Avis Jo Mardis "Big A"  |1931-2022| 

Avis Jo Mardis "Big A", 90, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at her home. She was born on October 3, 1931 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Myrle and Josephine (Groves) Sipe. Avis married Richard L, Mardis on October 6, 1949 in Pratt. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2007.

Avis graduated from Pratt High School in 1949. She worked in the meat department at Dillon's for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pratt Pilot Club, Green Valley Ladies Golf Association, Sarah Guild, United Methodist Women, 66 year member of Beta Sigma Phi, Ladies Auxiliary of United Transportation Union and many bridge groups. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, bowling, softball and watching every sport. She was an avid Pratt Greenback, Beaver and 86ers fan.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Kimberly (Kenny) DeClue of Pratt, Tara Shirley of Kansas City, Cassie Mardis of Pratt, Joshua (Janelle) Gross of Medicine Lodge; great grandchildren, Gage (Hannah) Shirley, Tristen (fiancee', Ashton) Schwarzenberger, Bailee Farr, Breane (Matt) Thayne, Brooke Farr, Dani Farr, Tyler Gross, Gavin Gross and Rhyen Gross, Brittany (Ryan) Rector, Gunner DeClue, Bailey DeClue; great-great grandchildren, Taylee Farr, Tabor Shirley and Charlee Rector; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Avis is preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Mardis; parents; sons, Gordon Mardis and Danny Mardis; daughter, Patricia Weisshaar; sisters, Norma Kramer and Welletta Sipe; brother, Robert Sipe; and grandson, Brian Lee Mardis.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 20, 2022 at First United Methodist Church, Pratt with Reverend Nicole Schwartz-Eck presiding. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
