WICHITA –&nbsp;Wichita
State's offensive slump led to its worst loss of the season, falling 64-36 to
Southeastern Louisiana Tuesday evening in Charles Koch Arena.


"They're a tough team," head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/terry-nooner/1136">Terry Nooner</a>&nbsp;said. "We just hope that we can try to
build off this and learn the tough lessons of what we need to do when we're in
tough matchups like that."

The Shockers (3-4) shot just 12-for-55 (.218) from
the field and 1-for-18 (.056) from three in their first home loss of the
season, while the Lions (4-3) went 27-for-53 (.509) from the field and 5-for-10
(.500) from behind the arc.

end the half with a 26-18 lead.

"We started off well in the first quarter and
the first half of the second quarter," Nooner said. "I felt like we
played with some tenacity and toughness. We didn't have a good offensive night
even in those quarters but in those quarters, we still played tough."


Rebounding and free throws continued to be an
issue for the Shockers as the Lions won the rebound battle 39-33 and Wichita
State shot just 57.9% from the charity stripe.


The Shockers only committed nine turnovers, but
could not get shots to drop, going 5-for-30 in the second half.


The Lions outscored Wichita State by 20 points in
the second half, shooting 66.7% from three and 57.7% from the field.


"They made some tough shots early on us and
at some point, we just started struggling offensively, and it bled into the way
we played defense," Nooner said.

The
Shockers only tallied five assists, their lowest total of the season.

INDIANAPOLIS –&nbsp;Kansas guard Kevin McCullar Jr. has been named one of five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) for games of the week ending Sunday, Nov. 26, the USBWA announced today.

For the 2023-24 season, the USBWA has expanded its national player of the week program that has been affiliated with the Oscar Robertson Trophy since the 2009-10 season. Kansas’ Frank Mason III was the 2017 Oscar Robertson Trophy recipient. In past seasons, the USBWA has recognized just one player each week. Here are the five honored players for the week ending Nov. 26:

The graduate senior from San Antonio, Texas, recorded his second straight triple-double (22 pts, 11 reb, 10 ast) in the game against Chaminade to become the first ever Big 12 player and the seventh overall in NCAA history to accomplish the feat. During the Jayhawks’ loss to then-No. 4 Marquette, McCullar shot 64.3% (9-14) from the field for 24 points before he closed the week with 14 points and a team high-tying eight rebounds in the win against then-No. 7 Tennessee.

This marks the second-straight week a Kansas player has earned one of the Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week honors as senior Hunter Dickinson was named last week (Nov. 21).

Foster earns her third career all-conference honor following a Second Team selection in 2021 and a First Team spot in 2022. The talented middle leads all qualified players in the American Athletic Conference and ranks 17th&nbsp;nationally with a .404 hitting percentage in the regular season, becoming the first Wichita State player to hit .400 since Abbie Lehman in 2017. Foster paces the Shockers in points per set (3.42) and is second in both kills per set (2.81) and blocks per set (0.95), establishing a new career high with 106.0 total rejections.

The native of Mattawan, Michigan produced several dominant performances to help power Wichita State to its current 21-8 record. She did not commit an attack error three times over the course of a match (Illinois State, Tulane, UTSA), including a new career-best .800 hitting percentage in the UTSA contest when she scored 12 times on 15 attempts. Foster delivered a season-high 17 kills in the second meeting against Rice on November 18 and notched at least six kills in every match this season. For her career, Foster owns 50 matches with double-digit kills and a combined hitting percentage of .371.

Rohling produced the best season of her five-year Wichita State career, crafting new personal bests in almost every meaningful offensive category to earn her third All-Conference honor (2021 Spring First Team, 2022 Second Team). The native of Thayer, Kansas breached the 300-kill mark with 309 terminations, averaging 3.00 kills per set and 3.37 points per set. Since the start of conference play, Rohling has elevated her game to the next level, hitting .302 while leading the Shockers with 498 attempts. She had double-digit kills in 13 of 19 conference matches, including a season-best 19 on the road at Tulane and 18 in a home win over North Texas.

Arguably the best outing of her season came in Wichita State's stunning win over eventual conference champion SMU, when Rohling hit .500 against the Mustangs with 14 kills and just one error in 26 swings. Rohling also upped her game defensively with the opportunity to play back row, setting a new career high in digs that included her first career double-double in a win over Rice on November 17. The 6'3 lefty added 59.0 total blocks for a combined sum of 347.0 points. Both Rohling and Foster reached the 1,000 career kill mark in 2023, joining&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster/brylee-kelly/7486">Brylee Kelly</a>&nbsp;to give Wichita State the nation's only trio of players with 1,000 career kills on the same roster.

Stout compiled a breakout 2023 season, registering the first postseason All-Conference nod of her career. The redshirt junior raised her hitting percentage a staggering 155 points from 2022, vaulting near the top of the conference leaderboard with a .333 mark despite an increase of more than 250 attempts compared to a year ago. Stout authored a handful of superlative performances, including a 17-kill, 20-point match in a road win at Memphis, 13 kills, nine digs and four blocks in a win at Rice and 15 kills on the road at Texas Tech. Her 2.35 kills per set and 2.96 points per set rank third on the team, while she once again leads the Shockers in blocks with 110.0 total rejections and 1.00 per set.

Stout was a consistent force in conference play, culminating in an AAC Offensive Player of the Week honor after hitting .524 with 13 kills in a home win over UAB. All told, Stout hit .350 in conference matches and had double-digit kills seven times. For her career, the native of Fowler, Kansas has produced 691.0 total points after setting new career best in kills, aces, digs and blocks in 2023.

Strand stepped right into the Shocker lineup in her first season with the program and quickly established herself as one of the conference's top setters. As the lone setter in Wichita State's 5-1 offense, the UC San Diego transfer totaled 1,161 assists, a figure that leads the conference and ranks 31st&nbsp;nationally. Her 10.37 assists per set are second on the circuit and 37th&nbsp;nationally while her .399 set percentage ranks third. Strand established a new career high with 60 assists in a road win at Tulane on October 13 and recorded at least 50 helpers on three other occasions. When calling her own number, Strand racked up 88 kills at a .211 clip, highlighted by eight terminations in the season opener against Notre Dame.

The native of Carlsbad, California became a reliable cog in the Shockers excellent defensive unit, contributing 2.41 digs per set and 0.36 blocks per set. MANHATTAN, Kan. –&nbsp;K-State's&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster/aliyah-carter/11044">Aliyah Carter</a>&nbsp;became the first player in K-State volleyball history to earn three unanimous First Team All-Big 12 honors as the senior headlined a group of four Wildcats that earned all-conference honors, the league office revealed Tuesday.&nbsp;

In addition to Carter, graduate&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster/sydney-bolding/11043">Sydney Bolding</a>&nbsp;and senior&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster/mackenzie-morris/11049">Mackenzie Morris</a>&nbsp;were selected to the second team while&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster/aniya-clinton/11045">Aniya Clinton</a>&nbsp;was named to the All-Big 12 Rookie Team. The all-conference honor is Bolding's second consecutive postseason accolade while Morris and Clinton earn the first of their respective careers.

K-State was one of just four schools from the Big 12 to have at least four players selected All-Big 12, alongside BYU, Baylor, and Kansas. The awards were selected by the league's head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their institution. A full list of the 2023 award winners and all-conference teams can be found below.

Carter, a native of Dubuque, Iowa, earned her third unanimous first-team honor after leading K-State with 390 kills and 4.06 kills per set during the regular season. She finished fifth in the Big 12 and 37th&nbsp;in the country in kills per set while her 4.43 kills a set during conference play ranked third in the league.

Her career average of 3.79 kills per set leads the program during the rally-scoring era (since 2001) and is third all-time in school history behind only Liz Wegner (1998-2001) and Dawn Cady (1996-1999).Carter, who owns a program record of nine career conference weekly awards (five rookie, four offensive), carded five matches with 20 or more kills this season, including a season-high 24 at KU on November 3. Her 18 career 20-kill performances rank first in program history (rally-scoring).Bolding, a native of Pickens, S.C., led the Big 12 in the regular season statistics with 134 total blocks while her 1.40 block average was good for second, finishing 35th&nbsp;and 12th&nbsp;in the nation in both categories.

Offensively, Bolding was third on the team with 157 kills and second with 28 service aces. The 6-foot-5 middle blocker also earned a place on the 2023 Lippy Invitational and Rose City Showdown All-Tournament Teams.

Bolding's 1.30 career block average ranks second in program history during the rally-scoring era while her 354.0 total career blocks rank seventh.

Morris played in all 27 matches on the court and was one of three players to see time in all 97 sets this season. She led the league in digs per set (4.82) and total digs (468), finishing 33rd&nbsp;and 35th&nbsp;nationally, while she also finished with a career-best 107 assists.

She collected double-digit digs in all but two of matches this season, reaching a season-best 34 on November 3 against KU. The Cats' starting libero added 22 total aces, collecting a season-best three against Texas Tech (Nov. 18) to reach her 100th&nbsp;career ace.

The Dallas, Texas product reached career dig No. 1,700 in her 104th&nbsp;match in a Wildcat uniform, becoming just the third player in program history to reach the milestone. &nbsp;Morris' 1,733 career digs rank third all-time as she is one of five active players from the Big 12 to surpass 1,700.Clinton was selected to the All-Rookie Team following a freshman campaign in which she turned in 261 kills with a team second-best 2.84 kills average. She recorded a career-high 17 kills on September 23 in a five-set victory over TCU.

Additionally, the Midland, Texas native registered 53 digs and 58 total blocks, including eight solo stops. Three times this season Clinton led the Wildcats in kills, and recorded double-figure kills in seven of the Wildcats' last nine outings.

Clinton received her first Big 12 accolade on October 31, after helping the Cats to back-to-back sweeps over then-No. 8 BYU where she registered an unbelievable .684 attack percentage (13 kills, 19 attempts) without committing a single error.

K-State (16-11, 10-8 Big 12) tied sixth in the Big 12 standings alongside Baylor (16-12, 10-8 Big 12), under first-year head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster/coaches/jason-mansfield/1963">Jason Mansfield</a>. 🏐 K-State places 4 on all-conference team

LAWRENCE, Kan.&nbsp;– The Kansas Volleyball team earned seven Big 12 postseason awards, the league announced Tuesday, highlighted by Coach Ray Bechard’s fifth Big 12 Coach of the Year honor and Topeka native Camryn Turner being named Big 12 Setter of the Year.

Turner was also named First Team All-Big 12, along with junior Ayah Elnady and graduate Reagan Cooper, while junior London Davis received Second Team All-Big 12 honors. Freshman Raegan Burns was named to the Big 12 All-Rookie Team.

“We’re excited about all of the postseason awards,” said Bechard. “I think that’s just a reflection of Roster 19 and this group, how hard they’ve collectively worked and the result of a great, great season. There have been great individual and team performances within that.”

Bechard led the Jayhawks to a 23-5 regular season record, including a 14-4 conference clip, which put Kansas in second place in the Big 12. Kansas recorded four ranked wins during this time, with two over then-No. 20 Houston, one over then-No. 23 Baylor and then-No. 13 BYU on the road, being the only team to win in Provo this year. The 14 wins are the most in conference play since 2016 when Kansas had 15 conference wins and won its first-ever Big 12 title.

Kansas also qualified for its 12th NCAA Tournament in program history and will be making its third consecutive appearance. All 12 appearances have been under Coach Bechard, with the first coming in 2003. The three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament are tied for the second most in program history (2003-05). Kansas went to six consecutive NCAA Tournaments from 2012-17.

Under Bechard, KU currently boasts a 14-match winning streak at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena, where the first and second rounds of this year’s NCAA Tournament will be played. That is the sixth longest active home winning streak in Division I. The 14 home victories are the most since the 2015 season when KU had 15 home wins.

The last time Bechard won this award was back in 2016. Prior to that, he won it in 2012, 2013 and 2015.

Turner finished atop the conference leaderboard with an average of 10.71 assists per set. She is the first Jayhawk to win Setter of the Year since Ainise Havili won the award three times in a row from 2015-17. Kansas’ Erin McNorton also received the honor in 2013. The Big 12 Setter of the Year has been a Kansas player in five of the 12 years the award has been presented.

Turner was selected as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week once during the regular season, along with being the lone Jayhawk on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. She helped KU finish first in the league with 13.03 assists per set and 14.02 kills per set.

The junior also posted the second-best digs per set average for the Jayhawks behind primary libero Raegan Burns with her 3.02 average across all 103 sets she appeared in. Turner had the second-most service aces in the regular season with 20 total, behind fellow first-teamer Elnady, who led with 26. This is the first time in Turner’s career that she has been named First Team All-Big 12.

Elnady was a force for the Jayhawks all throughout the regular season, posting 3.57 kills per set across the 99 total sets that she appeared in. On 20 different occasions, Elnady recorded double-digit kills, including a season-high of 25 total in Kansas’ five-set victory at Iowa State. In her last time out, Elnady was just one kill shy of her season high with 24 in the Jayhawks’ four-set victory over UCF.

The junior also led the Jayhawks in aces per set with her 0.26 average, posted the second-most points per set with 4.05 and averaged the fifth most digs per set with 2.26. This is the first time in Elnady’s career that she has been named First Team All-Big 12, as her and Turner were both second-team selections last season.

Cooper was a unanimous first team selection with the standout season she had as a first-year Jayhawk, having previously played for conference-foe Texas Tech. The graduate transfer ended the regular season with a team-leading 3.76 kills per set and 4.07 points per set averages, which landed her in seventh and 10th place in the Big 12 standings, respectively. Her hitting percentage of .339 was good for eighth in the Big 12 standings as well.

The Rowlett, Texas, native was named the AVCA Division I National Player of the Week as well as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week just one week ago on November 21 after her massive role in Kansas’ back-to-back ranked wins over Baylor (17 kills, .516 %, 18.5 points) and BYU (season-high 25 kills, .429 %, 26.5 points). Cooper hit above .400 in 10 different matches during the regular season, and .500 or better on four separate occasions as well, with her season-high of .600 on 15 total kills coming in the Jayhawks’ four-set victory over then-No. 20 Houston. This is the first time in Cooper’s career that she has been recognized with a postseason honor by the Big 12.

Davis earned her spot on second team after an outstanding regular season, wrapping up with a .294 hitting percentage, 2.77 kills per set-average and a new-career best of 28 kills against K-State, which made her the first Jayhawk since 2009 to achieve that many kills in a single match. The junior out of Galena, Ohio, had 13 double-digit kill performances throughout the regular season.

With an average of 0.71 blocks per set, Davis posted the fourth-best number on the team, recording a total of 73 blocks during regular-season play. She recorded a season-high seven blocks against Texas Tech in the same match that she also posted a season-high number of digs with nine total. This is Davis’ first postseason Big 12 award in her career.

Burns, who was the two-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week this season, was the lone Jayhawk represented on the Big 12 All-Rookie team after her strong regular season in the libero jersey. The true freshman was the team’s primary defensive specialist, averaging the most digs per set with 3.56, which puts her at 10th in the Big 12. Burns also racked up 12 service aces and three-consecutive libero kills, all three of which happened against ranked teams (Houston, Houston, Texas).

<a>MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;–</a>&nbsp;Kansas State senior left guard&nbsp;Cooper Beebe, one of the top offensive linemen in all of college football, has been named one of three finalists for the 2023 Outland Trophy, the Football Writers Association of America announced Tuesday.

Beebe is the first ever Wildcat finalist for the Outland Trophy – presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding interior lineman – and the first finalist for one of the 20 on-field National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA) honors since then-quarterback and current offensive coordinator&nbsp;Collin Klein&nbsp;was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award and Davey O’Brien Award in 2012.

A product of Kansas City, Kansas, Beebe is joined on the finalist list by Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt and Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat. The recipient of the 2023 Outland Trophy will be announced on&nbsp;The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN on Friday, December 8 at 6 p.m. The official presentation to the winner will be made at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner sponsored by Werner Enterprises and produced by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee in Omaha, Nebraska, on January 10, 2024.

Beebe finished out the regular season helping the Wildcats rank 12th&nbsp;nationally and sixth in school history by scoring 37.7 points per game, while their 446.1 total yards per game ranks 23rd&nbsp;in the nation and second in school history. A veteran offensive line unit led by Beebe also helped K-State rank 14th&nbsp;nationally with 199.7 rushing yards per game, while its 4.86 rushing yards per carry ranks seventh in school history.

A career 47-game starter to rank fifth among Wildcat offensive linemen since 1990, Beebe has allowed just one sack among his 1,224 pass blocking snaps since the beginning of his sophomore season in 2021. He has started every game this season at left guard, seeing time at 759 snaps while also filling in at right tackle (106 snaps) and left tackle (20 snaps).

In addition to being a finalist for the Outland Trophy, Beebe is also one of 16 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, often referred to as the “Academic Heisman.” He was also a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award.

Kansas State finished the regular season with an 8-4 overall record and a 6-3 mark in Big 12 play to tie for fourth in the league. The Wildcats will learn of their bowl destination on Sunday.

He currently is No. 3 on the all-time wins list in program history behind Charles Sesher (115-58-14) and Rion Rhoades (99-50). He is No. 2 on the all-time games coached list at 152, 35 behind Sesher for No. 1.

The former coach not only excelled in Blue Dragon history, but also in the Jayhawk Conference. He is No. 6 in all-time coaching victories in conference history. He won Jayhawk Conference titles in 1969 and 1974.

Matous was inducted into the Blue Dragon Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

🏈 Former HutchCC football coach Matous dies at 91

Hutchinson Community College football now has two former assistant coaches who are now head coaches in the National Football League.&nbsp;

After the Carolina Panthers fired Frank Reich on Monday after a 1-11 start to the season, they named Chris Tabor as the interim head coach. Tabor was in his second season as the Panthers’ Special Teams Coordinator.&nbsp;

Tabor was the running backs coach for the Blue Dragons in 1994 under head coach Andy Hill.&nbsp;

Tabor joins Brandon Staley as former Blue Dragon assistants who are now head coaches in the NFL. Staley is in his third season as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers. Staley, a Blue Dragon linebacker coach under Rion Rhodes in 2010 and 2011.&nbsp;

Three other former Blue Dragon assistant or head coaches are currently on NFL staffs as assistants – Phil Serchia (Los Angeles Chargers); Andy Hill (Kansas City Chiefs); and Brian Natkin (Arizona Cardinals).&nbsp;

The 1994 Blue Dragons went 8-4 and finished second in the Jayhawk Conference. The Blue Dragons advanced to the KJCCC Playoff championship game for the first time. The season culminated with a 41-37 loss to Mesa Community College in the Valley of the Sun Bowl in Mesa, Arizona.&nbsp;

Since his one season at Hutchinson, Tabor has worked his way up the coaching ladder:&nbsp; + 1995-96 – Offensive Coordinator at Central Methodist University;&nbsp; + 1997-99 – Offensive graduate assistant at the University of Missouri;&nbsp; + 2000 – Running Backs and Special Teams coach at Missouri;&nbsp; + 2001 – Head Coach at Culver-Stockton University;&nbsp; + 2002-04 – Assistant head coach, Wide Receivers coach at Utah State University;&nbsp; + 2005 – Running Backs coach and Special Teams coach at Utah State;&nbsp; + 2006-07 – Running Backs coach and Special Teams coach at Western Michigan University;&nbsp; + 2008-10 – Assistant Special Teams coach with the Chicago Bears;&nbsp; + 2011-17 – Special Teams Coordinator with the Cleveland Browns;&nbsp; + 2018-21 – Special Teams Coordinator with the Chicago Bears;&nbsp; + 2022 – Special Teams Coordinator with the Carolina Panthers;&nbsp; + 2023 – Special Teams Coordinator, Interim head coach with the Carolina Panthers.&nbsp;

In 2020 while with the Bears, Tabor mentored former Blue Dragon All-American Cordarrelle Patterson. All Patterson did in 2020 was lead all NFC kick returners for the second-straight season in both kick return average (29.1) and kick return yards (1,017). Patterson made NFL history in Week 10 by returning a kickoff 104 yards for a touchdown, a Bears record. It was his eighth career kickoff return for a touchdown, tying an NFL record.&nbsp;

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;— Kansas State University starting quarterback Will Howard has decided to enter the transfer portal, the senior announced on Monday.

Howard will leave Manhattan as one of three quarterbacks to ever guide the Wildcats to a Big 12 championship, and as the all-time passing touchdown leader in program history. He finished this season 219-for-357 passing for 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns to 10 interceptions.

Howard was not the only Wildcat to enter the transfer portal on Monday, highly-recruited backup quarterback Jake Rubley also announced he will depart Kansas State. Rubley saw limited playing time in just two games, completing the only pass he threw for five yards.

Treshaun Ward, a running back who transferred in from Florida State also announced his plan to leave the K-State program on Monday. He rushed for 643 yards on 124 carries in 11 games. Ward finished with five touchdowns, as well.&nbsp;

VERMILLION, S.D.&nbsp;— Former Buhler High School grad, Brendan Webb was named to the first team of the Missouri Valley Football Conference all-conference football team on Monday.

Webb has had a stellar senior year for the Coyotes in Vermillion, South Dakota. He has helped anchor the defensive line and leads the Coyotes with 10.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. South Dakota (9-2, 7-1 MVFC) will host Sacramento State in the first round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday afternoon in Vermillion.

The 6-foot-4 260-pound senior graduated from Buhler in 2018 and helped lead the Crusaders to the 2016 4A state title. Webb was an all-state performer and three-time all-AVCTL selection in football. He also participated in basketball, wrestling and track &amp; field. Webb qualified for state in the triple jump, shot put and 400-meter relay as a senior.

Webbs teammate, Travis Theis, who is a Pratt High School graduate earned second team honors on the MVFC team at the fullback position.&nbsp;

Former Hoisington standout, Wyatt Pedigo, who plays at North Dakota earned second team honors at linebacker.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Joel Embiid had 30 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to help the Philadelphia 76ers rout LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers 138-94 on Monday night. Embiid notched his sixth career triple-double with 2 minutes left in the third quarter. It was Embiid's first of the season and his seventh career game with 10-plus assists. LeBron James scored 18 points but nothing he did could make a dent in the 76ers' lead. The 76ers hit 13 3-pointers in the first half.

Florida coach Billy Napier fires two assistants to begin defensive overhaul, AP source says

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida coach Billy Napier began a much-needed defensive makeover by firing two assistants. A person familiar with the decision tells the AP on condition of anonymity that Napier parted with cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond and defensive line coach Sean Spencer, two days after a season-ending loss to rival and then-No. 5 Florida State. The Gators (5-7) lost five consecutive games to end the season and missed a bowl for just the third time since 1990. Defense was the biggest issue down the stretch, with Florida allowing 41.75 points a game in the first four of those losses.

Panthers fire Frank Reich after 11 games and name Chris Tabor their interim head coach

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Panthers fired coach Frank Reich with the team off to an NFL-worst 1-10 record in his first year in charge. The move came a day after the Panthers lost 17-10 to the Tennessee Titans. Owner David Tepper hired Reich to fix one of the league's worst offenses over the past few seasons and develop Bryce Young, the No. 1 overall draft pick. Instead, they are assured of a sixth straight losing season since Tepper bought the team in 2018. Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will take over as interim head coach. Tabor's first move was to fire quarterbacks coach Josh McCown and running backs coach Duce Staley, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Point differentials could come into play as NBA In-Season Tournament group phase ends Tuesday

MIAMI (AP) — Say this for the NBA. It will have some drama for the final night of group play in the inaugural In-Season Tournament. There are eight games left and all potentially have implications on who will advance. All teams play four games in the group stage. Fourteen teams are already done and the other 16 teams wrap up their group slates on Tuesday. Every group winner will reach the quarterfinals, and the best second-place team from each conference will earn a wild-card spot. There's a really good chance that tiebreakers to separate teams will come into play. The first tiebreaker is head-to-head, and the second is point differential.

Lawson apologizes for shoving Eagles fan, alleging person threatened Bills players and families

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills pass rusher Shaq Lawson has apologized for shoving a Philadelphia Eagles fan after alleging the person was making threatening remarks about players and their families. Lawson posted his apology on his Instagram account a day after a video showed him and five defensive teammates approach a spectator in the first row behind Buffalo's bench during a 37-34 overtime loss at Philadelphia. The video showed Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips walking up and exchanging words with the unidentified spectator, when Lawson followed and shoved the fan. A spokesman for the Eagles said the matter is being reviewed.

Minnesota Wild replace coach Dean Evason with John Hynes after losing 14 of first 19 games

The Minnesota Wild have fired coach Dean Evason and assistant Bob Woods. General manager Bill Guerin announced John Hynes will be the next coach. The Wild have lost 14 of their first 19 games. Evason had the job for nearly five years. He started as a midseason replacement for Bruce Boudreau on Feb. 14, 2020. Evason went 147-77-27 in 251 regular season games and 8-15 in the postseason without winning any series. Hynes is 284-255-63 in eight NHL seasons. The Predators fired him on May 30, six weeks after missing the playoffs.

Cardinals get AL Cy Young runner-up Sonny Gray with $75M deal to anchor revamped starting rotation

The St. Louis Cardinals agreed with AL Cy Young runner-up Sonny Gray on a $75 million, three-year contract to anchor their staff heading into next season. Gray's deal includes a $30 million team option for 2027 with a $5 million buyout, which could make the agreement worth $100 million over four seasons. The 34-year-old Gray went 8-8 with a 2.79 ERA for Minnesota last season. He turned down a qualifying offer from the Twins, and St. Louis will lose its second-highest draft pick next year for signing him. The Cardinals went 71-91 last season.

SEATTLE (AP) — Rome Odunze can see not all is right with the offense for No. 3 Washington. It hasn't looked quite right since Odunze caught the winning touchdown to beat Oregon back in October. The Ducks are the same team the Huskies will see in Friday's Pac-12 championship game. There's no debating that Washington hasn't carved up defenses with the ease it displayed leading up to the 36-33 win over Oregon on Oct. 14. The Huskies know the offense must get better in short order.

Donovan Clingan scores 29 to lead No. 4 UConn over UNH 84-64 for a 24th straight nonconference win

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Donovan Clingan scored a career-high 29 points and No. 4 UConn beat New Hampshire 84-64 on Monday night to set a record with its 24th consecutive victory over a nonconference opponent by double digits. The 7-foot-2 sophomore hit 12 of his 13 shots from the floor for the Huskies (7-0), who broke a record held by North Carolina, which had 23 consecutive double-digit wins over nonconference opponents in 2008 and 2009. The Huskies will take their streak into Lawrence, Kansas on Friday to face the fifth-ranked Jayhawks. Cam Spencer and Tristen Newton each scored 17 points and Newtown also pulled down 10 rebounds for Connecticut.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released its latest basketball rankings on Monday afternoon, and both HutchCC teams moved up in their respective poll.

The Hutchinson women (8-0, 2-0 KJCCC) moved up one spot to No. 14 in the Top 25 poll after going 2-0 since the last poll was released a week ago.&nbsp;

The Blue Dragons defeated NOC-Tonkawa, 80-54 last Tuesday and then beat Colby, 86-46 on Sunday afternoon. Hutchinson will travel to Independence (5-3, 0-3) on Wednesday evening for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against the Pirates.

The Hutchinson men (7-1, 2-0 KJCCC) also moved up a spot to No. 21 in the latest poll. The Blue Dragons were perfect in the last week, as well, going 2-0.

The Blue Dragons beat Labette, 103-54 and Colby, 92-81 in the one-week span since the last poll. Hutchinson will make the trek to Independence on Wednesday to play Independence (1-8, 0-3 KJCCC) at 7:30 p.m.

IRVING, Texas&nbsp;– Kansas graduate senior Kevin McCullar Jr. has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week after averaging 20.0 points and 8.3 rebounds in three games at the 2023 Allstate Maui Invitational, including two contests against top-10 opponents.

In the 83-56 win versus Chaminade (11/20), McCullar posted a 22-point, 11-rebound, 10-assist triple double which also included two blocked shots and three steals. It was McCullar’s second-consecutive triple double, with his last coming against Kentucky on Nov. 14 (12 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists). McCullar is just the seventh player in NCAA history, first in the Big 12, to record back-to-back triple doubles and the first since 2008 (Tony Lee of Robert Morris).

In the 59-73 loss to No. 4 Marquette, McCullar had 24 points on 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) shooting with eight rebounds. In the 69-60 win against No. 7 Tennessee, McCullar had 14 points and six rebounds.

The San Antonio, Texas guard has been named to many preseason watchlists. This marks the first career Big 12 Player of the Week award for McCullar, and fourth individual conference award this season for Kansas.

No. 5 Kansas (5-1) is set for action against Eastern Illinois (3-4) at Allen Fieldhouse Tuesday, Nov. 28. Action is set for 7 p.m. Central and will be televised on Big 12 NOW via ESPN+.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson confronted Eagles fans and appeared to shove one of them during Buffalo's loss on Sunday night. Lawson, defensive tackle Jordan Phillips and other Bills players walked from the sideline toward the front row of stands at Lincoln Financial Field and started jawing at Eagles fans. Phillips got close to the face of one fan before Lawson walked up and seemingly put his hands on the spectator, according to video that circulating on social media. Security eventually intervened and the fan continued to shout toward the Buffalo players as they walked away.

Zay Flowers catches and runs for TDs, Ravens force 4 turnovers in 20-10 win over Chargers

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Rookie Zay Flowers had a touchdown catch and ran for a game-sealing score late in the fourth quarter, Baltimore forced four turnovers, and the AFC-best Ravens beat the Los Angeles Chargers 20-10. Lamar Jackson threw for 177 yards and ran for 39 on 11 carries, becoming the fourth quarterback in NFL history to exceed 5,000 rushing yards. Baltimore is 9-3 and heads into its bye week one-half game ahead of Kansas City, Jacksonville and Miami for the best record in the conference. Texas A&amp;M has hired Duke coach Mike Elko, replacing Jimbo Fisher with his former defensive coordinator for four years in College Station. A person with direct knowledge of the decision told the AP on condition of anonymity that a deal was in place and Elko was on his way from Durham, North Carolina, to College Station, Texas, late Sunday night. Elko left the Aggies for his first head coaching job at Duke after the 2021 season and went 15-8 in two seasons. Texas A&amp;M fired Fisher earlier this month, paying a record buyout of more than $75 million.
