ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Kansas City Royals at St. Louis Cardinals game has been postponed because of inclement weather. The teams will make up Wednesday's postponed game on Monday, May 2, at 3:15 p.m. Central time at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals won the first game 6-5 on Tuesday night as Albert Pujols homered for the first time since returning to St. Louis. It is the second Cardinals game to be postponed this week. Monday's home game was also postponed because of weather.

UNDATED (AP) — Jirehl Brock's time has arrived at Iowa State. He showed up in Ames as a four-star recruit and ranked as one of the nation's top running back prospects. For three seasons he waited his turn behind Breece Hall. Brock said he never considered transferring. As the Cyclones wrap up spring practice this week, Brock has a firm hold on the No. 1 running back's job. The fourth-year junior from Quincy, Illinois, is the successor to one of the most dynamic playmakers in program history. Brock appeared in 27 games as a backup the past three years.

UNDATED (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks and New Orleans Pelicans have extended their seasons by winning their respective NBA play-in games.

Trae Young bounced back from a sluggish start to finish with 24 points in the Hawks' 132-103 dismantling of the Hornets. De'Andre Hunter provided 16 of his 22 points while the Hawks outscored Charlotte, 42-24 in the third quarter to take a 27-point lead.

Clint Capela had 15 points and 17 rebounds for Atlanta, which played without John Collins and Lou Williams.

The Hawks will take on the Cavaliers on Friday, with the winner advancing to the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

Bauer was placed on seven days' paid leave last July 2 under the joint domestic violence and sexual assault policy of MLB and the union. A Southern California woman said he choked her into unconsciousness, punched her repeatedly and had anal sex with her without her consent during two sexual encounters earlier last year. MLB and the union have since agreed to several extensions.

— The Twins placed left fielder Alex Kirilloff on the 10-day injured list with inflammation in his surgically repaired right wrist. Outfielder Trevor Larnach was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to replace the 24-year-old Kirilloff on the roster.

UNDATED (AP) — A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that the Las Vegas Raiders have given quarterback Derek Carr a three-year contract extension worth $121.5 million.

The eight-year veteran was entering the final year of his deal, worth nearly $19.8 million in base salary. That contract was for five years at $125 million, the richest in the NFL at the time he signed it in 2017.

Carr helped them to the playoffs as a wild card in the tough AFC West. He threw for a career-high 4,804 yards and 23 touchdowns as Las Vegas went 10-7 before losing at Cincinnati in the postseason.

The Nielsen company said CBS' coverage of the final round averaged nearly 10.2 million viewers — the most for any golf telecast since 2019, when Woods last won the coveted green jacket.

Shirley Spork one of 13 founders of LPGA, dies at 94

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The LPGA says Shirley Spork died Tuesday at her home in California at age 94.

Her death comes two weeks after Spork learned she would be inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame. She never won a tournament.

Spork helped launch the tour with 12 other women and inspired the LPGA Teaching &amp; Club Pro Division that now has more than 1,700 members.

Nolan Arenado also went deep for St. Louis, which has won 20 of 27 interleague games against the in-state Royals since 2017. Salvador Perez homered twice and Michael A. Taylor also connected for Kansas City, which has allowed 33 runs in losing its last three games. The 42-year-old Pujols, who also singled twice in a 3-for-4 performance, signed with St. Louis on March 28 for his final season. The star slugger played for the Cardinals from 2001-11, helping them win two World Series.

Tuesday was a long day for&nbsp;Hutchinson Salthawks , falling to Salina South 12-2..Salina South knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the second inning.&nbsp;Dylan Roberts's sac fly scored one run for Salina South. 

Salina South pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. 

In the third&nbsp;Parker Benoit&nbsp;homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs. South scored a total of five runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Salina South came thanks to home runs by&nbsp;Weston Fries&nbsp;and&nbsp;Garrett Allis.

 Zach Davidson&nbsp;pitched Salina South to victory. He surrendered two runs on two hits over five and a third innings, striking out seven.&nbsp;Luke Simpson&nbsp;threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. 

Lakin Franz&nbsp;took the loss for&nbsp;Hutchinson . Franz allowed 12 hits and nine runs over five innings, striking out five and walking zero.

WELLINGTON — The battle of Crusaders on the diamond Monday was a split, as Wellington won over Buhler 4-1 in game one for Wellington's first win all year, with Buhler bouncing back for a 15-2 win in game two. Buhler is now 7-2 on the year.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Steven Kwan kept up an historic start to his big league career with a bases-loaded triple, Oscar Mercado added a two-run homer and the Cleveland Guardians beat Kansas City 10-7 to split their season-opening series Monday at Kaufman Stadium. 

Kwan became the first player in big league history to begin his career by reaching base at least three times in each of his first four games. He was 9 of 13 for the series, reaching base in 15 of 19 plate appearances. Logan Allen earned the win for with two scoreless innings of relief in his first appearance of the season. Jake Brentz took the loss for the Royals.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College wide receiver&nbsp;Malik Benson has listed the Florida Gators as one of the 11 teams he will ultimately decide between to carry out the remainder of his college football eligibility. Benson, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, is currently part of the 2023 recruiting class.

Last season, Benson hauled in 43 passes for 1,229 yards and 11 touchdowns with the Blue Dragons. He currently has 22 Division I offers, including from Florida that he received on March 1, and is one of the more highly-coveted junior college receivers in the nation.

Benson has one more year at the JUCO level before jumping to the Division I level, but that shouldn't be an issue.

Along with the Gators, Benson listed Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee. That's seven different Southeastern Conference schools aside from Florida.

Wichita, KS – The Tulsa Drillers scored five first inning runs and despite the Wind Surge’s nine hits and tough plays by Spencer Steer and Austin Martin, the Surge were unable to bounce back in a 7-3 loss Sunday at Riverfront Stadium. Tulsa swept Wichita in the three game series.

Chris Vallimont made his first appearance of the season, throwing 35 pitches in the first inning. With two out on the board, Kody Funderburk came in for relief and finished the remainder of the first and threw through the middle of the fourth.

Austin Martin had a big day doubling in the first inning off the second pitch, thrown by Drillers starter John Rooney. Spencer Steer brought Martin home with an RBI double to center field.

Steer is a returning player for the Surge and smacked the first two hits of the day on Friday and Saturday. Steer came into Sunday’s matchup with seven appearances at bat and held a .429 slugging percentage.

The Drillers scored two more runs, one in the fourth and ninth. The Surge ended their scoring drought with an RBI from Andrew Bechtold. Following Bechtold, Cole Sturgeon took home on Chris Williams’s RBI sacrifice fly ball.

Wichita will travel to Springdale, Arkansas, to take on the Naturals Tuesday evening. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

He threw a second wild pitch and allowed Carson Taylor to score an unearned run for the Drillers.The two teams battled back and forth but remained scoreless until the tenth when Drillers Brandon Lewis brought in Kody Hoese with an RBI single.With one out in the bottom of the 10th Austin Martin hit a fly ball to right center field.
