David Lee Sieg, 91, passed away April 20, 2022 at Good Samaritan in Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on October 6, 1930, in Hill City, to Earlstone and Viola ( Sweet) Sieg.&nbsp; 

David was a handy man of all sorts, he enjoyed fixing things and going on his walk and talks, which he always stopped to talk to his neighbors.&nbsp; David had a favorite radio station, KWBW, which he loved listening to daily.&nbsp; He was blind his entire life and was a part of PILR, Prairie Independent Living Resource Center, he also retired from Eaton Manufacturing.

David is survived by his son, Kevin Lee Sieg; daughter, Diane Marshall ( Dean); grandchildren, Daniel Marshall, Zach Sieg, and Alex Sieg; great grandchildren, Paul Sieg, Phillip Sieg, and Arthur Potecuk.

On April 16, 2022, John Edward Gumpenberger, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler.&nbsp; He was born in Washington, Missouri on March 23, 1944 to parents, Anthony and Edith Gumpenberger.

John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sharon ( Meyer) Gumpenberger; 4 children, Mark ( grandchildren Abby and Cory &amp; 4 great grandchildren), Thad ( grandchildren Myles, Mason and Maclane), Stephanie, and Steve ( wife, Belinda, grandchildren Riley and Kiran).&nbsp;&nbsp;

John is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Edith; five brothers, Ed, Jim, Dick, Bob, and Orville; one sister Lorraine ( Sis) Erikson.

He had several jobs in Hutchinson as a young man before working at Krause Corporation where he retired in 2006 after 40 years.&nbsp; After retiring from Krause Corporation, John joined Ark Valley roofing, where he worked another 8 years as a roof estimator; a job he very much enjoyed.

John was a member of the Moose Lodge #982 and Moose Legion #147.&nbsp; in 2014, he was awarded the " Moose of the Year".&nbsp; there were three things that John had a true passion for, playing acoustic guitar, camping, and boating for 30 years ( especially at Table Rock Lake), and cutting and splitting firewood.&nbsp; He was always active and doing something.&nbsp; There was nothing that he could not fix, build or do.&nbsp; John was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

The family will be hosing a luncheon and a time to remember John on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 12pm at the Moose Lodge, 1401 E. 1st Avenue, Hutchinson, Kansas 67501.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Michael Lee Koehn, 76, of McPherson, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022 at his home.&nbsp; He was born January 23, 1946 in McPherson, the son of Wilbur Allen and Luella (Koehn) Koehn.

Mike graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley with a master’s degree in industrial arts.

He was united in marriage to Greta Krehbiel on May 23, 1970 at Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge.

Mike worked as a supervisor for a welding shop and also did robotic work.&nbsp; He also taught industrial arts at Bethel College in Newton, Newton High School, and Eskridge High School in Eskridge.&nbsp; Mike worked as an occupational therapist at Prairie View in Newton.

He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, building houses and working with machinery on the farm.&nbsp; He loved cars and would loan his yellow sports car to his nieces for their daily drive to school.

Mike is survived by his wife, Greta Koehn of the home; brother, Randy Koehn and Mary Sypinski of Arlington, TX; sisters, Andrea (Roger) Fitzwater and Karen (Bill) Rostine, both of Springfield, MO; sister-in-law, Marilyn Koehn of Newton; brothers-in-law, Mark (Sherry) Krehbiel of Salina, and Ken (Cheri) Krehbiel of McPherson; and sister-in-law, Marcia Hiebert of McPherson.

JoAn H. (Knutson) Olson, formerly of Bottineau, ND passed away April 20, 2022, at Reeds Cove Health and Rehabilitation, Wichita.

She was born September 23, 1942, in Richardton, ND to parents, Walter and Erna (Rasch) Knutson of Halliday, ND. When JoAn was 5 years old, her family moved to McKenzie, ND. She received her education at McKenzie Grade School, and then Bismarck High School.

On November 26, 1960, she married Paul W. Olson of Bottineau, ND, where they farmed and raised their five children. In 1983, they sold their farm and bought the KOA Kampground in WaKeeney, where they enjoyed hosting campers for 4 1⁄2 years. They sold the campground and moved back to Bottineau, then to Bismarck, ND. Upon retirement, they moved to Stockton, KS.

JoAn was involved in several community organizations and activities in the Lutheran and Methodist churches she attended. She worked in numerous retail businesses and several secretarial positions. JoAn loved her family, enjoyed music, sewing, meeting and getting to know people, and enjoying God’s great outdoors.

She is greatly missed by:&nbsp; her three sons, Robert (Tammy) Olson of Bottineau, ND, Michael (Brenda) Olson of McGregor, ND, and Timothy (Patricia) Olson of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Kathleen (Kevin) Clark of Hutchinson; and Paulette (Mark) Wildeman of Ellis; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Jeff) Mattheyer, Kristin Friesen (Adam Taylor), Dylan (Tyler) Clark, Tylor Olson, Miranda (Caleb) Engeman, Hannah Wildeman, and Josh Olson; brother, Rodney (Deanne) Knutson of McKenzie, ND; sister-in-law, Barb Knutson of McKenzie, ND; brother-in-law, Donald (Inez) Olson of Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

home. He was born July 14, 2000, in Hutchinson, to Adam H. Spackman and Brandy S.
Sheahan.

Sebastain graduated from Hutchinson High School in 2018. He
worked in the warehouse at Yoder Meats in Yoder.

Sebastain liked spending time with his friends and family.
He enjoyed listening to music and singing, going to shows and watching live
performances. Sebastain liked being outside and loved having fires, swimming,
exploring, and shooting guns. A night owl, Sebastain played video games with
his friends who lived out of town. He also was very intelligent and
curious&nbsp;and liked to learn. Sebastain loved all of his fur babies so much,
they were always cuddling or playing or being teased. He took such good care of
them and Kat.

Marilyn enjoyed Crafts, making jackets and wreaths for family and friends. She attended the Methodist Church in Haviland and Pratt. Jimmy Wayne Slaughter, 71, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 10, 1950 in Moran, to James "Pete" Franklin and Bernice Lenore (Cornelsen) Slaughter. Jimmy married Opal Arlene (Kinney) Slaughter on December 26, 1970 at First Church of God, Pratt. They were married for 51 years. Jimmy graduated from Cedarvale High School. He worked at Pratt Well Service for many years and most recently for Advantek in Hutchinson. He enjoyed gambling, fishing, doing lawn care, attending auctions, traveling back to his hometown and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was jack of many trades. Jimmy Wayne Slaughter, 71, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 10, 1950 in Moran, to James "Pete" Franklin and Bernice Lenore (Cornelsen) Slaughter. Jimmy married Opal Arlene (Kinney) Slaughter on December 26, 1970 at First Church of God, Pratt. They were married for 51 years. Jimmy graduated from Cedarvale High School. He worked at Pratt Well Service for many years and most recently for Advantek in Hutchinson. He enjoyed gambling, fishing, doing lawn care, attending auctions, traveling back to his hometown and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was jack of many trades. Burnette, 98, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Leisure Homestead.&nbsp; She was born January 1, 1924, in St. John, the daughter of William and Anna (Schultz) Schmidt.&nbsp; She married Glenn Hawver on July 8, 1945 in Cunningham.&nbsp; Glenn died October 21, 1968.&nbsp; Ellen married Raymond Burnette on March 17, 1973.&nbsp; He died January 30, 1993.

Ellen graduated from Stafford High School in 1942 and moved to Wichita to be a Rosie the Riveter during WWII.&nbsp; In 2021, she received the Congressional Gold Medal that honored the women who joined the workforce during the war.

She retired from nursing at the Stafford Hospital in December 1992 after 20 years of service.

Survivors include her children: Lyle Hawver, Rex (Penny) Hawver and Glenda Hernandez; Grandchildren: Amy (Joe) Saum, Jeremy Hawver, Erin (Neal) Balfour, Travis (Kit) Hawver, Richard (Dalton) Hernandez and Seaton Hernandez. Great grandchildren: Christopher Saum, Madison Saum, Tylar Wertenberger, William Balfour, Layla Balfour, Morgan Hawver, Elliott Hernandez and Hensley Hernandez.

Twylah was born on February 17, 1938, in Goessel, to John and Susie (Buller) Schmidt. Twylah attended primary school at Summit School and then Burns High School in Burns. She was active in high school as a baton twirler with the band, home economics, and she enjoyed cheerleading as well. Her junior year she felt honored to be named the football queen. Twylah married Don Nightengale on September 20, 1955, at the First Mennonite Church of Burns. In September of 2015, they celebrated their 60th&nbsp;wedding anniversary.

Twylah loved music, and could play the piano beautifully by ear.&nbsp; Twylah was a very hard worker and was always involved in the daily operations of the family farm she helped run with her husband. She also drove school bus for the Cedar Point school district and worked for Autumn Manor Health Care in Florence for twenty-two years where she served as the Certified Food Service Supervisor.&nbsp;&nbsp; When she wasn’t hard at work, Twylah could be found playing cards, attending her daughters’ sporting events, and collecting Indian pottery and her beloved brown tea pots. She also loved going with Don and their girls to see an occasional Royals game. When the girls were grown, Twylah could often be found at sporting events for her grandchildren. Twylah loved to sew and made seven wedding dresses, including one for each daughter, along with at least forty plus dresses for the Florence Centennial. She also enjoyed trips to the Chicago area and Colorado Springs to see daughters Peggy and Carol.

Both church and family were extremely important to Twylah. At the age of 14 she was baptized into the Mennonite faith and accepted Jesus Christ into her heart. The love of Jesus and knowing him personally carried her through many turmoils during her lifetime. Twylah grew up with daily devotions read from the Bible by her father, and the whole family would gather to hear God’s word. Their family was tight knit, and all worked together on the family farm and taking care of each other. Twylah would carry on many of these traditions as she raised her three girls, whom she loved so deeply. The Schmidt/Nightengale family continues to hold their strong family connections with each other. Twylah left quite the legacy. Her family includes daughters, Peggy (Doug) Leitzen, Marengo, Il; Janet (Bud) Turner, Eureka; Carol Nightengale, Topeka; grandchildren Jeremy (Abby) Leitzen, Amanda (Alex) Pointer, Rusty (Jacqueline) Turner, Adam Turner, Luke (Angela) Turner, twenty-five great grandchildren, siblings, Julie (Leland) Stucky, Emmy Midkiff, John (Carol) Schmidt, Fern (Ron) Goodwin, Berneda (Rex) Jewell, Calvin (Dawna) Schmidt, Dennis (Sherry) Schmidt, brother-in-law, Jim Gehring, and many nieces and nephews.

At the age of 84, on Monday, April 18, 2022, Twylah passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Twylah is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior and reunited with her husband, Don, parents, John and Susie Schmidt, twin-sister, Beulah Gehring, brother-in-law Frank Midkiff, nephew, John Schrock, and great nephew, Deacon Claassen.

Ernest H. Ramey,&nbsp;66 years, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022. He was born in Wichita, to Ernest Lee Ramey and Helen Irene (Pool) Ramey. Ernie was raised in the Wichita, Kansas area.

Ernie acquired his love for racing and mechanics from his dad. Ernie was an exceptional mechanic on all types of automotive, motorcycles, trucks, mowers, and even trains, large or small motors he did them all. He and the family built the motors and race cars then you would find them at 81 Speedway on Saturdays or any event that was happening you would see Car 60. If the family wasn’t racing then you may find them on his platoon boat, camping and just having great times.&nbsp; His other deep love was his family.

He was preceded in death by his son Johnathan, parents Ernest and Helen, and sister Clara Diane.

Rodney graduated from high school in Topeka.&nbsp; He was very intelligent, despite his personal challenges.&nbsp; Since Rodney was a little boy, he aspired to be a biker, always wishing for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Rodney is survived by:&nbsp; his mom, Rita Rodman of Hutchinson; brother, Everett Hayes of Lansing; half-sisters, Tanya Baskin and Mandy Wilson of Wisconsin; and aunt and uncle, Eudella and Roy Fairchild.

Merlyn 'Royce' Beemer, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 15, 2022.&nbsp; He was born in Overbrook, Osage County, Kansas to Earl Lewis Beemer and Lois Miriam (Hesselbarth) Beemer.

Royce was raised on a farm where he acquired a great love for horses, cattle, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was a graduate of Americus High School, Americus, Kansas where he was involved in glee club, basketball, softball and more.&nbsp; After graduation he served&nbsp; from 1957 - 1961, and is a veteran of the United States Air Force.&nbsp; His career with Excel included many years of OTR Truck Driver hauling cattle, and then retired as Safety Director.&nbsp;

Another love of his was serving the Lord at Riverview Baptist Church.&nbsp; He enjoyed being available and used in any area that needed help, along with listening to Bible Verses in Awanas.&nbsp; His greatest love was his family, whom he enjoyed spending time with.

He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Lois Beemer, and brother Don Beemer.

He was a graduate of Americus High School, Americus, Kansas where he was involved in glee club, basketball, softball and more.&nbsp; After graduation he served&nbsp; from 1957 - 1961, and is a veteran of the United States Air Force.&nbsp; His career with Excel included many years of OTR Truck Driver hauling cattle, and then retired as Safety Director.&nbsp;Another love of his was serving the Lord at Riverview Baptist Church.&nbsp; He enjoyed being available and used in any area that needed help, along with listening to Bible Verses in Awanas.&nbsp; His greatest love was his family, whom he enjoyed spending time with.He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Lois Beemer, and brother Don Beemer.Royce is survived by his wife Beverly Beemer of the home; children Joann (Martin) Cisneros of Gypsum, Eddie Beemer of Bennington, Richard (Janet) Beemer of Bennington, Scott (Bernie) Beemer of Windom, Marliss (Dave) Owens of Haysville, Dave (Laura) Beemer of Wichita, Diane Carlton-Bartlett of Wichita, Wileena Beemer of Wichita; brother Bob Beemer; 21 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.Visitation 5-7 pm with&nbsp; Service&nbsp;6-6:30 pm on Friday, April 22 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel, 100 S. Bob Gilpin, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Grand Plains Skilled Nursing in Pratt. He was born August 10,1940, in Pratt, to Rex and June (Keller) Gilpin. He married Loree (Byers) Gilpin on April 23, 1961, in Hoisington. To this union was born three children: Marc Rex, Marla June, and Matthew Earle. They were married for 61 years. Bob graduated from high school in 1958, and from Pratt Community College in 1960, where he met the love of his life, Loree. Following their marriage, they moved to Wichita, where he attended Friends University, graduating with a B.A. in Biology and Chemistry. He then accepted a position at Valley Center High School, where he taught for three years before moving to Moscow, Idaho, to attend the University of Idaho, and earning a M.A. in Aquatic Entomology in 1969. The family returned to Wichita, where he resumed his teaching career at Valley Center High School for one year before accepting a position in the Wichita Public School System at West High School. After teaching at West High School for two years, he moved the family back to Moscow, Idaho, to once again attend the University of Idaho, earning his PhD in Aquatic Entomology in 1975. He was employed as a biology instructor at Moscow High School for four years before returning to Kansas to be closer to family in 1979. He taught chemistry and physics at Pratt High school from 1979 until retiring in 2000. During those years, he also taught chemistry classes at Pratt Community College and Adult Education Classes in Barber County, as well as being employed as a representative of Moorman’s Livestock Supplements, servicing the area farmers. He attended night classes at Northwestern Oklahoma State University earning an Administrative Degree in Secondary Education. Bob also served as a part-time pastor in many area churches, both in Idaho and Pratt, for 40 years. HIs ministry also included music, with guitar and singing. After his retirement in 2000 he and his sons opened a small business, hydro testing of oxygen cylinders, which he operated for several years. During those years, he also provided full time daycare during the summer for four of his grandchildren. At the same time he was a substitute teacher at Skyline and Pratt for all grades. He found real joy in being a part of the lives of children, and his life as a teacher touched many. He will be remembered for this love. Bob had numerous interests in life, including learning to pilot a plane, horseback riding, boating at the area lakes, exploring on his ATV and camping in the mountains of Colorado. He and Loree spent happy summers trail riding on horseback in the hills of Barber County with the Pratt Saddle Club. His favorite vacation spot was Cuchara, Colorado, where he enjoyed camping and hiking with his grandkids and other family members, and later exploring the mountain trails on his ATV with his family. Family time was very important to him. Bob is survived by his wife, Loree, two sons, Marc Gilpin of rural Pratt; Matthew (Emily) Gilpin of Pratt; and one daughter, Marla Stark of Derby; one sister, Debra (Charles) Ridgway, of Lake Wabunsee, six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Stark (Stetson) Broce, Austin Gilpin, Kasey Gilpin, Kamryn Stark, Beau Gilpin and Emma Gilpin. Larry D. Becker 82, died April 17, 2022 at Kidron Bethel Healthcare in North Newton, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born March 4, 1940 in Beaver, Oklahoma to Aldo and Mary Ann (Boese) Becker. On August 12, 1960 he married Patricia Jean Harms at Meade, and she preceded him in death on August 4, 2008.

He was a longtime active member of the First Mennonite Church in Newton. He could be found most Sundays, special events and funeral services in the audio visual booth.

Larry attended Bethel College in North Newton and worked a career in Information Technology.&nbsp; His passion for computers and audio visual continued throughout his career.&nbsp; He worked for Mennonite Church USA (General Conference) for 50 years.&nbsp; He also served as the North Newton City Treasurer for 30 years.&nbsp; After retirement, Larry served a term as a Kidron Bethel board member and provided I.T. support at Kidron.

Larry’s greatest joy was his family and he loved the times they spent together.

Larry is survived by children Bryan (Kathy) Becker of North Newton; Brenda (Scott) Moyar of Newton; and Bruce (Christina) Becker of Newberg, OR; grandchildren Alyssa Becker of Wichita; Wade Becker of Newberg, OR; Kyle Becker (Abby Anderson) Greeley, CO; and Aspen Becker of Newberg, OR; brothers, Bob (Donna) Becker, Newton and Randy Becker, Liberal.

Barbara Jean Root, 85, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away April 18, 2022, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born November 2, 1936, in Larned, the daughter of Kenneth and Maxine Givens Murray.

 Barbara has resided in Lyons since 1962, formerly of Larned. She graduated from Larned High School with the class of 1954 and graduated from Brown Mackie Business College in 1955. Barbara was a former payroll clerk for Ell-Kan of Ellsworth and proofreader and court reporter for the Lyons Daily News. She was a church elder and member of the First Christian Church, Lyons, president of the Christian Church Love Group; and member of the Quilters group at the First Christian Church. 

On January 15, 1955, Barbara was united in marriage with Simon Root in Larned. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her two sons, Kim Root and wife Barbara of Oregon; and Kyle Root and wife Karen of Lyons; two daughters, Kris Laymon and husband Sam of Sterling; and Kyra Newkirk of Overland Park; three sisters, Beverly Cornelison of Larned; Bonnie Russell and husband Clinton of Belpre; and Betty Gardner of Hoisington; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary Murray; and grandson, Travis Root.

Greta Snell was born on the Epp Family Farm, northeast of Burrton, Kansas on July 6, 1938. She left this earth for heaven on Good Friday morning, April 15, 2022.

Greta loved learning and serving. She was gifted at both. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class at Central Christian High School. She was awarded a three-year nursing scholarship by the American Cancer Society. She completed training to become a Registered Nurse at Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing. She earned a B.S. at Grace Bible Institute, a year later.

In 1962, she began her thirty-eight-year career as an instructor at Grace Hospital School of Nursing where her potential was quickly evident. She was promoted to Director of Education for the newly formed Hutchinson Hospital Corp. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Wichita State University while holding her new position.

One of Greta’s nursing students introduced Greta to her future husband, Glen Snell. After her marriage to Glen, they lived on the farm near Kingman.

Greta was a devout follower of Jesus Christ having been baptized in the Christian faith as a young teen at Burrton Mennonite Church. Her nursing career was a manifestation of her Christian faith. Most of her adult life she was an active member of the Methodist Church where among other positions, she served as a training leader for Stephens Ministry. She also served on the board and as a tireless volunteer at the Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie.

Greta was predeceased by her parents Eva Dorothea (Pankratz) Epp and Cornelius F. Epp and her husband, Glen. She was also predeceased by her brother James, brother Leon, sister-in-law Kathy and nephew Justin.

She is survived by brother Carl and wife Jean, brother Gary and wife Janet, sister SuZan Klassen and husband Rodney, and sister-in-law Carol. In addition, Greta is survived by many loving cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Doug graduated from Hutchinson High School and was in the
Army National Guard where he received his engineering degree.&nbsp; In 1988, he met Mary Chinn where they both
worked in security for Krause Manufacturing.&nbsp;
They spent 33 years together.&nbsp; He also
worked for Grede Foundries and was a salesman for Rose Motor. Doug and Mary
also owned Affordable Rentals in Hutchinson. &nbsp;He enjoyed collecting old cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant
brother, Rudy; two daughters, Lisa Wolf and Toni&nbsp; Cox.

Survivors include his significant other, Mary Chinn; five
children, Marcia McGan, Douglas Schissler Jr.,
John Schissler, Darrin (Casie) Schissler, and Michelle Topliff; nine
grandchildren, Amanda Schissler, Danielle McGan, Nicholas, Zachary, Brooklyn
and Landry Schissler, Hannah Pavelka, Fayeth Dahl and Kallie Patterson; and six
great grandchildren.

Douglas D. Schissler  |1939-2022|

Richard was born to Luther Doyle Bell and Wanda Eloise (Cannady) Bell in Hutchinson.

Richard attended Grandview School and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1979.

While in High School, he was involved in and enjoyed Deca, while also being involved in Sing out Reno County, and Sky riders. In his after high school years, he worked for Dillons in Great Bend, and was also a disc jockey at weddings and other celebrations. Rick loved to brag about his designing skills and displays he would create while working at Dillons. Rick also was involved in racecar driving, and would race on Friday and Saturday nights at Fun Valley/Hutchinson Raceway Park. While racing, he did receive many trophies. Oh, the videos I had to watch, over and over, and over.&nbsp; Rick loved bowling and RC cars and even opened his own RC track in Hutchinson, Hutchinson High Banks, for all to enjoy while hosting racing events each weekend. Rick traveled to many places to race those little cars. He was very competitive. While doing all of these things, he also had a concession trailer that he enjoyed. It was here that Rick created the famous Tornado Burger. He had a special recipe that everyone loved and would come out just to eat. If you did not get a Tornado Burger, you may have missed out on the best Sloppy Joe in the country. Oh, how Rick loved to cook and create his own “special” recipe, creating many hot, spicy dishes enjoyed by all.

Rick was very active in playing softball for many years and on any given weekend, he would be out there playing. Rick was an avid fisherman and on the nice days he could be found at Cheney catching the fish. Even when very ill, he was able to get the boat and grab a friend to take and enjoy a long day of fishing. If Rick wasn’t talking about fishing, or eating fish, he was fishing. There were very few other topics.

Rick opened his own appliance business, Bell’s Appliance that he had for over 35 years. During this adventure, he made many friends and left his footprints on the heart of many. There wasn’t much that Rick could not fix. He loved finding a problem and getting it fixed.

Rick did not know a stranger and enjoyed a very full social life with many friends, family, and acquaintances.

Rick attended the Eastwood Church of Christ and was a very active member until becoming quite ill in recent past. Rick adored his church family and often had many of them over for cards each weekend and even during the week when he was no longer able to go to the Friday night card event that he hosted.

In 1984 Rick married Janet and they had 2 children together, making a family of 6 as Ryan and Mandi joined Jason and Aaron.

In 2007 Rick married Candy and 2 more children were also added to the family. James and Amber.

Rick enjoyed life to the fullest and did not let any grass grow under his feet.

Rick leaves behind many that loved him including his wife, Candy; Brother, Terry Bell (Annette) Hutchinson; son, Ryan Bell, Hutchinson; daughter, Mandi Bell, Wichita; one granddaughter, Kynzi; 4 stepchildren, Aaron Matteson, and Jason Matteson (Alyssa) of Fort Collins, Colorado; James Manges (Ashley), and Amber Allbright, Hutchinson; 5 Step grandchildren, Kade, Charlie, Payton, Jaclyn, and Gabbi, and ex-wife and friend, Janet Bell. Rick also leaves his beloved Aunt, Diane Bell, of Wichita; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and beloved dog, Chance; and many close friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents; and his much loved, Uncle David Bell; as well as numerous aunts and uncles; and cousins, Kenny Bell and Scott Graham.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Eastwood Church of Christ, with Wayne DeWindt and Steve Sears presiding. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 1-8 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m.-8 p.m., with family to receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. A small meal will be at Eastwood Church of Christ immediately following the funeral service for those that would like to attend.

Rick enjoyed Nascar racing shirts, fishing shirts, team shirts (Kansas City Chiefs), but he also liked a fancy dress up occasion on Sundays. Please feel free to dress casual or fancy. He would have wanted everyone comfortable in what they like best.

Born June 8, 1960Entered Heaven’s Gate on April 16, 2022.Richard was born to Luther Doyle Bell and Wanda Eloise (Cannady) Bell in Hutchinson.Richard attended Grandview School and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1979.While in High School, he was involved in and enjoyed Deca, while also being involved in Sing out Reno County, and Sky riders. In his after high school years, he worked for Dillons in Great Bend, and was also a disc jockey at weddings and other celebrations. Rick loved to brag about his designing skills and displays he would create while working at Dillons. Rick also was involved in racecar driving, and would race on Friday and Saturday nights at Fun Valley/Hutchinson Raceway Park. While racing, he did receive many trophies. Oh, the videos I had to watch, over and over, and over.&nbsp; Rick loved bowling and RC cars and even opened his own RC track in Hutchinson, Hutchinson High Banks, for all to enjoy while hosting racing events each weekend. Rick traveled to many places to race those little cars. He was very competitive. While doing all of these things, he also had a concession trailer that he enjoyed. It was here that Rick created the famous Tornado Burger. He had a special recipe that everyone loved and would come out just to eat. If you did not get a Tornado Burger, you may have missed out on the best Sloppy Joe in the country. Oh, how Rick loved to cook and create his own “special” recipe, creating many hot, spicy dishes enjoyed by all.Rick was very active in playing softball for many years and on any given weekend, he would be out there playing. Rick was an avid fisherman and on the nice days he could be found at Cheney catching the fish. David William Griffin, 58, died suddenly April 16, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; He was born October 6, 1963, in Hutchinson, to John William and Janice (Ayers) Griffin.

David graduated from Nickerson High School in 1982.&nbsp; He was a farmer/stockman, and owned Griffin Seed House with his father.&nbsp; David enjoyed farming, stock car racing, barn parties, and he had a gift for mentoring individuals, both young and old.&nbsp; David cherished the times spent with his “grand-girls”.

On April 30, 1983, he married Darla Renee Green, in Nickerson. She died May 16, 1990, along with their son, Russell William Griffin.&nbsp; On October 6, 2018, he married his former high school classmate, Rebecca Bayless, at their farm home, rural Nickerson.&nbsp;

David is survived by:&nbsp; wife, Rebecca Griffin; father, John Griffin (Gina Glenn), all of Nickerson; mother, Janice “Jan” Griffin Piatt; sister, Jennifer Griffin Rueschhoff (Jason), all of Blue Springs, MO; stepchildren, Mike Webster (Cynthia) of Pottsville, AR; and Chelsey Chandler (Trevor) of Russellville, AR; his “grand-girls”, Paisley Chandler, Brylee Chandler, Mattie Webster, and Macie Webster; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
