Kansas hit three home runs in three consecutive innings and built a 7-1 lead by the middle of the fourth inning. John Nett, Michael Brooks and Collier Cranford all hit opposite field home runs. KU has scored at least eight runs in eight of its last nine games.
Evan Shaw started and pitched three innings and allowed one run while striking out three. Cooper Moore, Kolby Dougan and Hunter Cranton all had scoreless appearances out of the bullpen. Shaw earned the win on Tuesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED &bull; Kansas (22-15) started the scoring in the second inning as the Jayhawks broke through for four runs. With one out and runners on first and second, Collier Cranford hit an RBI double into the gap in left-center field. Mike Koszewski followed with an RBI groundout that scored a run and advanced Cranford to third base. Two pitches later, Cranford scored on a wild pitch. The scoring ended with a John Nett opposite field solo home run. Midway through the second Kansas led 4-0. &bull; Nebraska (25-13) hit a solo homer to start the bottom of the second inning that came off the bat of Tyler Stone to make it a 4-1 game. &bull; Riding a 17-game hitting streak, Michael Brooks made it 18 games with a solo homer to right field to lead off the third inning. &bull; The home runs continued as Collier Cranford led off the top of the fourth with a solo home run. The Jayhawks added another run in the inning on an RBI single by Kodey Shojinaga. That put Kansas ahead 7-1. &bull; The Cornhuskers got the two runs back in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run double by Cayden Brambaugh. That cut the lead to 7-3. &bull; After a scoreless fifth and sixth inning, Kansas added to its lead in the seventh. The Jayhawks loaded the bases and Cranford sent a two-run single up the middle to stretch the lead to 9-3. &bull; Nebraska scored one more run in the eighth on an RBI single by Joshua Overbeek. That wrapped up the scoring at 9-4.

MANHATTAN, Kan. — K-State used a four-run third inning to hand Omaha a 6-4 defeat Tuesday night at Tointon Family Stadium.

&nbsp; "Important win for our program," said K-State head baseball coach&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/coaches/pete-hughes/2461">Pete Hughes</a>. "We are heading down the homestretch. Every game is so valuable even on Tuesdays, there are RPI ramifications, and I thought it was a solid team effort."

⚾ Four-run third pushes K-State past Omaha

NORMAN, Okla. — Wichita State held a red-hot Oklahoma offense to just three hits but could only muster a single run as the #18-ranked Sooners held off WSU 3-1 on Tuesday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

&nbsp; The Shockers (21-21) used nine pitchers, none for longer than four outs, to keep the Sooners (25-14) off balance throughout the evening. Starter&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/jack-mount/7599">Jack Mount</a>&nbsp;worked a scoreless first and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/daniel-zang/7601">Daniel Zang</a>&nbsp;logged a 1-2-3 second, but Oklahoma did all their damage in the third against the combination of Zang and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/drew-iverson/7618">Drew Iverson</a>.

Back-to-back one-out walks set the stage for Bryce Madron, who banged an RBI double into the right field corner for a 1-0 lead. Easton Carmichael followed with a two-run single, extending the lead to 3-0.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In the third, three walks loaded the bases again with two outs, but Callahan's deep fly to center was caught just shy of the warning track.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; The only offense came courtesy of&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/jordan-rogers/7538">Jordan Rogers</a>, who smacked a solo home run to lead off the top of the fourth inning off reliever Will Karsten that pulled the Shockers within 3-1. WSU got two-out, extra-base hits in the sixth (Rogers triple), seventh (<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/camden-johnson/7605">Camden Johnson</a>&nbsp;double), and eighth (Callahan double) but failed to produce a run in all three chances.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; Malachi Witherspoon worked a 1-2-3 ninth to secure his second save of the season, both against the Shockers. Carter Campbell (2-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief.

Zang (2-3) took the loss for Wichita State, allowing two runs in 1.1 innings.

The Shockers return home for a three-game conference series against Tulane. First pitch of Friday's series opener is scheduled for 6:00 pm.&nbsp;

SALINA, Kan. — The Hutchinson Salthawk baseball team saw its six-game winning streak come to an end, but were able to salvage a split against Salina Central on Tuesday at Dean Evans Stadium.

The Salthawks lost game one 5-4, before bouncing back for a 5-1 win in game two.

Hutchinson is now 11-8 on the season and will travel to El Dorado on Thursday for a single game, beginning at 4 p.m. at McDonald Stadium.

Game 1: Salina Central 5, Hutchinson 4 The Salthawks scored two in the top of the seventh inning to keep the game alive, but in the end, the Mustangs secured the walk-off win on an RBI single to centerfield.&nbsp;

The loss ended the six-game winning streak for the Salthawks.

Hutchinson out-hit the Mustangs, nine to eight in the loss, including two-hit games from Caiden Beavers, Cole Bleything, Landon Parks and Jack Yoder.

The Salthawks took the 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI groundout from Beavers. Salina Central tied the game up with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.

The Mustangs plated three runs in the fourth inning on three hits and a Salthawk error, to lead 4-1 through four complete.

Hutchinson scored one more in the fifth to pull within 4-2 on an RBI single from Parks.

The Salthawks scored two in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game on four straight batters reaching safely, but were unable to grab the lead, stranding two baserunners.

After a strikeout from Beavers led off the bottom of the seventh, the next four Mustangs reached base safely to walk-off game one.

Beavers suffered the loss on the mound, going 2 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and one run.

Jack Gordon for Salina Central was credited with the blown save and the win, after blowing the two-run lead, but also becoming the final Mustang pitcher used in the win.

NEWTON – The Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team made team history on Tuesday by winning a fifth-straight Jayhawk Conference team championship.

The No. 5-ranked Blue Dragons finished second in Tuesday’s weather-shortened Jayhawk Championship, the third of three league-designated tournaments. The season team and individual champions are decided by points accumulated by performances in those three tournaments.

With two first-place team titles and a second-place showing this week, the Blue Dragons accumulated 26.5 team points for the 2024 season championship, edging Dodge City, which scored 26 points after two second-place showing and Tuesday’s team title.

The Blue Dragons had two streaks of four-straight league titles – the current streak from 2019-2023 (the 2020 season was canceled because Coronavirus pandemic) and 2008 to 2011. The 2024 team added to the current streak to break that tie.

Hutchinson has now accumulated 12 KJCCC team championships, all under head coach Chris Young.

Four Blue Dragon players earned all-conference honors in 2024.

Freshmen Charlie Box and David Razinskas earned first-team honors. Box was second in the individual standings with 26.5 points after finishes of second, first and a tie for fifth in the league tournaments. Razinskas was fifth in the standings with 18.25 points, accumulating places of third, third and a tie for eighth.

Redshirt freshman Louis Ross earned second-team honors with a 10th-place season performance. Ross finished with 7.75 points. Marco Anderson was an honorable mention player after finishing 12th in the league standings with 4 points.

Playing in much friendlier weather conditions than Monday’s gusty 40 mph wins; the Blue Dragons posted a 3-under 285 on Tuesday. The Dragons entered the final round trailing Dodge City by five strokes after Monday’s weather-inflated 319.

Dodge City went low in Tuesday’s improved conditions, posting a 12-under 276 in the final 18 points to defeat the Blue Dragons 588-602. Garden City was third at 616 (322-294). The Blue Dragons counted scores of 70 from Box, 71 from Razinskas and Anderson and 73 from Ross.

The Blue Dragons had two players finish in the tournament’s Top 10.

Box tied for sixth in the Jayhawk Championship at 150 (80-70). Razinskas tied for eighth at 151 (80-71).

Ross placed 13th at 153 (80-73). Anderson and Keaton Thissen tied for 14th at 154. Anderson had rounds of 83 and 71, while Thissen had a pair of 77s.

Blue Dragon individual Brooks Sauder placed 37th overall with a 166, carding rounds of 90 and 76.

Dodge City’s Arthit Kruaprayong rallied to win the tournament title and take KJCCC Player of the Year honors. After a Monday round of 80, Kruaprayong blistered Sand Creek Station with a 64 on Tuesday to win the tournament by one stroke at 144.

The Blue Dragons will now travel to the Plains District/Region VI Tournament next Monday and Tuesday at Tiffany Greens Golf Club in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Knicks trailed by five points within the final 30 seconds, on the verge of losing home-court advantage before a stunning rally, starting when Jalen Brunson finally got a shot to fall during an otherwise miserable night. Brunson finished with 24 points despite going 8 for 29 from the field. Josh Hart had 21 points and 15 rebounds, and DiVincenzo scored 19 points.

No, James was upset about the NBA's replay center reversing a foul call on the Nuggets in the second half. James said Michael Porter Jr. clearly hit D'Angelo Russell in the face and that the call shouldn't have been reversed. The Lakers are down 2-0 with the series heading to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Thursday.

76ers plan to file grievance about officiating during first two games of series against Knicks

NEW YORK (AP) — A team spokesman says the Philadelphia 76ers plan to file a grievance related to the officiating during their series against the New York Knicks. The 76ers lost both games in New York, with the Knicks rallying in the final 30 seconds for a 104-101 victory on Monday night. 76ers center Joel Embiid believed Tyrese Maxey was fouled when the Knicks stole the ball from him on the possession that led to the go-ahead 3-pointer by Donte DiVincenzo. Embiid also said coach Nick Nurse and some players were trying to call timeout on the play.

NFL teams often misfire on drafting QBs. But how often do they fail? And why?

NFL teams are using premium draft picks on quarterbacks at an increasingly high rate. The draft this weekend is slated to be the eighth in the past nine years with at least three QBs taken in the first round. That will match the number of times that happened in the first 38 years of the common draft era. But finding a capable starter is still essentially a coin-flip proposition. Half of the first round QBs from 2011 until 2022 left their original teams without reaching the relatively low bar of receiving a second contract.

Jets trade quarterback Zach Wilson to the Broncos, AP source says

A person familiar with the deal tells The Associated Press the New York Jets have traded quarterback Zach Wilson to the Denver Broncos. The Jets are sending Wilson and a seventh-round pick in this week's draft to the Broncos for a sixth-rounder, the person said. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the teams haven't announced the deal. NFL Network first reported the trade. The Jets are parting ways with Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 draft, after just three disappointing seasons. New York is also expected to pay a portion of Wilson's $5.5 million salary for this season.

Orlando's Jalen Suggs says he's ready for Game 3 after shaking off knee injury in loss to Cavs

CLEVElAND (AP) — Jalen Suggs made a stunning comeback for Orlando in Game 2. The Magic need to make one of their own to save their season. Suggs shook off what appeared to a serious injury to the guard's left knee and played most of the second half as the Magic lost 96-86 to the Cleveland Cavaliers to fall behind 0-2 in their Eastern Conference playoff series. Unable to put any weight on his leg, Suggs was carried off the floor in the first quarter in pain and crying. He played in the second half with a sleeve on his leg and says he expects to play in Game 3 at Orlando on Thursday.

Aho, Martinook cap Hurricanes' late rally to beat the Islanders for a 2-0 playoff series lead

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Sebastian Aho and Jordan Martinook scored 9 seconds apart late in the third period to help the Carolina Hurricanes complete a comeback from three goals down to beat the New York Islanders 5-3. That gave Carolina a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series in improbable fashion. Aho struck first by redirecting Andrei Svechnikov's shot at the right post behind Semyon Varlamov with 2:15 remaining to tie the game at 3. Then Martinook scored off Varlamov's left skate for the 4-3 lead. Kyle Palmieri, Bo Horvat and Anders Lee scored as the Islanders led 3-0 early in the second period.

Matthews scores as Maple Leafs beat Bruins 3-2 to tie their series at 1 game apiece

BOSTON (AP) — Auston Matthews scored on a breakaway to snap a third-period tie and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 to knot their first-round playoff series at one game apiece. Ilya Samsonov stopped 27 shots for Toronto. The Leafs had lost eight straight games to Boston over 534 days dating to November, 2022. Max Domi and John Tavares also scored for the Maple Leafs. They haven't beaten the Bruins in a playoff series since 1959. Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak scored for Boston. Linus Ullmark started as part of a goalie rotation even though Jeremy Swayman won Game 1 on Saturday. Ullmark made 30 saves.

Sabres hire Lindy Ruff as coach. He guided Buffalo to the playoffs in 2011

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Lindy Ruff is returning to Buffalo for a second stint as coach of the Sabres. General manager Kevyn Adams announced the hiring Monday. Ruff coached the Sabres from 1997-2013 and was the last person to guide them to the playoffs. Buffalo fired Don Granato after missing the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season with him in charge. The Sabres haven't made the playoffs since 2011, the longest drought in the league. Ruff coached the New Jersey Devils the past three seasons before being fired in March.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs announced Monday that they signed coach Andy Reid, general manager Brett Veach and team president Mark Donovan to contract extensions, though the team did not say how long the deals would last or provide any other details.

The Chiefs only said in a statement that “the leadership team of the Chiefs will remain in place for the long-term future.”

“Mark, Brett and Andy have achieved historic success together, and we are thrilled that they will continue in their roles for many years to come,” Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said in a statement. “Individually, Mark, Brett and Andy each represent the best in the National Football League at their respective positions, and together, they make up one of the finest leadership teams in all of professional sports. They have been tremendous leaders for this organization on and off the field."

On the field, the Chiefs have won seven consecutive AFC West titles, four conference championships and three Super Bowl titles, including the past two. They also have been in six consecutive AFC championship games.

They will head into next season trying to become the first team ever to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

“I’m incredibly grateful to Clark and the entire Hunt family for giving me the opportunity to lead this historic franchise,” Reid said in a statement. “There have been so many people that have contributed to our success and Super Bowls, and I’m grateful to the players, coaches and staff that have all invested their time into this process."

Veach, who was largely responsible for drafting Patrick Mahomes before he was promoted to GM, has worked side-by-side with Reid to build one of the deepest rosters in the NFL. Veach has been particularly adept when it comes to the draft, selecting such stars as linebacker Nick Bolton and All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie in recent years.

Donovan has been in charge of off-the-field work, such as expanding the team's international fanbase and footprint.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Bo Bichette had a bases-clearing triple, Daulton Varsho hit a two-run homer and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Kansas City Royals 5-3 on Monday night.

The Jays have won seven of nine. The Royals lost their third straight at home after winning their previous nine at Kauffman Stadium.

Yusei Kikuchi (2-1) was efficient early, allowing one baserunner on 48 pitches in the first five innings.

“(Kikuchi) was lights out early, he just ran into trouble on the sixth,” Toronto manager John Schneider said. “That’s as efficient as I’ve ever seen him with his pitch count. He was attacking guys, getting weak contact and strikeouts.

"And (we got) huge hits from Bo and Varsho, obviously.”

Kikuchi allowed a two-run home run by Maikel Garcia in the sixth. With two outs, Vinnie Pasquantino hit an infield single and Salvador Perez followed with a double. But Kikuchi retired Nelson Velázquez on a grounder to end the threat.

“My fastball was working really well today,” Kikuchi said through an interpreter. “I was able to throw it up in the zone to a lot to those hitters.”

Right-hander Tyler Duffey, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Omaha earlier Monday, worked two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three.

Jordan Romano surrendered a homer by Kyle Isbel in the ninth but finished for his third save of the season and 100th of his career.

“That’s awesome for him,” Schneider said. “Knowing him for a long time and seeing him as a starter in the minors, a lot of credit goes to him. It’s not easy to do, whether it’s a three-run lead or a one-run lead. He’s been doing it for a number of years now. (I'm) really glad we won, but really happy for him. He’s actually turned himself into a pretty elite closer.”

Brady Singer (2-1) allowed five runs on five hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked three, all of whom scored.

“(Singer) was throwing harder at the beginning of the game,” Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. “He had some good movement on his two-seamer and in his breaking ball. He threw a couple four-seamers in there as well. But he really just got hurt by the walks.”

Singer struck out the first two Toronto batters in the second inning, becoming the 19th Royals pitcher to reach 500 career strikeouts. He tied Steve Busby as the fastest Royals pitcher to achieve the milestone, getting there in his 100th appearance.

“I'm fortunate enough to play this game, so it's really cool,” Singer said.

Singer issued two walks in the third that cost him. His free pass to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. loaded the bases, and Bichette lined a triple off the glove of center fielder Garrett Hampson to score three runs.

Varsho's homer in the sixth made it 5-0, and the Royals' two homers weren't enough.

“The homers are nice,” Quatraro said. “We just need to sustain some things and be able to score in other ways as well.”

Royals: LHP Anthony Veneziano was optioned to Omaha to make room for Duffey.

Blue Jays: RHP Alek Manoah, who has yet to pitch this season because of a shoulder injury, is scheduled to start for Triple-A Buffalo Wednesday or Thursday.

The four-game series continues Tuesday with Toronto sending Kevin Gausman (0-2, 8.16 ERA) to the mound to face Michael Wacha (1-2, 3.75).

Rodriguez is already up to a Double-A lead of 10 extra base hits in 14 games in his first season playing at the level.

New Orleans' CJ McCollum missed an off-balance 3-pointer in the closing seconds and the Thunder held on to win their first home playoff game since 2019. Jalen Williams scored 19 points and Chet Holmgren added 15 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks for the Thunder. Trey Murphy III scored 21 points and McCollum added 20 for the Pelicans.

Jayson Tatum triple-double, 3s lead Celtics past Butler-less Heat 114-94 in playoff opener

BOSTON (AP) — Jayson Tatum notched his first career playoff triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Boston Celtics past the Miami Heat 114-94 to open their first-round playoff series. Derrick White added 20 points and four assists for Boston, which finished with six players in double-figures. Miami spoiled the Celtics' NBA finals dreams last season. But Boston fed off the energy of the TD Garden crowd, knocking down 22 3-pointers and outscoring the Heat 31-14 in the third quarter. The Celtics' lead grew as high as 34 points in the fourth. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani has broken Hideki Matsui's record for the most homers hit by a Japanese-born player in Major League Baseball. Ohtani crushed a two-run homer deep into the right field bleachers off Adrian Houser of the New York Mets in the third inning at Dodger Stadium. The homer was the 176th of Ohtani's six-plus seasons in the majors. That's one more than Matsui, who played the final 10 seasons of his 20-year pro career in North America. The homer was Ohtani's fifth for the Dodgers, who signed the two-time AL MVP to a $700 million contract last winter.

TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — Tyler Reddick stole a victory at Talladega Superspeedway when front-runner Michael McDowell, swerving up and down the track trying to block Brad Keselowski, wound up crashing with the finish line in sight. It was a typical Talladega finish — and set off a raucous celebration on pit road with Reddick's team owner, Basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan. McDowell was the pole-sitter and in position to give Ford its much-needed first victory of the year. But his topsy-turvy efforts to block Keselowski — another Ford driver — wound up costing them both. McDowell crashed, Keselowski had to check up and Reddick sped by to win by 0.208 seconds.

Scottie Scheffler builds 5-shot lead at Hilton Head. Rain forces a Monday finish

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is on the verge of another victory. He just has to wait one day because of the rain. Scheffler chipped in for eagle and was comfortably ahead in the RBC Heritage when storms arrived. Heavy rain stopped play for 2 1/2 hours. By the time play resumed, there was no way to finish. Scheffler was 20-under par and leading by five shots. Wyndham Clark finished with a 65 and posted 15 under. Patrick Cantlay and J.T. Poston also are at 15 under but didn't finish the 18th hole. Scheffler has three holes left to play.

Damian Lillard's 35-point 1st half helps Bucks beat Pacers 109-94 without Giannis in playoff opener

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Damian Lillard scored all 35 of his points before halftime and the Milwaukee Bucks withstood the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo to defeat the Indiana Pacers 109-94 in their Eastern Conference playoff opener. Panthers score twice in the third period and beat the Lightning 3-2 in Game 1 of NHL playoffs

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Scott Dixon moved closer to A.J. Foyt on IndyCar's all-time win list by picking up his 57th career victory with a Sunday fuel-saving master class on the downtown streets of Long Beach. Foyt is IndyCar's winningest driver with 67 career wins. Dixon's win is his second career victory in the most prestigious street course race in the United States and gave Chip Ganassi Racing a sweep of the weekend. Ganassi's sports car team of Renger van der Zande and Sebastian Bourdais won the IMSA race on Saturday. Dixon used fuel saving strategy that his rival drivers could not figure how the New Zealander made it to the finish.

SHAWNEE, Kan. — According to a social media post from Mill Valley High School where he was an assistant coach, former HutchCC and K-State football player and Manhattan High grad Terrale Johnson died at the age of 29.

There is no official word on his cause of death.

Johnson was at HutchCC in 2012 and 2013 and played at K-State from 2014-2016.

In his final year of college football, the 6-foot-1 offensive lineman started all 13 games and earned First Team All-Big 12 honors.

Johnson was listed as a para and resource teacher at Shawnee Mission South.&nbsp;

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Colton Cowser and Jordan Westburg hit back-to-back homers for Baltimore off Royals starter Seth Lugo, who had not allowed a home run since last September, and the Orioles went on to beat Kansas City 5-0 on Sunday.

Cole Irvin (1-1) scattered four hits and two walks in 6 2/3 innings for Baltimore. He stranded a runner on third in the first inning and another at second base in the fifth while earning his first win since beating the Royals on June 10, 2023.

“Just a quality team game,” Irvin said. “Felt like we did all the little things right today.”

The Royals were shut out for the first time this season after they were blanked 15 times last year.

Lugo (3-1) had pushed his streak of not allowing a homer to 41 1/3 innings before Cowser sent an 0-1 pitch soaring into the right-field fountains leading off the third. Westburg followed two pitches later with his drive into the left-field seats.

Cowser's splash came one day after&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kimbrel-save-ball-fountain-a60d00b16645de64c2e8797bb74a1d51">he mistakenly threw the souvenir ball from Craig Kimbrell's 422nd save into the fountains</a>&nbsp;while celebrating the Orioles' 9-7 win. The save tied Kimbrell for seventh on the career list, so Cowser ran back to the field after the game and managed to fish the ball out of the water with the help of some stadium staff.

“We prefer he hit one into the fountains,” Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said, “than throw one in the fountains.”

Lugo, who had allowed three runs in 25 2/3 innings, was dinged for four runs, nine hits and a walk in 5 1/3 innings Sunday.

Ryan Mountcastle added an RBI double and Westburg walked with the bases loaded to make it 4-0 in the sixth. Ryan O'Hearn drove in a run with an infield single in the eighth to help Baltimore pull away.

The Royals tried to rally in the eighth, putting runners at the corners with one out. But Danny Coulombe froze Salvador Perez with a pitch on the inside corner, then struck out Nelson Velázquez to end the inning.

“We didn't get much going,” manager Matt Quatraro said. “We had a couple of chances there where we didn't capitalize. When a team shuts you out, you have to tip your cap.”

Orioles OF Austin Hays (calf) was unavailable Sunday after being pulled from the game the previous night, Hyde said. The club plans to evaluate him again when it arrives in California for a series against the Angels.

Royals LHP Jake Brentz (hamstring) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha. He last appeared in a game for Kansas City on April 29, 2022, before undergoing Tommy John surgery. Brentz hurt his hamstring during a spring training game in March and had been throwing in Arizona.

The Orioles visit the Angels on Monday night, with RHP Albert Suárez getting the start.
