🏀 WBB: No. 9 Dragons power past NEO with big third quarter

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — No. 9 Hutchinson (3-0) held just an 18-14 advantage after one quarter Saturday night against NEO (0-2).

The Dragons outscored its first two opponents 172-92.

Hutchinson still put up 84 points, but gave up 61 in the process.

Hutchinson managed just a 38-33 lead at halftime as NEO capitalized on 16 points off nine Dragon turnovers.

Hutchinson only turned the ball over four times in the second half and Mya Williams shook off her 1-of-6 cold streak to finish the game with 21 points (18 in the second half).

Kali Howard just missed a double-double with 18 points and eight rebounds. She opened the season with back-to-back double-doubles, the first two of her career.

Journey Armstead notched 14 points thanks to 7 of 8 shooting from the charity stripe. She also dished seven assists.

The Golden Norse did not score any points off Dragon turnovers in the second half.

The Dragons added 20 points in the paint in the second half (32 total for the game) and outscored NEO by 15 in the third quarter.

The Dragons are back in action at home Wednesday, Nov. 9, against Washburn's JV. This game was originally scheduled for Nov. 8, but had to be moved because of a scheduling conflict.
