On January 28, 1961, she married Francisco “Frank” Torrez, Sr., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, when it was located on Avenue E and Adams, Hutchinson.

Mary is survived by:&nbsp; her husband of almost 61 years, Frank; children, Frank Torrez, Jr. (Bridget), Karen Torrez, Joe Torrez (Cathy), and Lisa Torrez, all of Hutchinson; sisters, Angelina Rivera of Hutchinson and Carmen Mello of Las Vegas, NV; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Raymond G. “Ray” Torrez; and seven brothers and sisters.

Burton W. Snyder passed away on October 27, 2021, at Mennonite Friendship Communities.  He was born on March 26, 1920, to Burt and Rachel (Dowdy) Snyder in St. John, Kansas.  Burton grew up west of St. John on the farm homesteaded by his grandfather.  He graduated from St. John High School in 1939.

Burton was a WWII veteran, serving in the South Pacific with the Coast Guard.

He married Virginia Ann Taylor on January 22, 1950, at her parents’ home, in rural St. John.  They shared 71 years of marriage. They resided on the Snyder farm for 60 years as farmers.  Upon retiring, Burton and Virginia Ann traveled internationally and in the United States.

They moved to Hutchinson in 2010, and to Mennonite Friendship Communities in 2017.

Survivors include:  wife, Virginia Ann of the home; daughter, Eileen (Mark) Yamauchi, Hutchinson; son, Lance (Olivia) Snyder, Ouray, Colorado; grandchildren; Sara Yamauchi, Hutchinson, Crystal (Paul) Gonzales, Hutchinson, Adam Snyder, Durango, Colorado, and Eloris Snyder, Houston, Texas; great grandchildren, Quentin (Casey) Clapp, Hutchinson, and Kaiya Vallas-Yamauchi, Hutchinson, and a great-great -grandson due January 2022; and brother-in-law, Tom (Jean) Taylor, Dodge City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Wendell and Wayne Snyder

Cremation has taken place.  A graveside service will take place at a future date.

He graduated from Berean Academy Class of 1966 and then went on to receive his Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Fort Hays State University in 1971. He married the love of his life, Jo Ann (Giebler) Gottschalk on May 8, 1982, in Hays, Kansas.

Lauren retired from Scott Rice Office Interiors as a salesman in 2018. He was a member of Central Christian Church where he taught marriage classes, mentored married couples, and was an elder. He was also a member of Bel Aire Chamber of Commerce. He loved his family especially the grandkids, fishing, golfing, and restoring his 1979 El Camino. His loving family includes his wife, Jo Ann of the home; sons, Garry Thiessen of Ames, Iowa, Brent Thiessen (Wendy) of Marshalltown, Iowa, Scott Thiessen (Tammy) of Avon, Ohio, Cory Gottschalk of Norman, Oklahoma, Chad Gottschalk (Cassie) of Wichita; daughter, Nicole Thiessen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sisters and their husbands, Jolyn and Dave Stark of Raymore, Missouri and Lavada and Dan Klinger of Phillipsburg, Kansas; 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews. Anastasia “Anna” Galarza-Santillano, 74, of McPherson, KS, and formerly of Mexico, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at McPherson Health &amp; Rehab. She retired from Nations Pizza &amp; Food.

Anna was born on June 5, 1947, in Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Felipe´ Galarza and Maria E. Santillano.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson.

Survivors include: three children, Oscar Galindo (Eva Galindo) of Temecula, CA, Anna Galindo (John Pyle) of El Dorado, KS, and Carmen Schowengerdt-Moore (Derek Moore) of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, Oscar Galindo, Jr., Alex Galindo, Naomi Galindo, Jason Schowengerdt, Jr., Rosario Schowengerdt, and Derek Moore, Jr.; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings.

Betty Jean (Martin) Felin, age 90, passed away on Oct. 25, 2021 at her home in St. John, KS.  

She was born on Feb. 24, 1931 at Eagle City, OK., the daughter of Charles A. and Jessie M. (Stott) Martin. She worked 17 years as a cook for St. John District Hospital and previously ran the Delp’s Café and worked as a clerk at Rexall Drug store, all of St. John.  On Feb. 9, 1951 she married Robert E. Felin at Marshfield, MO., he passed away in 2000.  She loved spending time with her family and hosting meals which she prepared from scratch.  She loved the Atlanta Braves Baseball team, watching NASCAR, drinking Dr. Pepper in her Mark Martin mug and listening to Johnny Rodriguez sing.  She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah (Joe) Hearn, St. John, KS., Cathey (Gary) Johnson, Larned, KS., Sandra Spencer, Hutchinson, KS; a brother, Eldon (Joyce) Martin, Mannford, OK; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a son Bobby Felin, daughter-in-law Cindy Marie, an infant daughter, brothers, Rex and Joe, sisters, Bonnie and Barbara.

She was born July 6, 1927, at St. Francis, Kansas the daughter of George Daniel and Josephine C. Tagtmeyer Felzien.&nbsp; A longtime Kingman resident, she was a retired beautician

On June 26, 1943, she married Floyd Yoder at Goodland, Kansas; he died Oct. 22, 2007.&nbsp; Survivors include grandchildren Troy Yoder, Kelsey Yoder, Laurie Simmons, Christy Johnston and Stasi Fox.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by son Danny Yoder; two brothers and two sisters.

Larry L. Harbin, 80, died Oct. 26, 2021 at Cunningham, Kansas.

He was born Nov. 7, 1940, at Anthony, Kansas the son of Squire Oliver and Beryl Helene Wilcox.&nbsp; A resident of the Harper and Anthony communities most of his life, he was a retired auto mechanic.

Larry was a 1959 graduate of Anthony High school where he excelled in sports and was an Eagle Scout.&nbsp; He was also active in the Anthony Gun Club.

He married Barbara J. Renollet.&nbsp; He married Donna Burling on Aug. 24, 1985, at Anthony.&nbsp; Other survivors include sons and their wives, Mike and Carol, Brad, Mark and Pam and Galen and Claudia; step-daughter Joyce Ann Robinson and husband David; step-son Marvin Burling, Jr. and wife Shannon; 13 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; He was preceded by a brother Donald Jack Harbin and his sister Donna Sue DeWoody.

Marsha Kay Jones, 74, passed away October 28, 2021 at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born January 10, 1947 in Colorado Springs, CO, the daughter of John Ralph and Ruth Gail Davidson Maghlin. She was a graduate of Dighton High School. She had worked for 30 years as a quality control chemist at Pfizer,Inc., McPherson. She married John Mullen in 1966. They divorced in 1974. She then married Robert Jones in 1980. They divorced in 2009.

Survivors include her children, Shelly (Dale) Baerg, Groveland and Kaleo (Melissa) Mullen, Memphis, TN; stepchildren, Kyle Jones, McPherson and Brandy (Roger) Koppes, Kenai, Alaska; grandchildren, Braden Culbertson, Sarah Herrington, Hannah Field, Destiny Alford, Zach Edwards, and John Noah Mullen; brothers J.D. Richard “Dick” Arthur Stow, 88, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away on his 88th birthday, Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge.  He was born October 28, 1933, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Orville and Mabel (Bloomberg) Stow.

He graduated from Davenport High School in Davenport, Iowa, with the class of 1951. 

Dick was enlisted in the United States Navy from 1955-1959, attaining the rank of Engineman 2nd class.

He was a member of the Young at Hearts in Hutchinson.  Dick attended Union Valley Bible Church in Hutchinson.

Dick worked as a Poultry Serviceman at Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. for 28 years, retiring in 1999.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Semones on November 29, 1968, in Hutchinson, Kansas.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his sister, Mary E. (Phil) McAlearney, and their children, Steve McAlearney and Sheryl McAlearney.

Brenda graduated from Hutchinson High School and Salt City Business College.&nbsp; She was employed for over 30 years at DJ Liquor Store, formerly Rayl’s Liquor Store.&nbsp; Brenda was also employed at Rayl’s Car Wash, then later became the owner and operator of Kay C’s Car Wash for over 10 years.

She enjoyed taking care of her flower garden and attending concerts, no matter the genre of music.&nbsp; Brenda enjoyed working and was a dedicated and hard worker her entire life.

Roxanne S. Treece, 67, of McPherson, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 at her home.&nbsp; She was born on January 22, 1954 in Loveland, Colorado, the daughter of Ralph and Barbara (Neitzel) Treece.

She attended Washington Elementary, Loveland Jr. High and Loveland High School.

Roxanne worked as a cook at Sirloin Stockade and the Cedars in McPherson.

She was a member at the First United Methodist Church in McPherson.&nbsp; Roxanne was a former president of the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI). &nbsp;She was also a volunteer worker at the Cedars.

Roxanne enjoyed reading and going on drives with Karen.&nbsp; She loved nature and the mountains, and her cats, Dozer and Smokie.

She is survived by her brother, Bruce (Nadine) Treece of Loveland, CO; sisters, Jennifer (Bill) Wagaman of Loveland, CO, and Kaylene Treece of Loveland, CO; and adoptive sisters, Alicia Heim, Mindy Komarek, and Marcy Smith.

Raeburn M. “Marvin” Howard, 92, died October 26, 2021, surrounded by his family, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born April 22, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Raeburn McKinley and Jessie E. (McElwain) Howard.&nbsp;

Marvin grew up on the family farm east of Burrton, attended Page School-District 08 and graduated from Burrton High School.&nbsp; He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.&nbsp; Marvin retired from Hutchinson Regional Medical Center after more than 25 years as a maintenance engineer.&nbsp; Prior to that, he worked at Detroiter MH and in the Great Bend area oil fields as a roughneck in the 50’s &amp; 60’s.&nbsp; He enjoyed “hobby” farming, researching and monitoring investments, artistic painting, creating decorative metal art, working on family home improvements, and attending grandchildren’s activities.

On March 18, 1956, he married Annetta Marie Unruh at First Mennonite Church in Halstead.&nbsp; She died May 1, 2019, after sharing 63 years of marriage.

Marvin is survived by:&nbsp; children, Susan Stroberg (David) of Hutchinson, Steven Howard (Vicki) of Halstead, David Howard (Debbie) of Hutchinson, and Kathy Dey (Mike) of Overland Park; grandchildren, Andrea Kitch (Scott) and their children, Kinley and Kasen, Scott Stroberg (Gretchen) and their children, Lewis, Sylvia, and Hank, Amy Rine (Cody), Aaron Howard (Taryn), Kyle Howard (Malika), Shelby Kaufman (Tyler), Andrew Howard, Ross Howard (Liz), and their child, due January 2022, Jack Howard, Elyse Howard, Owen Dey, and Miles Dey.

He was born October 30, 1943, in Kingman, Kansas, the son of Adin and Ida [Sinnett] Robey.

Reva Nadine Goheen, 70, of Hutchinson, died October 26, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born November 1, 1950, in Hutchinson, to William and Lorene (Smith) Olson.

Reva graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968 and attended Hutchison Community College. She was a homemaker. Reva enjoyed playing games of all kinds; from Yahtzee with her family, to bingo, to going to casinos.

On July 14, 1970, she married Laymond “Lewis” Goheen Jr., in Oklahoma City, OK. They shared 51 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: daughter, Deanna Mitchell and husband Joseph; sister, Delta Sullivan and husband Roger; and brother, Loren Olson, all of Hutchinson.

Reva was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Wilda Miller.

Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held. Inurnment will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

Vernon Schmidt, 75, passed away October 26, 2021 surrounded by family. Vernon was born December 12, 1945 to Jacob Schmidt Laura Schroeder Schmidt of Goessel. He was born on the family farmstead the oldest of four boys, Norman, DeWayne, and Larry. Vernon attended Goessel schools and graduated in 1963.

Vernon married Susan Hurst in 1967. They had three children, Elizabeth “Jane” Baker, Timothy Schmidt, and Amy Stiver. They later divorced.

Vernon began working at Hesston Corporation in the 1970’s. During this time he worked part-time as a police officer with Hesston Police Department. Vernon left Hesston Corp and went to work for the Harvey County Sheriff’s Department in the Jail. He became Jail Captain and assisted with the planning and building of the Harvey County Detention Center. Vernon retired in December 2011 after serving 25 years with Harvey County. He also could be found on Friday and Saturday nights working security at the old South Dillons. In his free time, Vernon enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, and KU basketball. He could also be seen driving around town with his Husky, Malakai.

Vernon is survived by two children, Tim Schmidt (Michelle) of Junction City, Amy Stiver (Brian) of Newton and Son-in-law Paul Baker of Newton; Grandchildren Jessica (Noah) Wuest, Jacob Raprager (Sarah Doody), Jayden Stiver, Matthew Baker all of Newton and Brian Baker of Austin Texas; Great grandson Parker Wuest; bonus daughter Shawn Wetschensky and grandson Keaton Wetschensky; brother Larry (Kela) Schmidt of Newton. He was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dewayne and Norman and his daughter Elizabeth “Jane” Baker.

Graveside committal service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Goessel Mennonite Cemetery in Goessel, Kansas. &nbsp;Viewing and visitation with be Friday October 29, 2021 from 5:00-9:00 pm with family greeting from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Douglas Leon Barnes, 67, of Hutchinson, departed from this life on October 23, 2021. He was born September 28, 1954, in Hutchinson, to Ivan and Glenda Barnes.

Doug graduated high school in Wellston, Oklahoma in 1973. Soon after he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1977. Doug was honorably discharged and returned to Oklahoma and soon moved back to Kansas.

He married Debbie Loudenback and her son, Jeremy. From their union they had a daughter, Tanda and a son, Toby. Doug was blessed with two very special grandchildren, Payton and Parker Barnes. He also had two wonderful young girls, Kenzington and Carrington Newton and their great-grandmother, Charlene Mumford to fill his days with joy.

Doug worked at various jobs before going to work at Eaton Hydraulics in Hutchinson. After 35 years of service, he retired. He loved his family and riding his Harley. Both brought him joy and laughter. Doug was a fan of all motorcycle rallies and he loved traveling to Sturgis, South Dakota. Riding freed his mind and soul.

He is survived by: daughter, Tanda Barnes (Michael Wages), Hutchinson; son, Toby Barnes, Abbyville; son, Jeremy Stauffacher, Hutchinson; sister, Julie Davenport (Ronnie), Wellston, Oklahoma; mother, Glenda Forbes, Hutchinson; significant other, Charlene Mumford, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Payton and Parker Barnes, Owen Stauffacher; nieces and nephews, Ashley Swindell, Lucas Davenport, and Jesse Davenport; and bonus grandchildren, Kenzington and Carrington Newton.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Barnes.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2021, at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Raymond Fredrick "Ray" Eilrich, 89, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 4:22 a.m., Tuesday, October 26th, 2021 peacefully at Angel Arms. Raymond was born in Ellsworth, Kansas on October 22, 1932, a son of Fred Eilrich and Wilhamina (Bohl) Eilrich. Ray attended the Ellsworth schools in Ellsworth, Kansas. He was a member of Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. Ray was a farmer, worked for the State of Kansas in the Department of Transportation Road Maintenance, and worked for Walmart as an Assembler. Ray enjoyed talking, telling stories, baking treats for his grandkids and spending time with his friends and family. Raymond was united in marriage to Wilma Ruth Lee on June 19, 1976 at Lorraine, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of a son Steven. She died on August 23, 2002. He is survived by his son, Son Steven Eilrich and his wife Tiffani Eilrich, of McPherson, Kansas; his siblings, Neita Brisco, of Lincon County, Kansas, and Marie Woodmanse, of Ellsworth, Kansas. He is also survived by his 2 grandchildren, Reanna Rose Eilrich and Hunter Ray Eirich, both of McPherson, Kansas and his special friend Rita VonFeldt. Evelyn Irene Burbank Leak passed from this life at the age of 101, on October 20, 2021, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She and her husband Charley were life-long residents of Pratt County, until they moved to Stillwater in 2013 to be close to their daughter, Barbara Brock. Her husband of 75 years, Charley G. Leak, preceded her in death, Evelyn was also preceded in death by her parents Ray and Alice Burbank, one brother, Roy Burbank and one sister, Lila Mae Burbank Smith. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Taylor and husband James of Leakey, Texas, and Barbara Brock and husband Pat of Stillwater, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Brian Taylor and wife Viki of San Antonio, Texas, Jeff Koeninger and wife Stephanie of Keller, Texas, and Jason Koeninger and wife Shannon of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Six great grandchildren, Amy Taylor of Dallas, Texas and Austin Taylor of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jake and Cole Koeninger of Keller, and Quentin and Violet Koeninger of Tulsa also survive her, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was born in Pratt on April 17, 1920, to Roy and Alice Harrell Burbank. She graduated from Pratt High School and worked at Penney’s Department Store in Pratt before and for a short time after her marriage to Charley on August 27, 1939. She was office manager and bookkeeper for Doskocil’s from 1957 to 1974. Following her work in town, Evelyn helped Charley with farming until he retired in 1998. They built a house and moved from the farm into Pratt in the spring of 1984. She was an active member of the Pratt Church of Christ, serving in many roles, including the Clothing Room and providing meals for funerals and the sick. Evelyn and Charley delivered “Meals on Wheels” for many years. She and Charley enjoyed traveling with their RV and spent many winters in South Texas. During her years at the Christian Villa in Stillwater, she was known for sending birthday cards, encouragement, and sympathy cards to the residents of the Villa and to the many friends she made at church. She always sent birthday cards to family members, including grandsons and spouses, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Church of Christ Pratt. Pastor John Hamm officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. There will be no Visitation.&nbsp;&nbsp;
