to compete and will "have our full support." The administration, however, won't dispatch U.S. dignitaries to attend the games. 

Psaki says the U.S. has a "fundamental commitment to promoting human rights" and says the U.S. "will not be contributing to the fanfare of the games."

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — The 3-year-old colt whose Kentucky Derby victory in May came under scrutiny because of a positive drug test has collapsed and died after a workout at Santa Anita in Southern California. 

Trainer Bob Baffert says Medina Spirit suffered a heart attack. The colt had just completed five furlongs in his second workout since finishing second in the Breeders' Cup Classic a month ago at Del Mar. 

The colt will undergo a full necropsy to try to determine the exact cause of death.

UNDATED (AP) — Seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones and two others can start practicing with the Tennessee Titans again, a big step toward rejoining the active roster. 

The Titans also designated rookie wide receiver Racey McMath and safety Dane Cruikshank to return to practice. Getting this trio back could be a big boost for the 8-4 Titans who currently sit atop the AFC South. 

UNDATED (AP) — Monday's top-25 men's basketball schedule has begun with a stunner.

Texas Southern became the first Southwestern Athletic Conference team to beat a ranked SEC program in The Associated Press poll era dating to 1936. The previously-winless Tigers stunned No. 20 Florida 69-54 behind PJ Henry's 16 points. Karl Nicholas finished with 14 points on 7-for-7 shooting for Texas Southern, which was coming off a 27-point loss to Louisiana Tech and were 23 1/2-point underdogs against the Gators. 

Florida struggled all night, shooting 38.2% from the field and hitting 5 of 24 from 3-point range.

Brandon McKissic led the Gators with 15 points.

— Tramon Mark scored 18 points off the bench and Marcus Sasser had 17 with a career-high six steals as No. 14 Houston hammered Alcorn State, 77-45. The 8-1 Cougars shot 47% in their fourth straight win.

UNDATED (AP) — Purdue is No. 1 in The Associated Press men's college basketball poll for the first time. The Boilermakers were a unanimous No. 1 in the poll to move up from No. 2 last week. 

Reigning national champion Baylor moved up to No. 2, with Duke, UCLA and Gonzaga rounding out the top five.

The Flyers' suffered their ninth consecutive loss hours after firing head coach Alain Vigneault (VEEN'-yah) and assistant Michel Therrien (TEHR'-ee-ehn). Seven different Avalanche players scored in their 7-5 win at Philadelphia.

Erik Johnson had a goal and an assist as part of Colorado's 50-shot assault. Nazem Kadri (NA'-zehm KA'-dree), Gabriel Landeskog (LAN'-dehs-kahg), Alex Newhook, Cale Makar (mah-KAHR'), Valeri Nichushkin (nih-CHOOSH'-kihn) and Tyson Jost also scored for the Avs.

Mike Yeo (yoh) took over as interim coach of the Flyers, who are one off the team record for consecutive losses.

— John Carlson tied the game late in the second period and then scored Washington's third and final shootout goal to give the Capitals a 4-3 victory over the Ducks. Tom Wilson scored his 100th career goal and Carl Hagelin (HAG'-lihn) added his first of the season for Washington.

— Jamie Benn assisted on Jacob Peterson's tiebreaking goal midway through the third period before adding a pair of late scores to secure the Stars' 4-1 win against the Coyotes. — Bruce Boudreau won his first game as coach of the Canucks as Thatcher Demko turned back 30 shots in his first shutout of the season, 4-0 versus the Kings. Brock Boeser and J.T. Jets' Pionk suspended; Leafs' Spezza offered hearing for hit

NEW YORK (AP) — Winnipeg defenseman Neal Pionk was suspended two games Monday for a knee-on-knee hit on Toronto's Rasmus Sandin in the third period Sunday. 

After the hit on Sandin, Maple Leafs center Jason Spezza drove his left knee into the face of Pionk, who was stickless and on his knees trying to clear a puck. Spezza has been offered an in-person hearing with NHL, and likely will be suspended. In-person hearings are required for any suspension that could be at least six games.

Nonprofit to offer Texas offensive linemen $50,000 annually

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A new organization says it will provide every Texas Longhorns offensive lineman on scholarship $50,000 annually for use of their name, image and likeness to support charitable causes. 

Horns with Heart said the program will start in August 2022. It hopes to expand it to other football position groups and Longhorns athletes in the future. 

2019 US Open champ Andreescu takes time off for mental break

UNDATED (AP) — 2019 U.S. Open champion Bianca Andreescu (an-dree-EHS'-koo) says she will take a mental break from tennis and sit out the start of next season, including the Australian Open. 

Andreescu said Monday in a posting on Twitter that she wants to "re-set, recover, and grow" after a challenging two years that included getting COVID-19. 

Andreescu joins other professional athletes who have cited the need for time away from competition to gather themselves mentally.

PARIS (AP) — French Open director Guy Forget has stepped down. The French Tennis Federation says Forget's contract was to expire at the end of the year. The federation adds his replacement at the helm of the clay-court Grand Slam tournament will be announced soon. Forget had been running Roland Garros since 2016. He also resigned as director of the Paris Masters, which he has led since 2012.

 Forget was a former top tennis player who achieved a career-best ranking of No. 4 in the early 1990s. Stade Roland Garros has undergone a major facelift during Forget's tenure. There's been the addition of a retractable roof on Court Philippe-Chatrier and the building of a stunning new court surrounded by greenhouses filled with exotic plants.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs have won five in a row to lead the AFC West after knocking off the Broncos on Sunday night, but they hardly look like themselves on offense. They've scored touchdowns on seven of their 12 drives to open games this season, but once they go off script things begin to bog down. The Chiefs reached the end zone against Denver to start the game, then made it back only when Daniel Sorensen returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown. It's a troubling trend as Kansas City hits the home stretch in search of a sixth consecutive division championship.

Daniel Sorenson returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown for Kansas City Patrick Mahomes had 184 yards passing with a touchdown run and an interception for the Chiefs, who now lead the Chargers by a game and the Broncos and Raiders by two in their race for a sixth straight AFC West championship. Javonte Williams started in place of the injured Melvin Gordon III and had 102 yards rushing along with a late touchdown catch for the Broncos. They have lost 12 straight to Kansas City.

UNDATED (AP) — Buck O'Neil, a champion of Black ballplayers during a monumental, eight-decade career on and off the field, has joined Minnie Miñoso, Gil Hodges and three others in being elected to the baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday. Former Minnesota Twins teammates Tony Oliva and Jim Kaat also were chosen along with Bud Fowler by a pair of veterans committees. Longtime slugger Dick Allen, who died last December, fell one vote shy of election. The six newcomers will be enshrined in Cooperstown, New York, next July along with any new members elected by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. David Ortiz, Barry Bonds and Alex Rodriguez are on that ballot.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Markquis Nowell scored seven of his 16 points in the final 1:35 and Kansas State used a late surge to defeat Wichita State 65-59 in the renewal of an in-state rivalry. Just after Ricky Council IV knocked down a 3-pointer to tie the game at 52 with 2:02 to play, Nowell answered with a deep 3. Following a Shockers miss, Nowell made two free throws with a minute to go. Nowell's two free throws made it 64-58 lead with 14 seconds to play. Morris Udeze scored 19 points for Wichita State.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Caitlin Clark had her second triple-double of the season with 24 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds, and McKenna Warnock had 21 points as No. 9 Iowa beat Michigan State 88-61 for coach Lisa Bluder's 800th career victory. Monika Czinano added 19 points as the Hawkeyes bounced back from Thursday's 79-64 loss to Duke. That was their first game since Nov. 17 after a COVID-19 outbreak within the program forced the cancellation of three games. Bluder is 800-377 in her career and 444-235 at Iowa. Nia Clouden led Michigan State with 18 points.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Sisters Aubrey and Ashley Joens had double-doubles and No. 14 Iowa State bounced back from its first loss with a 94-56 win over Longwood. Sophomore Aubrey Joens had career highs of 24 points and 14 rebounds and senior Ashley Joens had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Beatriz Jordao, a senior transfer from South Florida, scored a career-high 14 points and Emily Ryan and Lexi Donarski 13 for the Cyclones, who play host to No. 9 Iowa on Wednesday. Iowa State lost to LSU 69-60 on Wednesday. Kyla McMakin scored 19 points for the Lancers (3-4).

UNDATED (AP) — Preseason Top 10 teams Clemson and Iowa State will meet in the Cheez-It Bowl Dec. 29 in Orlando, Florida. The 19th-ranked Tigers opened the season ranked third and aiming for another playoff berth. They managed to close the regular season with a five-game winning streak. The Cyclones were preseason No. 7 before falling to 7-5. But they're making their school-record fifth straight bowl appearance. Clemson is bound for its 17th consecutive bowl game even if the Tigers' six-year playoff streak ended.

UNDATED (AP) — No. 17 Iowa and No. 25 Kentucky will meet for the first time in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1. The Hawkeyes won the Big Ten West Division before falling to No. 2 Michigan 42-3 in the conference championship on Saturday. Their defense ranks in the top 15 nationally in scoring and rushing. The Wildcats finished 9-3 for the first time since 2018 and clinched second place in the SEC East. Buccaneers on brink of an NFC South title 

UNDATED (AP) — Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski teamed up for more history. 

Brady threw for 368 yards and four touchdowns — two of them to his longtime favorite target — as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons, 30-17. Brady and Gronkowski have now connected on 90 regular-season TD passes in their careers. 

The Bucs improve to 9-3 moved to the brink of clinching the NFC South title. They have a four-game lead with five games remaining. 

— The Pittsburgh Steelers edged the Baltimore Ravens 20-19 after turning aside a 2-point try by Baltimore in the final seconds. The Ravens pulled within one with 12 seconds to go and opted for a 2-point conversion instead of forcing overtime with an extra point. Lamar Jackson's flip to tight end Mark Andrews fell incomplete.

— Justin Herbert passed for three touchdowns and Tevaughn Campbell returned a Joe Mixon fumble 61 yards for a score, helping the Los Angeles Chargers hold off the Cincinnati Bengals for a 41-22 victory. Herbert was 26 of 35 for 317 yards. Mike Williams had five receptions for 110 yards, and Keenan Allen caught two of Herbert's TD passes.

— The Los Angeles Rams snapped their three-game losing streak with a 37-7 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson and Odell Beckham Jr. caught touchdown passes from Matthew Stafford. Stafford passed for 295 yards while Sony Michel rushed for 121 yards and a score. 

— Jonathan Taylor ran for 143 yards and two touchdowns and the Indianapolis Colts rolled to an easy 31-0 win over the hapless Houston Texans. The Texans turned the ball over twice in the first quarter and quarterback Tyrod Taylor was benched in the third quarter as Houston lost for the ninth time in 10 games. 

— The Lions are winless no more. Jared Goff threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown as time expired, lifting the previously winless Detroit Lions to a 29-27 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Goff led the Lions on a 75-yard decisive possession without a timeout after Kirk Cousins threw a go-ahead 3-yard touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson with 1:50 left. 

— Taylor Heinicke threw two touchdown passes and set up new kicker Brian Johnson's game-winning 48-yard field goal with 37 seconds remaining to lead Washington to its fourth straight win with a 17-15 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Heinicke threw a 7-yard TD pass to Logan Thomas on the opening drive and a 4-yarder to Antonio Gibson early in the fourth quarter.

— The Seattle Seahawks made a late goal line stand to beat the San Francisco 49ers, 30-23. Russell Wilson played his best game since returning from finger surgery, throwing for 231 yards and two touchdowns as Seattle snapped a three-game losing streak. 

 — Tua Tagovailoa (tag-oh-vay-LOH'-ah) threw a pair of short touchdown passes and the Miami Dolphins extended their winning streak to five games by topping the New York Giants 20-9. Isaiah Ford and Mack Hollins had the scoring grabs for Miami. Rookie Jaelan Phillips had two more sacks to give him five in his last two games. 

— Gardner Minshew started in place of an injured Jalen Hurts and led the clock-eating Philadelphia Eagles to scores on their first seven possessions in a 33-18 victory over the New York Jets. Minshew was 20 of 25 for 242 yards and two touchdowns.

Mitchell scores 35, Jazz hold off Cavaliers 

UNDATED (AP) — Donovan Mitchell scored 35 points, Rudy Gobert (goh-BEHR') had 20 rebounds and five blocks and the Utah Jazz beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 109-108. 

Bojan (BOY'-ahn) Bogdanovic added 16 points and Rudy Gay had 15 for Utah, which made 20 3-pointers but gave away a 15-point lead in the fourth. 

The Cavs had a chance to win in the final seconds, but Darius Garland missed a 28-footer with 2.9 seconds to go, and Jarrett Allen couldn't get his tip to drop. 

— A short-handed Charlotte team that leaned on its best 3-point shooting game of the season to beat Atlanta, 130-127. The Hornets made a season-high 17 3s, with Kelly Oubre Jr. making six 3s and scoring 28 points. Miles Bridges led Charlotte with 32 points.

— Pascal Siakam scored 31 points, Precious Achiuwa (ah-CHOO'-ah) had 10 points and 14 rebounds, and the Toronto Raptors beat the Washington Wizards 102-90. 

— Eric Gordon and Christian Wood both scored 23 points, and Houston beat New Orleans, 118-108, for its sixth straight win. Brandon Ingram scored a season-high 40 points for the Pelicans.

— The Tampa Bay Lightning crushed the slumping Philadelphia Flyers, 7-1. Corey Perry had two goals and an assist and Ryan McDonagh scored and had a pair of assists for the Lightning. The Flyers have lost eight in a row. 

— The Columbus Blue Jackets snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-4 come-from-behind win over the San Jose Sharks.

Canucks dump 3 execs, coach, name veteran Boudreau coach 

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — The Vancouver Canucks cleaned house late Sunday night, dumping three executives and head coach Travis Green and replacing him with veteran Bruce Boudreau. 

The Canucks say general manager Jim Benning, assistant manager Jim Weisbrod, Green and assistant coach Nolan Baumgartner were all fired. 

The changes follow a dismal performance Saturday in which the Pittsburgh Penguins routed the Canucks 4-1, and the home crowd booed and chanted of "fire Benning!"

IRVING, Texas (AP) — The College Football Playoff is set: Cincinnati will play Alabama in the Cotton Bowl and Michigan will face Georgia in the Orange Bowl on New Year's Eve.

Fourth-seeded Cincinnati becomes the first team to break through the CFP's glass ceiling and make college football's final four from a non-Power Five conference. The Bearcats won the American Athletic Conference and head into the postseason as the only unbeaten team in the country. Their reward will be a matchup with the defending national champions. 

The Crimson Tide is in the playoff for the seventh time in its eight-year history.

Michigan is making its first appearance in the playoff. Georgia is in for the second time, and first since the 2017 season.

Notre Dame against Oklahoma in Fiesta Bowl

UNDATED (AP) — Fifth-ranked Notre Dame will face No. 9 Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl in a matchup of two teams that just missed the College Football Playoff.

The Crimson Tide reclaimed the top spot in The Associated Press college football poll after beating previously top-ranked Georgia. Defending national champion Alabama, which was No. 1 for the first six weeks of this season, jumped three spots after dominating the Southeastern Conference title game. The Bulldogs fell to No. 3. 

In between, Michigan was No. 2 for a second straight week after winning the Big Ten Conference championship for the first time since 2004. Cincinnati slipped a spot to No. 4. The Bearcats are the only remaining unbeaten FBS team in the country.

Oklahoma hires Clemson's Brent Venables to replace Riley

UNDATED (AP) — Oklahoma has hired Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables as its head coach to replace Lincoln Riley. Venables was on Oklahoma's staff under Bob Stoops as co-defensive coordinator from 1999 to 2003 and defensive coordinator from 2004 to 2011. At Clemson, he won the Broyles Award in 2016 as the nation's top assistant. 

— No. 16 Louisiana-Lafayette has promoted co-offensive coordinator and former Ragin' Cajuns quarterback Michael Desormeaux to head coach. The announcement comes less than 24 hours after Billy Napier won his final game as Cajuns coach in the Sun Belt Conference championship game against Appalachian State.

Hovland started six shots behind and made up ground with consecutive eagles and a surprising collapse by Collin Morikawa. Medvedev-led Russia wins Davis Cup after 15-year wait

MADRID (AP) — Russia's 15-year wait for a Davis Cup title has ended after another clutch performance by Daniil Medvedev. He beat Marin Cilic 7-6, 6-2 in the second singles match to give Russia an insurmountable 2-0 lead over Croatia in the final on Sunday. It is Russia's third Davis Cup title, and first since 2006.

Kan. — The Hutchinson Blue Dragon Quarterback Club Hall of Fame committee announced a five-member group to its 2022 induction class.

The announcement of the 45th, 46th, 47th, 48th and 49th members of the Hall of Fame was made at halftime of Saturday’s Hutchinson-Butler men’s basketball game at the Sports Arena.

The 2022 induction class includes the 2001 Blue Dragon women’s cross country team, women’s soccer players Alicia Robinson and Melissa Heatherington, two-sport athlete Deron McCue and former player-coach-athletic director Randy Stange.

Hall of Fame Induction Day is Saturday, February 5 with the induction ceremony taking place at halftime of the Hutchinson-Coffeyville men’s basketball game here at the Sports Arena.

2001 BLUE DRAGON WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM

Just more than 20 years ago, the 2001 Blue Dragon women’s cross country team started the season ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA Division II national rankings. After a few tense moments after the completion of the Division II Championships, the Blue Dragons proved the preseason prognosticators right by winning the NJCAA Division II national championship – Blue Dragon Athletics’ fifth overall national title and first for a Hutchinson women’s program.

Led by legendary head coach and Quarterback Club Hall of Fame member, the late Terry Masterson, Three Blue Dragons runners finished in the top 15 to earn All-America status on November 11, 2001 at Lansing, Mich.

Pam Shelite was Hutchinson’s top runner with a fourth-place finish. Lisa Volk finished seventh and Ruth Limo – who held the Blue Dragon cross country 5,000-meter record for 19 years – placed 10th at nationals and all three earned NJCAA All-America honors.

The 2021 Blue Dragon women’s cross country team is the second team – joining the 1988 Blue Dragon men’s basketball team – to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

ALICIA ROBINSON - Women’s Soccer 2010-11

Women’s Soccer midfielder Alicia Robinson played for the Blue Dragons in 2010 and 2011.

Considered the best midfielder in Blue Dragon women’s soccer history, Robinson was a two-time Jayhawk Conference Offensive Player of the Year, earning honorable mention NJCAA All-America honors in 2010 and second team All-America honors in 2011.

The sophomore midfielder from Telford, England finished with a team career-record 42 assists. She also ranks fourth in career points (90) and tied for seventh in career goals (24).

Robinson scored 12 goals and led the nation with a school-record 27 assists in 2011, tying for third on the team with 51 points.

Robinson had four game-winning goals in her career, none bigger than the overtime goal she scored against Butler in the Region VI championship game in 2011.

MELISSA HETHERINGTON - Women’s Soccer 2011-12

Joining Robinson is the first of Blue Dragon women’s soccer’s great scorers – Melissa Hetherington.

Hetherington remains the program’s all-time leader in career points (166), goals (66), game-winning goals (14) and hat tricks (9).

She ranks third and fourth in single season points (86 in 2011; 80 in 2012), third and fifth in goals scored (36 in 2011; 30 in 2012) and first and tied for second in game-winning goals (8 in 2011, 6 in 2012).

Hetherington still owns the single-game records for points (16) and goals (7). She also had two games with six goals.

Hetherington was a two-time all-KJCCC and All-Region VI first-team selection. She was a first-team NJCAA All-American in 2011 and second-team All-American in 2012.

DERON McCUE - Baseball/Football 1981-83

Deron McCue was an all-conference selection in both baseball and football for the Blue Dragons.

RANDY STANGE - Men’s BKB/Tennis (1979-81), coach (94-97) AD (97-15)

Randy Stange is the only member of the Hall to play, coach and be an administrator for Blue Dragon Athletics.

Stange was a men’s basketball player for Gary Bargen from 1979 through 1981 where Hutch won one Jayhawk West and one Region VI title. He also played tennis for the Blue Dragons.

Kan. — The Hutchinson Blue Dragon Quarterback Club Hall of Fame committee announced a five-member group to its 2022 induction class.The announcement of the 45th, 46th, 47th, 48th and 49th members of the Hall of Fame was made at halftime of Saturday’s Hutchinson-Butler men’s basketball game at the Sports Arena.The 2022 induction class includes the 2001 Blue Dragon women’s cross country team, women’s soccer players Alicia Robinson and Melissa Heatherington, two-sport athlete Deron McCue and former player-coach-athletic director Randy Stange.Hall of Fame Induction Day is Saturday, February 5 with the induction ceremony taking place at halftime of the Hutchinson-Coffeyville men’s basketball game here at the Sports Arena.2001 BLUE DRAGON WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAMJust more than 20 years ago, the 2001 Blue Dragon women’s cross country team started the season ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA Division II national rankings. After a few tense moments after the completion of the Division II Championships, the Blue Dragons proved the preseason prognosticators right by winning the NJCAA Division II national championship – Blue Dragon Athletics’ fifth overall national title and first for a Hutchinson women’s program.Led by legendary head coach and Quarterback Club Hall of Fame member, the late Terry Masterson, Three Blue Dragons runners finished in the top 15 to earn All-America status on November 11, 2001 at Lansing, Mich.Pam Shelite was Hutchinson’s top runner with a fourth-place finish. Lisa Volk finished seventh and Ruth Limo – who held the Blue Dragon cross country 5,000-meter record for 19 years – placed 10th at nationals and all three earned NJCAA All-America honors.The 2021 Blue Dragon women’s cross country team is the second team – joining the 1988 Blue Dragon men’s basketball team – to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.ALICIA ROBINSON - Women’s Soccer 2010-11Women’s Soccer midfielder Alicia Robinson played for the Blue Dragons in 2010 and 2011.Considered the best midfielder in Blue Dragon women’s soccer history, Robinson was a two-time Jayhawk Conference Offensive Player of the Year, earning honorable mention NJCAA All-America honors in 2010 and second team All-America honors in 2011.The sophomore midfielder from Telford, England finished with a team career-record 42 assists. She also ranks fourth in career points (90) and tied for seventh in career goals (24).Robinson scored 12 goals and led the nation with a school-record 27 assists in 2011, tying for third on the team with 51 points.Robinson had four game-winning goals in her career, none bigger than the overtime goal she scored against Butler in the Region VI championship game in 2011.MELISSA HETHERINGTON - Women’s Soccer 2011-12Joining Robinson is the first of Blue Dragon women’s soccer’s great scorers – Melissa Hetherington.Hetherington remains the program’s all-time leader in career points (166), goals (66), game-winning goals (14) and hat tricks (9).She ranks third and fourth in single season points (86 in 2011; 80 in 2012), third and fifth in goals scored (36 in 2011; 30 in 2012) and first and tied for second in game-winning goals (8 in 2011, 6 in 2012).Hetherington still owns the single-game records for points (16) and goals (7). She also had two games with six goals.Hetherington was a two-time all-KJCCC and All-Region VI first-team selection.
