KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — MJ Melendez hit a two-run homer, Salvador Perez drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out double in the seventh inning, and the Kansas City Royals held off the rapidly fading Minnesota Twins 5-4 on Tuesday night to open their final homestand of the season.

Dylan Coleman (5-2) pitched a scoreless seventh for the Royals, then Scott Barlow cleaned up Jose Cuas' mess by striking out Mark Contreras to strand runners on second and third in the eighth, before handling the ninth for his 22nd save.

“It was a tough game,” said Twins manager Rocco Baldelli, whose club has dropped five of six to begin an eight-game trip, including four of five to AL Central-leading Cleveland. “Things didn't go the way we would have liked.”

The Royals trailed 3-0 in the second, pulled ahead in the fifth and were still tied 4-all when Melendez doubled off Twins reliever Michael Fulmer (5-6) in the seventh. Bobby Witt Jr. followed with a double, then took third when Melendez tried to score and was thrown out by Twins left fielder Jake Cave on a bang-bang play at the plate.

Perez came through on the very next pitch, though, dumping the go-ahead double down the right-field line.

“He just swells in those situations,” Royals manager Mike Matheny said. “You need that guy who says, ‘OK, I’m going to take care of this.'"

Kansas City, which was swept in three games at Target Field last week, had lost 12 of its last 14 to the Twins.

The Twins appeared to be continuing their mastery of the Royals this season, too, when they jumped ahead 3-0 in the second on Matt Wallner's run-scoring double and a two-run single by Carlos Correa.

They nearly pushed another run across in the third, too, but Royals starter Zack Greinke struck out Gio Urshela and Cave, ending the threat while picking up his 1,000th strikeout in a Kansas City uniform.

“Just an incredible accomplishment,” Matheny said.

Melendez's two-out homer in the third got Kansas City within 3-2, then Hunter Dozier's shot leading off the fifth tied the game and ended a streak of 115 at-bats without a home run. Witt added a go-ahead RBI single later in the inning.

Cave answered for the Twins off reliever Amir Garrett to tie the game 4-all in the sixth.

Greinke allowed four runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings for Kansas City. Twins counterpart Dylan Bundy allowed four runs on four hits and a walk in 4 2/3 innings.

“Just poor execution with a couple of pitches,” Bundy said. “I've got to work deeper into games and I haven't done that.”

Correa was thrown out at second base in the seventh inning, and the tag hit his lower right leg and left the Twins shortstop laying on the ground. He said afterward that “it just felt numb,” but Correa felt good enough to finish out the game.

Twins RHP Sonny Gray went on the injured list with a strained right hamstring that occurred during a start Sept. 2 against the White Sox. He threw just 44 pitches before a recurrence of the hamstring issues that he had in April.

“I don’t see him pitching if we’re not in it,” Baldelli said, ”but he’s going to stay mentally ready.”

RHP Trevor Megill was reinstated from the COVID-19 list and RHP Dereck Rodriguez was outrighted off the 40-man roster.

Royals RHP Taylor Clarke (oblique strain) threw about 15 pitches in a live session Tuesday. He's scheduled to throw again on Friday in the hopes of rejoining the club before the season ends.

Twins RHP Bailey Ober (1-2, 3.49 ERA) starts Wednesday night against Royals LHP Daniel Lynch (4-11, 5.15).

For the first time in her career, Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer sophomore Aimee Maher was named the KJCCC Division I Player of the Week.

Maher, a third-year player from Ireland, netted her first-career hat trick in the 6-0 home victory last Wednesday over Dodge City. All three goals were scored in a span of 20 minutes in the second half. Maher tallied seven points against Dodge City, which also included as an assist on a goal by Maren Lackey.

In s 3-1 road loss to Johnson County, Maher had the opening goal in the 18th minute off a deep pass from sophomore Ella-Mae Miller that was redirected by sophomore Hadlie Lowe right to Maher.

Maher is the second Blue Dragon to receive Jayhawk Conference weekly recognition. Sophomore Olivia Felix-Cardona was named the Jayhawk and NJCAA goalkeeper of the week on Sept. 6, 2022.

This season, Maher is Hutchinson’s second-leading scorer with 13 points. She has scored five goals and has three assists.

The Blue Dragons start the first of four matches against ranked opponents on the road at 6 p.m. Wednesday at 17th-ranked Cowley and back at home 2 p.m. Saturday against No. 15 Coffeyville.

PUEBLO, Colorado – The NJCAA No. 1-ranked Hutchinson Community College Men’s Golf Team posted their third-straight under-par round and finished second in the season-opening Farmers’ Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational at Walking Stick Golf Club on Tuesday.

Sophomore Dominic Clemons was the only Blue Dragon to place in the Top 10, individually, with a fifth-place performance. Louis Ross, Blake Saffell and Alex Lindstrom all finished inside the Top 25 of the 64-player field.

The Blue Dragons posted a 1-under par 287 in the final round on Tuesday. The Dragons counted scores from freshman Alex Lindstrom (69), Louis Galvin (71), Clemons (73). Saffell and Louis Ross both shot 74s on Tuesday.

Hutchinson tied for the sixth-lowest team round on Tuesday, tying Fort Lewis College and Dallas Baptist.

Tournament host CSU-Pueblo completed its wire-to-wire domination with a 54-hole score of 822, which is 42 strokes under park. CSU-Pueblo shot a 277 on Tuesday.

The Blue Dragons were second at 8-under 855. Colorado Mesa was third at 5-under 859. Dodge City was the only other Jayhawk Conference team in the field of 12 teams. The Conquistadors shot 5-over 293 and finished ninth at 881 (+17).

Clemons carded a 1-over 73 on Tuesday with two birdies and three bogeys. He finished fifth at 7-under 209. This was Clemons’ second career Top 5 finish in a tournament.

Despite a final-round 74 on Tuesday, Ross finished 18th overall in his first collegiate tournament at 217.

With a pair of late birdies, Saffell closed out a tough start to the final round strong and finished with a 74. Saffell tied for 21st at 219.

Lindstrom had a big comeback day on Tuesday. After closing Monday with a 78, Lindstrom rebounded with a team-low 3-under 69. Lindstrom carded five birdies and two bogeys on Tuesday. Lindstrom tied for 24th at 220.

Galvin just missed the Top 25, tying for 26th at 221. After opening with a 79 on Monday, Galvin put together back-to-back 71s.

Blue Dragon individual player Addison Alonzo tied for 44th at 227 after a final-round 77 on Tuesday.

The Blue Dragons will next compete in the NJCAA National Preview next week where most of the NJCAA’s top teams will compete. The National Preview is October 27 and 28 and Sand Creek Station in Newton.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay was suspended by the NFL for four games Monday for violating its personal conduct policy. Gay was arrested in January in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kansas, and charged with misdemeanor criminal property damage of less than $1,000. Gay’s representative, Maxx Lepselter, said at the time that Gay broke a vacuum that belonged to the mother of his son during an argument in which nobody was harmed. Gay agreed to a diversion program in June to resolve the criminal case.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay receiver Mike Evans has been suspended without pay for one game for his role in a scuffle that resulted in him and New Orleans cornerback Marshon Lattimore being ejected from the Buccaneers-Saints game. The NFL said Evans violated unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct rules by knocking Lattimore to the ground when the Buccaneers star intervened in a confrontation that initially involved Lattimore and Bucs teammates Tom Brady and Leonard Fournette. Evans, who can appeal the decision, was suspended for next Sunday’s home game against the Green Bay Packers.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jalen Hurts threw for 333 yards and a touchdown and he ran for 57 yards and two more scores to lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a 24-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Hurts had 301 total yards in the first half in the breakout game of his young career. The Eagles led 24-7 at halftime. Cornerback Darius Slay had two interceptions in the second half. The Eagles improved to 2-0. The Vikings are 1-1. Kirk Cousins and top target Justin Jefferson struggled for Minnesota.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Josh Allen threw four touchdown passes, including three to Stefon Diggs, and the Buffalo Bills rolled past Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans 41-7 in their home opener. The Bills followed a season-opening 31-10 rout of the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams by throttling an opponent that has been their nemesis in each of the past two seasons. Fullback Reggie Gilliam and linebacker Matt Milano, with a 43-yard interception return, also scored touchdowns for Buffalo. Buffalo's defense limited Tennessee to 182 yards of offense and 12 first downs, while registering two sacks and forcing four turnovers. The Titans fell to 0-2 for the first time since 2012.

UAB’s Dewayne McBride had 223 yards and four TDs against Georgia Southern. Minnesota’s Mohammed Ibrahim had 202 yards and three touchdowns against Colorado. Ohio State scored 77 points for the third time since 2016. Georgia has allowed seven points or less in each of its first three games for the first time since 1954.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay was suspended by the NFL for four games Monday for violating its personal conduct policy. Gay was arrested in January in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kansas, and charged with misdemeanor criminal property damage of less than $1,000. Gay’s representative, Maxx Lepselter, said at the time that Gay broke a vacuum that belonged to the mother of his son during an argument in which nobody was harmed. Gay agreed to a diversion program in June to resolve the criminal case.TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay receiver Mike Evans has been suspended without pay for one game for his role in a scuffle that resulted in him and New Orleans cornerback Marshon Lattimore being ejected from the Buccaneers-Saints game. But the Eagles’ high-powered offense was too much for Clifton-Clyde and after being in a game early, leading 20-12 in the second quarter, Axtell exploded with 38 straight points to win 58-12. Class 6A No. 1 Manhattan had its hands full on the road at Class 5A No. 4 Hays, trailing 14-10 at halftime. But the Indians clamped down on Hays in the second half, Indian quarterback Keenan Schartz threw for a career-high 204 yards and Manhattan escaped Hays with a 31-21 win. The biggest showdown for last week’s No. 1s was Eight-Player Division I Hill City taking on Eight-Player Division II No. 3 Thunder Ridge. The ranked powers engaged in a defensive battle for three quarters with Hill City leading 14-6 at halftime and 20-14 at the end of the third. The Ringnecks then erupted for 28 fourth-quarter points to pull away for a 48-22 win. There was limited movement in the rankings below the No. 1s. In Class 6A, 3-0 Gardner-Edgerton moved into the rankings at No. 5 after No. 3 Blue Valley lost to No. 4 Blue Valley Northwest 48-24. 🏈 KSHSAA Football Rankings after week 3

A timely bye week has come and gone for the Hutchinson Community College football team.

Starting the season with three victories, two against nationally ranked opponents, the Blue Dragons remained No. 2 in the latest NJCAA Division I Football Rankings released on Monday.

Hutchinson hits the road for its Jayhawk Conference opener on Saturday, opening the season at Coffeyville. The Blue Dragons and Red Ravens kick off at 7 p.m. Saturday at Coffeyville's Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Coffeyville (2-1 overall, 2-1 Jayhawk Conference is receiving votes in the Week 4 rankings and are too coming off a bye week. The Red Ravens lost to Independence back on Sept. 10 in an 18-5 home loss to the Pirates.

Last season, the Blue Dragons opened the 2021 season at Coffeyville as the preseason No. 1-ranked team and was stunned 17-10 by the eventual regular-season Jayhawk Conference champions. The Blue Dragons were held to their lowest point total of the season and couldn't overtime seven turnovers.

The Blue Dragons lead the conference (overall) in points per game with 47.7 while the Red Ravens are third with 26.7. The Blue Dragons also lead in total yards per game and rushing yards per game. Coffeyville ranks fourth and third in those categories and is second in red zone percentage.

Defending national champion and current No. 1 New Mexico Military Institute (4-0) survived a scare from now-No. 9 Kilgore (2-1) on Saturday following a come-from-behind 31-24 victory, scoring 28 in the second half after being down 14-3 at the break on the road.

Iowa Western, Northwest Mississippi and Jones were teams three through five in the latest rankings. Butler remained at No. 10 with Coffeyville and Independence receiving votes this week.

The Blue Dragons have been ranked in nine-consecutive polls dating back to last season.

The Blue Dragons and Red Ravens kick off at 7 p.m. Saturday at Coffeyville's Veterans Memorial Stadium.Coffeyville (2-1 overall, 2-1 Jayhawk Conference is receiving votes in the Week 4 rankings and are too coming off a bye week. The Red Ravens lost to Independence back on Sept. 10 in an 18-5 home loss to the Pirates.Last season, the Blue Dragons opened the 2021 season at Coffeyville as the preseason No. 1-ranked team and was stunned 17-10 by the eventual regular-season Jayhawk Conference champions. The Blue Dragons were held to their lowest point total of the season and couldn't overtime seven turnovers.The Blue Dragons lead the conference (overall) in points per game with 47.7 while the Red Ravens are third with 26.7. The Blue Dragons also lead in total yards per game and rushing yards per game. Playing just one match last week, the Hutchinson Community College Volleyball team moved up one spot in the national rankings on Monday.

The Blue Dragons moved up to No. 16 in the latest NJCAA Division I National Volleyball Rankings. This is the fourth-straight week the Blue Dragons have been ranked.

Hutchinson’s only action last week was a 3-1 Jayhawk West road victory at Colby last Wednesday. That victory improved the Blue Dragons to 16-5 overall and 4-1 in the Jayhawk Conference.

The Blue Dragons play five matches this week with a home conference match against Garden City at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sports Arena. Hutchinson plays host to the Blue Dragon Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Arena.

Florida Southwestern remains undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the latest rankings. Indian Hills, Scot and Salt Lake remain Nos. 2, 3 and 4. Miami-Dade moves up to No. 5.

Seward County remains the highest-ranked Jayhawk Conference team at No. 12. Hutchinson is the only other KJCCC ranked in the Top 20, but Butler is receiving votes.

This is the fourth-straight week the Blue Dragons have been ranked.Hutchinson’s only action last week was a 3-1 Jayhawk West road victory at Colby last Wednesday. That victory improved the Blue Dragons to 16-5 overall and 4-1 in the Jayhawk Conference.The Blue Dragons play five matches this week with a home conference match against Garden City at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sports Arena. Hutchinson plays host to the Blue Dragon Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Arena.Florida Southwestern remains undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the latest rankings. Indian Hills, Scot and Salt Lake remain Nos. 2, 3 and 4. Miami-Dade moves up to No. 5.Seward County remains the highest-ranked Jayhawk Conference team at No. 12. PUEBLO, Colorado – Sophomore Dominic Clemons fired a pair of 68s and the NJCAA top-ranked Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team posted a pair of under-par rounds on Opening Day of the 2022 Fall season on Monday.

Both Clemons and the Blue Dragons find themselves in second place after two rounds of the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Classic at Walking Stick Golf Course.

The final round of the 54-hole tournament will be Tuesday morning.

The Blue Dragons posted an opening-round of 283 on Monday morning led by Clemons’ 4-under 68 and freshman Louis Ross’ 2-under 70. The Dragons gave a couple of strokes back late in the afternoon round and finished at 3-under 285. Once again Clemons led the way with a 68.

Hutchinson is at 8-under 568 through two rounds. The Blue Dragons trail tournament host CSU-Pueblo, which blitzed its home course with a 31-under 545 after rounds of 272 and 273 on Monday. Colorado Mesa is third at 581 and Fort Lewis College is fourth at 583. Dodge City is sixth at 588.

Clemons started his day off with seven straight pars. He then had an eagle, four birdies and one bogey in his opening-round 68. Clemons had seven birdies and three bogeys in his second round on Monday.

Through 36 holes Clemons is at 8-under 136 and is two strokes off the leading pace of CSU-Pueblo’s Matt Millar, who fired a pair of 67s and is at 10-under 134.

Ross, who started his Blue Dragon career with back-to-back birdies, is tied for 11th with two other golfers at 1-under 143. Ross opened with a 70 and finished Monday with a 73.

Sophomore Blake Saffell had an eagle in his opening-round 72. Saffell finished with a 73 and is tied for 19th at 1-over 145.

Freshman Louis Galvin is tied for 33rd at 150. Galvin opened with a 79, but had an eagle, four birdies and two double bogeys in an afternoon round 71.

Freshman Alex Lindstrom is tied for 39th at 151 after rounds of 73 and 78.

Sophomore Addison Alonzo, who is playing as an individual, had a tough start on Monday with an opening-round 80. Alonzo made a 10-stroke improvement in the afternoon round with a 70. He is tied for 33rd at 150.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay was suspended by the NFL for four games Monday for violating its personal conduct policy.

Gay was arrested in January in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kansas, and charged with misdemeanor criminal property of damage of less than $1,000. Gay's representative, Maxx Lepselter, said at the time that Gay broke a vacuum that belonged to the mother of his son during an argument in which nobody was harmed.

Gay agreed to a diversion program in June to resolve the criminal case.

There was no appeal of the penalty, so Gay will miss Sunday's game in Indianapolis along with games against Tampa Bay, Las Vegas and Buffalo.

NFL rules prohibit him from interacting with the team during the first two weeks.

The Chiefs, who parted with veteran Anthony Hitchens after last season, are counting heavily on Gay to help solidify the linebacker spot alongside second-year pro Nick Bolton. Gay started their first two games against the Cardinals and Chargers and is tied for second on the team in tackles, tackles for loss and passes defended.

“I definitely feel like my role has increased,” Gay acknowledged during training camp. "I feel like me and Nick, we have bigger roles to fill and to lead this defense, to lead this team on the defensive side and just do what we need to do to make sure we’re in position to lead.”

Third-round pick Leo Chenal is the likeliest candidate to replace Gay in the lineup. The Chiefs also have Elijah Lee and Darius Harris, who play primarily special teams, and undrafted rookie Jack Cochrane on the roster.

All 12 Players and Pitchers of the Year will be honored at Kauffman Stadium on Friday, Sept. 23 on Futures Night. Totals listed below for players at Triple-A Omaha are through Sunday’s games, as the Storm Chasers have 10 games remaining on their regular season schedule.

Brewer Hicklen, 26, earned Omaha Player of the Year honors and has posted a .246/.350/.499 slashline (111-for-451, .849 OPS) with 82 runs scored, 24 doubles, 28 home runs, 83 RBI and 34 stolen bases. With two series remaining, Hicklen secured the fourth “20-20-20” season by a Royals minor leaguer since 2005, joining 2021 Omaha Player of the Year Bobby Witt Jr., Alex Gordon (2006) and Alan Moye (2005). After beginning the season with an .822 OPS in April, going 20-for-74 with 8 extra-base hits, the right-handed hitting outfielder knocked a grand slam on May 17 vs. St. Paul and was selected by the Royals just 9 days later as a replacement player, making his Major League debut on May 26 at Target Field against the Twins. 

Through play this past weekend, Hicklen ranks among Triple-A leaders in home runs (28, T-4th), extra-base hits (55, 6th), stolen bases (34, T-7th) and total bases (225, 10th). Andrés Núñez, who will celebrate his 27th birthday tomorrow, was crowned the Omaha Pitcher of the Year and has pitched to a 3.41 ERA (23 ER in 60.2 IP) with 69 strikeouts to just 14 walks in 52 relief appearances for the Storm Chasers, going 5-3 with a team-high-tying 7 saves. Núñez began the season by posting a 1.35 ERA (1 ER in 6.2 IP) over five outings in April, including wins in each of his last two outings on April 17 and 22. Following a tough May, he responded with a perfect June, in which he went 1-0 and didn’t allow a run over 11.1 innings, striking out 12 batters while not issuing a walk. The right hander continued his hot streak through July, as he pitched 10.2 innings of 1-run ball with 18 strikeouts and just 3 walks, combining for a 0.41 ERA (1 ER in 22.0 IP) over two months for the Chasers. With two series left to play, he has gone 7-for-7 in save opportunities in September since picking up his first Triple-A save on Sept. 2 at St. Paul. After going 1-1 with a 3.32 ERA (7 ER in 19.0 IP) in April, the left hander hit his stride in May as he took home back-to-back Texas League Player of the Week awards from May 2-8 and 9-15, and finished with the Player of the Month title, going 3-1 with a 0.59 ERA (2 ER in 30.2 IP) with 29 strikeouts, 4 walks and a .144 (15-for-104) opponents’ batting average. After going 1-1 with a 3.32 ERA (7 ER in 19.0 IP) in April, the left hander hit his stride in May as he took home back-to-back Texas League Player of the Week awards from May 2-8 and 9-15, and finished with the Player of the Month title, going 3-1 with a 0.59 ERA (2 ER in 30.2 IP) with 29 strikeouts, 4 walks and a .144 (15-for-104) opponents’ batting average. He made one final start in Northwest Arkansas on June 1 before being promoted to Triple-A Omaha, where he will finish the campaign. A graduate of Rockledge High School (Fla.), Parrish was selected by the Royals out of Florida State University in the eighth round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft by scout Jim Buckley.

Rafael Devers had four hits and three RBI, and the Boston Red Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 13-3 on Sunday.

Tommy Pham added three hits and three RBI, and Kiké Hernández scored four times. Last-place Boston had dropped three of four and seven of 10 overall.

Xander Bogaerts, who can opt out of his contract with the Red Sox at the end of the season, added two hits with an RBI double, raising his average to .316. His double moved him into a tie with Dom DiMaggio (308) for ninth on Boston’s career list.

Bogaerts, who turns 30 on Oct. 1, also got his 1,400th hit, making him the fourth player with Boston to reach that total before turning 30.

He joined Hall of Famers Carl Yastrzemski, Bobby Doerr and Jim Rice.

Salvador Perez hit a solo homer for Kansas City. Vinnie Pasquantino and Drew Waters each had an RBI double.

Making a 30th start for the second straight year, Boston’s Nick Pivetta (10-11) gave up three runs in five innings.

St. Louis had a three-game winning streak snapped. Fairchild hit a two-run homer in the sixth off Jordan Montgomery. Spencer Steer had a run-scoring hit for the Reds, who had lost nine of their previous 10 games.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Aaron Judge hit his 58th and 59th home runs of the season to move within two of Roger Maris’ American League record with 16 games remaining and lead the New York Yankees over the Milwaukee Brewers 12-8. Judge added a two-run double in the ninth as part of a four-hit day for New York, which hit five homers and avoided a three-game sweep. The Yankees opened a 5 1/2-game lead over second-place Toronto in the AL East. Judge’s 11th multihomer game tied the season record set by Detroit’s Hank Greenberg 1938 and matched by the Chicago Cubs’ Sammy Sosa in 1998.

The Broncos (1-1) were flagged 13 times for 100 yards, giving them 25 penalties on the year, their most ever in back-to-back games. But they pulled it out on defense, holding Houston (0-1-1) to a trio of field goals by Ka’imi Fairbairn.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Tua Tagovailoa threw for 469 yards and six touchdowns, four of which came during a spectacular fourth quarter as the Miami Dolphins rallied from a 21-point deficit to beat the Baltimore Ravens 42-38. Tagovailoa’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Waddle with 14 seconds left completed the incredible comeback after Miami trailed 35-14 with under 13 minutes remaining. Tyreek Hill had touchdown catches of 48 and 60 yards during that rally, the latter of which tied the game with 5:19 to play. Justin Tucker kicked a 51-yard field goal with 2:18 remaining to put Baltimore ahead, but that was far too much time for Miami’s offense, which the Ravens didn’t come close to stopping in the final quarter.

The Dolphins and Cardinals made history by overcoming 20-point halftime deficits to win on the same day while the Jets rallied from a 13-point deficit in the final two minutes. Two other teams almost joined the club. The Falcons fought back from a 28-3 third-quarter deficit - that score sounds familiar in Atlanta - only to fall short against the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams. Joe Burrow helped the Cincinnati Bengals erase a 17-3 halftime deficit in Dallas but Brett Maher kicked a 50-yard field goal as time expired to give the Cowboys a 20-17 win.

(AP) — Texas Tech linebacker Bryce Ramirez is still hospitalized after suffering a gruesome leg injury in the Red Raiders’ loss at 12th-ranked North Carolina State. Sports medicine staff from Texas Tech were with Ramirez at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The fourth-year junior fractured his lower left leg on Saturday. His leg bent below the knee when the pile rolled on him after a tackle, and was twisted abnormally as he laid on the grass.
