The 48-year-old Woods, who is still dealing with the effects of numerous surgeries that have impacted his body and limited his playing time on the PGA Tour, received a huge ovation after he pitched onto the green on No. 18 and made par while wearing his traditional Sunday red. Woods went 82-77 on the weekend. Despite the score, Woods called it a "good week" and said he plans to begin preparing for the other three majors including the PGA Championship in May, the U.S. Open in June and the British Open in July.

Amen Corner proves pivotal as Scottie Scheffler's closest pursuers falter in final round of Masters

NEW YORK (AP) — Caitlin Clark made a surprise appearance on "Saturday Night Live" during the show's "Weekend Update" segment. The Iowa star is in New York for the WNBA draft on Monday night, where she's the likely top pick by the Indiana Fever. The NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer showed up after anchor Michael Che made a joke about Iowa retiring Clark's jersey. Che read some more jokes that Clark said she wrote that made fun of the comedian. Clark then delivered a heartfelt message about her basketball future while thanking all the great players who came before her.

Danielle Serdachny scores OT goal to lift Canada to 6-5 win over US in women's hockey world final

UTICA, N.Y. (AP) — Danielle Serdachny converted a rebound in front 5:16 into overtime for a power-play goal and Canada beat the United States 6-5 in a breathtaking women's world hockey championship gold medal game. Canada won its tournament-leading 13ths gold medal and did so on U.S. soil in central New York, a year after the Americans won their 10th tournament outside of Toronto. Canadian captain Marie-Philip Poulin scored twice, Julia Gosling also scored, while Erin Ambrose and Emily Clark had shots bank into the net off U.S. defenseman Caroline Harvey. Harvey and Laila Edwards had a goal and assist for the Americans who finished the tournament 6-1.

Chase Elliott ends 42-race winless streak with overtime victory in NASCAR Cup race at Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Chase Elliott pulled ahead and cleared Ross Chastain on the first lap after the second restart in overtime at Texas Motor Speedway, ending a 42-race winless streak for NASCAR's most popular driver. The race ended on the 16th caution after Elliott had taken the white flag for the 276th lap in a race scheduled for 267 laps. The chasing Chastain was bumped from behind by defending race winner William Byron, who finished third. Brad Keselowski was second. It was the fifth win this season for Hendrick Motorsports, the 306th for NASCAR's winningest team. It was the first for Elliott in the No. 9 since Talladega in October 2022.

Carson McCusker&nbsp;left the yard for his first home run of the year in the top of the second. The two-run shot went the opposite way to give Wichita a 1-0 lead, marking the fifth straight contest in which the Wind Surge was the first team to score.&nbsp;Alerick Soularie&nbsp;also pushed a ball deep enough to center field to score&nbsp;Noah Cardenas&nbsp;on a sacrifice fly in the frame to double the Wichita advantage.

Jefferson Morales’ first home run of 2024 was a little more grand two innings later. The left fielder emptied the bases after scorching a blast to left field toward his teammates in the bullpen.

Smacking baseballs high and far wasn’t the only way the Wind Surge scored today.&nbsp;Kyler Fedko&nbsp;grounded one through the hole into left field in the top of the fifth inning for a 7-1 Wind Surge lead.

⚾ Wind Surge drop 7th straight

&nbsp; NORMAN, Okla.&nbsp;— K-State erased a six-run deficit and evened the score seven, but Scott Mudler's go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the ninth gave Oklahoma an 8-7 walk-off victory over the Wildcats Sunday afternoon to complete the series sweep at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

K-State (21-13, 7-8 Big 12) crawled out of an early 6-0 hole and battled to tie the game at six until OU (21-14, 11-4 Big 12) took back the lead in the eighth.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/chuck-ingram/11526">Chuck Ingram</a>&nbsp;launched a game-tying home run to keep the Cats in the game until a double to right and Mudler's single scored the game-deciding run.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; "Those are the gut-wrenching losses," said head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/coaches/pete-hughes/2461">Pete Hughes</a>. "Those are the ones that sting. Our kids fought so hard to get back from a six-run deficit, and then hit a big homerun to tie it back up for a second time. It just felt like it was going to be a win."

The Cats out-hit OU by a 12-9 count and stranded five baserunners in the game compared to the Sooners' seven left on base.

&nbsp; "<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/jj-slack/11536">JJ Slack</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/tyson-neighbors/11470">Tyson Neighbors</a>&nbsp;were outstanding out of our bullpen. They gave us a chance to work our way back in it," Hughes commented."We need to play better, and we will."

&nbsp; Slack turned in three scoreless innings in relief of starter&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/blake-dean/11520">Blake Dean</a>. The lefty from Liberty, Texas retired nine of 11 batters he faced and left the Sooners without a hit with three strikeouts.

&nbsp; Neighbors (1-1) was tagged for the loss allowing the walk-off single. The junior reliever went three innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

&nbsp; OU utilized three pitchers in the final inning with Ryan Lambert (3-0) picking up the win after recording the final out.

&nbsp; Ingram, who went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, produced his 15th&nbsp;multi-hit game at K-State with his eighth homer of the season.

K-State got a pair of two-out RBI from&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/brady-day/11461">Brady Day</a>, while&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/raphael-pelletier/11471">Raphael Pelletier</a>&nbsp;launched his 17th&nbsp;career homer to open the Cats four-run fifth inning. The duo each went 1-for-4, while&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/kaelen-culpepper/11460">Kaelen Culpepper</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/cayden-phillips/11472">Cayden Phillips</a>&nbsp;each had two-hit days.&nbsp;&nbsp;

For the second time of the series, OU blew it open with a 6-0 lead, highlighted by a pair of homers by Jaxon Willits.

&nbsp; K-State's best look to jump on the board early came with a double down the left field line by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/nick-english/11522">Nick English</a>&nbsp;for a chance to score Culpepper, who singled to lead off the inning, but was called out at home on the relay throw.

Slack entered the game for Dean in the third with a runner on first and two outs. The graduate walked the first batter he faced before retiring seven consecutive Sooners to keep the Wildcats in the game.

&nbsp; The Wildcats rallied for four runs in the fifth to end the drought as Phillips singled up the middle to start off the inning before scoring on&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/raphael-pelletier/11471">Raphael Pelletier's</a>&nbsp;blast to right. The Wildcats' catcher launched his seventh homer of the season and the first homer of the series for K-State.

Day cut the Sooners' lead to two with his two-out, two-run double into no man's land in left field.

Down 6-4, Neighbors relieved Slack in the sixth and inherited a runner on first with two outs before fanning the final batter on a called strike.

&nbsp; K-State strung together three consecutive hits from&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/david-bishop/11518">David Bishop</a>, Ingram, and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/brendan-jones/11466">Brendan Jones</a>&nbsp;to make it a one-run ballgame before an RBI grounder to short leveled the score at 6-all.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

OU capitalized on fielding error to regain the lead in the eighth but was answered with Ingram's solo blast to tie the score, 7-7.

With one out, Anthony Mackenzie and Mudler each hit into right to capture the win and complete the sweep.

Dale Mitchell Park.K-State (21-13, 7-8 Big 12) crawled out of an early 6-0 hole and battled to tie the game at six until OU (21-14, 11-4 Big 12) took back the lead in the eighth.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/chuck-ingram/11526">Chuck Ingram</a>&nbsp;launched a game-tying home run to keep the Cats in the game until a double to right and Mudler's single scored the game-deciding run.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Those are the gut-wrenching losses," said head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/coaches/pete-hughes/2461">Pete Hughes</a>. "Those are the ones that sting. Our kids fought so hard to get back from a six-run deficit, and then hit a big homerun to tie it back up for a second time. ⚾ Sooners walk off Cats Sunday

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Scottie Scheffler spent more time looking at his feet than any of the white leaderboards at Augusta National, all of them showing what everyone was watching — a Masters champion again, the undisputed best player in golf.

He prefers to stay in his own little world, population one.

Nobody is close to him in the game at the moment.

Scheffler is&nbsp;<a href="https://www.owgr.com/current-world-ranking" target="_blank">No. 1 in the world</a>&nbsp;by a margin not seen since Tiger Woods in his prime. In nine tournaments this year, he doesn’t have a round over par and has earned over $15 million. And on Sunday, he delivered the greatest piece of evidence when he slipped into that green jacket.

Scheffler pulled ahead with magnificent shots around the turn, poured it on along the back nine as his challengers&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/masters-augusta-national-bc2c153f3f5b6b46cab93231c2fe39e5">melted away with mistakes</a>&nbsp;and closed with a 4-under 68 to claim his second Masters in three years with a four-shot victory.

“I had a lot of really talented players trying to chase me down, and I knew pars weren’t going to get it done,” Scheffler said.

Unlike two years ago&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/Scottie-Scheffler-the-Masters-Rory-McIlroy-Augusta-golf-2aa43983368331963764fc0761f09abe">when he won his first major</a>, there were no doubts Sunday morning, no tears, and no wife to reassure him he was built for a moment like this. His wife, Meredith, was home in Dallas expecting their first child at the end of the month.

Scheffler made sure there was no drama, either.

Much like Woods he made the outcome look inevitable with sublime control, the difference being a peach shirt instead of Sunday red, and no fist pumps until it was over.

After sharing hugs with caddie Ted Scott and Collin Morikawa, Scheffler&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/TheMasters/status/1779677337371517158" target="_blank">turned to face the crowd with both arms raised</a>. “WOOOOOO!” he yelled, slamming his fist.

<a href="https://apnews.com/article/masters-ludvig-aberg-2024-runner-up-3012b843493a488fa6de324f2d433504">Masters newcomer Ludvig Aberg</a>, among four players who had a share of the lead at one point, lost ground with his approach went into the pond left of the 11th hole and he made double bogey. Against a player like Scheffler, those mistakes are not easy to overcome.

Aberg closed with a 69 and was the runner-up, not a bad debut for someone playing in his first major championship.

Morikawa, who had two double bogeys to fall out of the hunt, shot 74 and tied for third with Tommy Fleetwood (69) and Max Homa (73), whose hopes ended on the par-3 12th with a double bogey from the bushes, not Rae’s Creek.

“He is pretty amazing at letting things roll off his back and stepping up to very difficult golf shots and treating them like their own,” Homa said about Scheffler. “He’s obviously a tremendous talent, but I think that is his superpower.”

Woods, meanwhile, closed with a 77 and finished in last place at 16-over 304, the highest 72-hole score of his career. This came two days after he set the Masters record for making his 24th consecutive cut.

The 27-year-old Scheffler is the fourth-youngest player to have two green jackets. He now has three victories against the strongest fields — Bay Hill, The Players Championship and the Masters — in his last four starts. The other was a runner-up finish in Houston.

Scheffler finished at 11-under 277 and earned $3.6 million from the $20 million purse.

Perhaps even more daunting for the rest of golf is that Scheffler now has 10 victories worldwide dating to his first PGA Tour title at the Phoenix Open just two years and two months ago.

During that stretch, Scheffler has finished in the top 10 a staggering 65% of the time.

It was the fourth straight Masters when the winner came to the 18th green with one arm in the green jacket. That doesn’t mean Sunday was a walk in golf’s most gorgeous garden.

“I felt like I was battling the whole week,” Scheffler said. “It was a long week. I had to battle some ups and downs. And, you know, I’m very fortunate to be sitting here with you.”

Four players had a share of the lead at various points along the front nine, and then Scheffler began to assert himself with three straight birdies around the turn.

He got up-and-down with a 10-foot birdie putt at the par-5 eighth. He hit the perfect wedge that caught the ridge and&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/TheMasters/status/1779616581770707037" target="_blank">came inches within going in on No. 9</a>, leaving him a tap-in birdie. And then he holed another 10-foot birdie putt on the 10th to build a two-shot lead.

“I hadn’t hit many good iron shots, which is a bit unusual for me,” Scheffler said. “And going into No. 9, it was nice to get that feeling of hitting a really well-struck shot and then it set me up to have a really nice back nine.”

And then, just like in the best days of Woods, he let everyone else make the big numbers.

In the group ahead, Aberg’s approach to the 11th slammed off the bank and into the water, leading to double bogey.

Homa managed a tough par on the 11th, only to hit it so long over the par-3 12th the golf ball plunged deep into bushes and left him no choice but to take a penalty drop. His chip didn’t reach the green, and two putts later he had double bogey.

Morikawa already had begun to slide by taking two shots to get out of a deep bunker left of the ninth green for double bogey. He all but sealed his fate with a shot into the water on the 11th and took double bogey.

⛳ Scottie Scheffler unstoppable and wins another Masters green jacket

The Jayhawks out-hit the Red Raiders six to five and left seven runners on base as KU fell to 26-14-1 and 11-7 in Big 12 play, while Texas Tech improved to 26-13 (6-9 Big 12).
HOW IT HAPPENED

The Red Raiders opened the first with a triple down the right field line and the runner advanced home on a wild pitch to give TTU an early 1-0 lead.</li>
 <li style="color: rgb(30, 31, 33);font-size: 16px;border: 0px;">The Jayhawks answered right back with two runs in the top of the second. Hailey Cripe got the bats going&nbsp;for Kansas with a leadoff single up the middle, followed by a RBI double by Sara Roszak to tie the game 1-1. After Roszak&nbsp;advanced&nbsp;to third&nbsp;thanks to&nbsp;a flyout, Ashlyn Anderson brought her home with a RBI single to give KU its first lead of the day, 2-1.</li>

Presley Limbaugh doubled to left and got to third in the fifth but was also left stranded to leave Kansas still trailing by one.</li>

🥎 Jayhawks drop series finale at Texas Tech

 </figure><div>LAWRENCE, Kan. &ndash; Kansas exploded for 16 runs in the sixth inning and the Jayhawks defeated Pacific 19-3 on Sunday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark to complete a three-game sweep. The 16 runs tied a program record for most runs in an inning.
The 16-run sixth inning included 20 batters going to the plate and collecting nine hits with two home runs. Ben Hartl hit a three-run homer and Kodey Shojinaga hit a grand slam in the sixth. Collier Cranford, John Nett, Luke Leto, Jake English and Chase Jans also drove in runs during the offensive outburst.
Nett had a career day at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, four RBIs, four runs scored and a walk. The multi-homer game was the first of his career and his four RBIs and four runs scored were both season highs. Shojinaga also finished with a career-high six RBIs. The Jayhawks moved to 19-14 on the season with the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED &bull; Nett wasted no time giving Kansas the lead as he hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first inning to give Kansas a 1-0 advantage. &bull; Pacific (6-29) came back and took the lead in the top of the third inning with an RBI double by Kaden Petersen and an RBI single by Chase Graves. The Tigers were up 2-1 after three innings. &bull; Pacific added another run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Rylan Evans to make it 3-1. &bull; Kansas got the run back in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out RBI double by Collier Cranford. That cut the Pacific lead to 3-2. &bull; In the bottom of the fifth, Nett led off the inning with his second home run of the game. The solo homer tied the game at 3-3. &bull; The first of the 16 runs in the sixth inning came on an RBI single by Cranford. A couple batters later, Nett hit a two-run single. Shojinaga followed that up two batters later with a two-run single of his own. Then, Hartl hit a three-run homer to left field. Later in the inning, Leto hit an RBI single and English was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Shojinaga was up next and crushed a grand slam to left-center field. Jans wrapped up the scoring with a two-run double. That brought the score to 19-3 where it ended after seven innings.

Braves ace Spencer Strider will miss the rest of the season after having UCL surgery

MIAMI (AP) — The Atlanta Braves say ace Spencer Strider will miss the rest of the season after having surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, Texas, performed the procedure on Friday. Strider complained about discomfort in his elbow after pitching four innings in Atlanta's 6-5 win over Arizona on April 5. An MRI the next day revealed damage to his UCL. Braves manager Brian Snitker says the team has been looking at replacement options since Strider initially went down but doesn't have anyone specific in mind yet.

Coyotes sale to Utah Jazz owner expected next week, Arizona to get expansion team, AP source says

TEMPE. Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes will likely be sold to Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith shortly after the team's final game and will include a provision guaranteeing current owner Alex Meruelo an expansion team if a new arena is built within five years, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press. The $1 billion sale is expected to happen between the Coyotes' final game of the 2023-24 season and the start of the playoffs, barring unforeseen circumstances, the person said on condition of anonymity because the planned deal has not been announced. The deal will transfer the franchise's hockey operations to Smith, who plans to move the team to Salt Lake City, and Meruelo will move forward with a planned $3 billion project that will include a new arena in Phoenix.

&nbsp; NORMAN, Okla.  —K-State could not overcome the early six runs Oklahoma put on the board, as the Sooners pounded out 16 hits and dealt the Wildcats an 11-4 loss on Saturday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. With the win, Oklahoma takes the series and sits atop the Conference standings alongside West Virginia.

K-State (21-12, 7-7 Big 12), down 6-0 entering the sixth inning, came back with four runs that included a two-run triple by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/kaelen-culpepper/11460">Kaelen Culpepper</a>&nbsp;to bring the game within two. However, the Sooners (20-14, 10-4 Big 12) rattled off six hits in the eighth to help drive in five runs and put the game away.

"Proud of the fight to almost have that game turn our way but in the end, we were not able to make the plays we needed to and they did," K-State head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/coaches/pete-hughes/2461">Pete Hughes</a>&nbsp;said.

Right-hander Kyson Witherspoon was awarded the victory, as the sophomore from Jacksonville, Fla., held the Wildcats to one hit with eight strikeouts through five innings (3-2). Witherspoon finished the day allowing four runs, all earned, on five hits in his 5 1/3 innings of work.&nbsp;

"Witherspoon was really good over five innings, keeping us to one hit, that allowed their offense to take advantage of the long ball. They capitalized when they were able to get that lead runner on. OU took advantage of a single and pair of walks to load the bases in the home half of the frame, but a chopper to second ended the threat to get K-State out of the jam, but the Sooners bounced back and homered in three consecutive innings to jump out to a six run-lead.

NEW YORK (AP) — Salvador Perez hit his milestone 250th homer and Bobby Witt Jr. scored four times to lead the Kansas City Royals to an 11-7 win over the New York Mets on Saturday.

Perez, who won the 2015 World Series MVP when Kansas City beat the Mets in five games, laced a two-run single in the second before hitting a replay-aided two-run homer in the fourth. He was originally credited with an RBI double when Brandon Nimmo got a piece of the ball as he crashed into the left-center-field wall, but the Royals challenged and a review showed the ball rolled over the orange home-run line.

“Means a lot — super exciting, especially (in) the win,” Perez said. “Hopefully many more.”

Perez is the sixth Venezuela-born player to hit 250 homers as well as the 12th primary catcher in big league history to do so.

“It’s special for us — everybody that gets to witness this, day in and day out, the fans in Kansas City have seen it for 13 years now,” second-year Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. “Just to be here everyday and watch somebody like him, as professional as he is, continue to rack up those accolades is really special.”

The four-run game was the second of the week for Witt, who also scored four times in Thursday’s 13-3 win over the Houston Astros. He just missed scoring a fifth run in the sixth inning Saturday, when Nimmo robbed him of a three-run homer with a leaping catch at the right-center-field wall.

Nick Loftin collected a career-high three RBIs as Kansas City improved to 10-5 — just the seventh time in franchise history the Royals have won at least 10 of their first 15 games.

The Royals have outscored their opponents 84-46, which is the second-largest run differential in team history through 15 games behind the 1977 team (plus-39), which won 102 games and the AL West.

“We’re trying to make it an everyday thing — just showing up to the yard, knowing that we’re supposed to win,” Witt said. “That’s how you’ve got to prepare. You can’t come to the field being skeptical about anything. Just come to the field ready to play ready to win.”

Alec Marsh (2-0) gave up four runs in five innings.

Pete Alonso hit solo homers to left in the third and sixth and finished with three RBIs for the Mets, who were trying to get to .500 for the first time this season. New York trailed 11-4 in the sixth but got the tying run on deck in the ninth, when Francisco Lindor grounded out against James McArthur to strand two.

“Got down a few runs there and continued to put together good at-bats, continued to put pressure, continued to get traffic all the way to the end,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said. “Guys battled them pitch to pitch. That’s good to see, obviously.”

The multi-homer game was the 20th for Alonso, leaving him just two shy of Darryl Strawberry’s franchise record.

Sean Manaea (1-1) allowed eight runs (six earned) in 3 2/3 innings. He surrendered just one run over 11 innings in his first two starts.

Royals: IF Michael Massey (lower back strain) went 2-for-4 in his fourth rehab game with Double-A Omaha Saturday. Massey is 6-of-18 with the Storm Chasers.

Mets: RHP Kodai Senga (right shoulder strain), who is on the 60-day injured list and ineligible to return until May 27, was slated to throw from 120 feet Saturday. … Manager Carlos Mendoza said DH J.D. Martinez (back) is still not participating in baseball activities, four days after he received a cortisone shot. … RHP Sean Reid-Foley (right shoulder) is scheduled to throw an inning for Single-A Brooklyn on Sunday.

The series concludes Sunday, when the Mets plan to recall RHP José Buttó (0-0, 1.50 ERA) from Triple-A Syracuse to start against Royals LHP Cole Ragans (0-1, 2.60 ERA).
