
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Wichita State was held scoreless in its Texas road trip opener at Texas State, 5-0, on Wednesday evening at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
Texas State struck first, piecing together two hits and a walk in the second inning to score two runs, taking a 2-0 lead.
Neither side scored again until the fifth, when the Bobcats boomed a two-run home run to right field, doubling their lead to 4-0. Texas State scored again later in the inning with a solo homer, taking a 5-0 lead through five innings.
Wichita State starter Ava Sliger suffered the loss, throwing 5.0 innings, and allowing five runs on seven hits. Ryley Nihart dealt a scoreless inning in relief, recording a strikeout.
Ellee Eck, Lauren Lucas and Brookelyn Livanec were the lone Shockers to record a hit in the contest.
