The Hutchinson Public Schools Board of Education approved the 2026-27 school calendar at Monday night's Board of Education meeting.&nbsp;

The committee, made up of Hutchinson NEA members, board-appointed representatives and three parents, met twice this year to develop the calendar. More than 1,200 parents, staff and community members responded to a district survey that helped guide decisions.

Among the key decisions, Fair Day on Monday, Sept. 14, will be a no-school day. Staff will return from winter break on Jan. 4 for a half day of professional development and half day of teacher work time, with students returning Jan. 5. Committee members said the schedule allows the district to finish the school year as early as possible in May while meeting the required 186 contract days.

The committee also discussed the possibility of taking the entire week off at Thanksgiving but opted not to make that change after limited survey support. The idea may be included in next year’s survey for further feedback.

Board members unanimously approved the calendar on a 6-0 vote.

The Dillon Lecture Series is back for the 2026 school year at Hutchinson Community College, continuing a tradition that has brought nationally recognized speakers — along with notable Kansas voices — to Hutchinson for more than four decades.

Now entering its 45th year, the lecture series will kick off Tuesday afternoon with longtime Wichita broadcaster Larry Hatteberg. Many in south-central Kansas recognize Hatteberg from his decades of storytelling at KAKE-TV, where his “Hatteberg’s People” segments highlighted thousands of personal stories from across the region.

Denny Stoecklein the Director of Marketing and Public Relations said the Dillon Lecture Series began back in 1982 as a way to provide educational opportunities not only for Hutchinson Community College students, but for the broader community as well. Since then, the program has hosted nearly 200 speakers from across the country and around the world.

This year’s opening lecture will feature a couple of changes from past events. Tuesday’s presentation will take place at 2 p.m. — rather than the traditional morning time slot — inside the recital hall at the Stringer Fine Arts Center. Doors will open at 1:15 p.m.

Stoecklein said the lecture series is financially independent, relying on sponsorships, memberships and ticket sales to bring speakers to Hutchinson each year, while still offering an accessible opportunity for residents, students and area school groups to hear from influential voices.

Additional speakers scheduled for the 2026 season include Taryn Southern in April and Liz Murray in October.

Advance tickets are available online through the Hutchinson Community College website, or attendees may purchase admission at the door prior to Tuesday’s lecture.

Hatteberg to kick off 2026 Dillon Lecture Series

HUTCHINSON, Kan.&nbsp;— Giselle Rodriguez, a senior at Hutchinson High School, was surprised this week with a full-ride Rudd Scholarship during a special presentation that left her overwhelmed with joy.

Counselors invited Rodriguez to the office under the pretense of signing a scholarship application. Instead, she walked into a room filled with coaches, teachers, administrators, her best friend and members of the Rudd Foundation team — all gathered to celebrate her achievement. The moment culminated with the presentation of a ceremonial check and the life-changing scholarship announcement.

Rodriguez has distinguished herself at Hutchinson High School by balancing rigorous academics, athletics and employment. A member of the National Honor Society, she upholds the organization’s values of scholarship, service, leadership and character. A varsity soccer player, Rodriguez is enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme in health sciences. She also serves as president of HOSA–Future Health Professionals and participates in Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

The IB Career-related Programme combines a rigorous academic framework with career-focused learning, allowing students to align coursework with their professional interests while gaining practical skills, industry certifications and real-world experience. Hutchinson High School offers 22 career pathways, including health sciences, engineering, business management and entrepreneurship, marketing, government and public administration, programming and software development, and family and consumer sciences.

The Rudd Scholarship is a comprehensive, full-ride, four-year award recognizing grit, determination and strong work ethic. The scholarship covers tuition, room and board, books, supplies and other college expenses. Scholars also receive mentoring, professional development, networking opportunities and individualized support throughout their college careers.

“Receiving this scholarship opens many doors for me. This opportunity will allow me to pursue higher education alongside other students with similar goals, values and drive,” Rodriguez said. “Not only have I been awarded a scholarship, but I now have the privilege to navigate my academic journey with the help and support of an amazing cohort and mentors. I couldn’t be more excited to gain the knowledge and experience I need to serve others and contribute to my community.”

The program boasts a 100% four-year graduation rate among retained scholars, with 60% of recipients being first-generation college students. Since its inception, the Rudd Foundation has awarded more than 200 scholarships, investing over $10 million in Kansas students.

Rodriguez was initially hesitant to apply because of the scholarship’s competitive and prestigious nature. The application window runs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 1. Out of more than 700 applicants in 2025, only 50 scholarships were awarded. Eligibility requirements include a minimum 3.0 GPA, ACT or SAT submission, Kansas residency and demonstrated financial need. The application process includes letters of recommendation, essays and a final-round interview.

Rodriguez credits her IB teachers and counselors with encouraging her to apply, and her personal and professional skills teacher, Kelli Lusk, with helping her prepare for the interview process.

“I would tell other students that there’s nothing to lose by applying, so just do it,” Rodriguez said. “The process can help anyone grow and gain experience. It is important to learn how to advocate for yourself and take a moment to reflect on your goals.”

She plans to attend Fort Hays State University to pursue a degree in nursing. In December, Rodriguez was pinned as a certified nursing assistant after completing the CNA program at Hutchinson High School. She credits her instructor, Addie Ehling, RN, medical science teacher and HOSA advisor, with inspiring her to enter the nursing field.

“Giselle is an excellent student whose work ethic and positive attitude set a strong example for others,” Ehling said. “She is an active member of our medical science program and approaches challenges with confidence. It has truly been an honor to have her serve as our HOSA Future Health Professionals chapter president. She consistently demonstrates leadership, dedication and a passion for helping others. I am excited to see the positive impact she will have on the health care field in the years to come.”

Rodriguez said balancing a rigorous course load with athletics and extracurricular activities was challenging but rewarding. She credits her family for their unwavering support and recognizes that the scholarship is life-changing not only for her but for them as well. Rodriguez is the daughter of Salvador and Berenice Rodriguez.

“To my family, this news was the biggest blessing. Both of my parents are immensely proud and overjoyed on my behalf, as this moment is also a culmination of their hard work and sacrifices throughout the years,” Rodriguez said. “I owe my work ethic and determination to them. They have always instilled in me the importance of giving my full effort in anything I do. Throughout my senior year, my objective of making my family proud has persisted, and today I was able to fulfill that pursuit.”

After receiving the surprise news, Rodriguez called her parents, sharing tearful excitement as they celebrated together over the phone — a moment that reflected years of hard work, perseverance and determination.

Hutchinson Public Schools is now accepting nominations for its 2026 Certified and Classified Employee of the Year awards, recognizing staff members who have made a meaningful impact on students across the district.

Director of Communication, Stacy Goss said nominations are open through the end of February and may be submitted online by parents, students or community members. Nominees for the certified category include teachers, social workers and special education staff, while classified nominees may include paraeducators, secretaries, custodians and other support personnel.

Award recipients will be selected following a review and interview process and formally recognized during the district’s annual convocation in August.

In addition to the district awards, nominations are also being accepted for teacher recognition through the James A. and Julia L. Davis Foundation, which provides cash awards for selected teachers at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Those honorees will also be recognized at the August convocation event.

The IB program allows students to pursue advanced coursework through three pathways: individual course enrollment, the Career-related Programme or the Diploma Programme. Students in the Career-related Programme complete a career and technical education pathway alongside IB coursework, community service and a reflective project. Diploma Programme students complete six IB courses, an extended essay and additional service requirements.

Participation in IB coursework may allow students to earn college credit depending on assessment scores and institutional policies. Completion of full IB pathways can also open opportunities for scholarship consideration at postsecondary institutions.

District officials recommend students begin planning for IB participation as early as their freshman or sophomore year to ensure they meet prerequisite requirements, including foreign language coursework for Diploma Programme candidates.

Enrollment for the upcoming school year recently concluded, and parents are encouraged to review student course selections through the district’s online planning platform or contact high school counselors for additional information about IB pathways or scheduling adjustments.

Hutchinson High School is among a limited number of Kansas schools offering IB programming and is currently the only location west of Wichita providing the full range of IB pathway options, according to district staff.

USD 308 opens nominations for employee awards

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) — Officials with Hutchinson Public Schools say the district is continuing to focus on staff recruitment and early childhood education expansion as it prepares to open a new child care facility this spring.

District administrators provided updates this week on hiring needs, academic planning and construction progress on a new child care center located on the Morgan Elementary School campus.

Deputy Superintendent Dr. Crystal Young said the district is actively recruiting educators ahead of the next academic year, with a particular emphasis on elementary teaching positions.

“We are looking for quality and elite educators to join our team,” Young said. “We have a focus on quality instruction as well as improving our academic achievement and culture of the district as a whole.”

District officials said current retirement projections among staff are lower than typical for this time of year, which they attribute in part to retention efforts that include staff feedback initiatives such as stay and exit interviews.

Young said those interviews have consistently pointed to building leadership and workplace culture as key factors influencing educators’ decisions to remain in the profession.

Meanwhile, the district is preparing to expand early childhood services through a new child care center expected to open in April. The facility will double classroom capacity from four rooms at the current site to eight classrooms at the new location.

Unlike previous district-operated programs, the new center will operate year-round and remain open until 5:30 p.m., serving both district staff and the broader Hutchinson community.

Applications are currently being accepted for preschool, child care and home-based services. Some programs are funded through Head Start and Early Head Start, which require income verification during the application process.

District officials said installation of a playground — required for state licensure — is scheduled for March, pending weather conditions. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility is planned for April 3.

Administrators also noted that preschool programming plays a key role in the district’s strategic plan for improving kindergarten readiness. Officials said updated early learning curriculum adopted last year has already produced measurable academic gains in pre-kindergarten classrooms.

In addition to early childhood initiatives, the district continues work under the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation, or KESA, framework. Officials said the district has met its strategic goals within approximately 18 months of implementation and is entering its third year of accreditation.

As part of the next phase, administrators plan to more closely align instructional practices with measurable student outcomes while continuing to emphasize professional learning for staff.

USD 308 expands hiring efforts, prepares for new childcare center opening

 Families seeking early childhood services will have an opportunity to apply in person next week during the Little Hawks Application Clinic in Hutchinson.

The clinic is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 23, and is designed to help families enroll in preschool, child care or home-based services through the Little Hawks early childhood program.

District officials say walk-ins are welcome, but families are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance to reduce wait times. Appointments can be made by calling 620-615-5784.

Applicants must bring required documentation, including proof of birth for the child — such as a state-issued birth certificate. For prenatal applicants, a sonogram or a letter from a doctor is acceptable.

Families must also provide proof of household income. Acceptable documents include a 2025 W-2 form, a 2025 income tax return, the three most recent pay stubs or a SNAP approval letter.

In addition, parents or guardians must present proof of address, such as a piece of mail showing their name and current address.

Program officials say the clinic is intended to streamline the enrollment process and ensure eligible families can access early childhood education and support services.

The final clinic this spring is set for the Lincoln Center at 315 East Bigger on March 30. The clinic will run from 3 to 7 p.m.

 </figure> Families seeking early childhood services will have an opportunity to apply in person next week during the Little Hawks Application Clinic in Hutchinson.The clinic is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 23, and is designed to help families enroll in preschool, child care or home-based services through the Little Hawks early childhood program.District officials say walk-ins are welcome, but families are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance to reduce wait times. Appointments can be made by calling 620-615-5784.Applicants must bring required documentation, including proof of birth for the child — such as a state-issued birth certificate. For prenatal applicants, a sonogram or a letter from a doctor is acceptable.Families must also provide proof of household income. Acceptable documents include a 2025 W-2 form, a 2025 income tax return, the three most recent pay stubs or a SNAP approval letter.In addition, parents or guardians must present proof of address, such as a piece of mail showing their name and current address.Program officials say the clinic is intended to streamline the enrollment process and ensure eligible families can access early childhood education and support services.For more information or to schedule an appointment, families may call 620-615-5784.&nbsp;The final clinic this spring is set for the Lincoln Center at 315 East Bigger on March 30. Inman senior receives Rudd Foundation scholarship

The Dillon Lecture Series (DLS) is proud to announce its first speaker of the 2026 season: legendary award-winning Kansas journalist, Larry Hatteberg.

During a 51-year career centered on telling people’s stories, Hatteberg became a defining voice in Kansas local television. His “Hatteberg’s People” series remains the longest-running television feature in the state’s history, profiling nearly 2,000 Kansans and taking him to 17 foreign countries. A former prime-time anchor and executive news director for KAKE-TV, Hatteberg is also a nationally recognized teacher of photojournalism who has consulted for over 40 stations across the country and the U.S. Department of Defense.

During his lecture, Hatteberg will share insights from his half-century of storytelling — finding the extraordinary in "ordinary" people and illuminating the human spirit through the lens of a camera.

Patrons and attendees should take special note of a change to the traditional schedule for this event. Unlike most Dillon Lectures, which are held in the morning at the Sports Arena, Hatteberg will speak at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, at the Stringer Fine Arts Center on the Hutchinson Community College campus.

Inman senior receives Rudd Foundation Scholarship 

STERLING, Kan. (AP) — The Sterling College Symphonic Band will take the stage Sunday afternoon for a concert featuring music by three celebrated composers, joined by guest performers from the Wichita Choral Society.

The performance will highlight works by Gustav Holst, John Rutter and Leonard Bernstein, including Holst’s “Mars” and “Jupiter” from “The Planets,” Rutter’s “Gloria,” and selections from Bernstein’s “Mass.”

Members of the Wichita Choral Society will collaborate with the Sterling College Band for the program. Guest vocalists Katelyn Mattson and Sean Foster will perform with the combined ensemble on Bernstein’s “Mass.”

The concert also will feature harpist Camden Hyder and organist Alejandro Avila.

The performance is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, in Culbertson Auditorium on the Sterling College campus. The concert will be livestreamed on the SCMusic Facebook page.

Kansas State University's&nbsp;<a href="https://www.k-state.edu/ag-innovation/facilities/global-center-grain-food-innovation/">Global Center for Grain and Food Innovation</a>&nbsp;will be renamed the Western Star Global Grain and Food Center in honor of J.J. Vanier by the next generation of families, following approval from the Kansas Board of Regents at its Feb. 11 meeting.

The name is a nod to the Western Star Mill, which began as a struggling flour mill purchased by J.J. Vanier in 1925. After Joe and Joyce Vanier Hale married in 1951, Joe joined the Vanier family business, Western Star Mill Co., as vice president. Archer Daniels Midland acquired Western Star in the early ’70s, and Joe was named president of ADM Milling not long after. He became company chairman in 1989 and retired in 1996, but not before transforming ADM into a global leader in the flour and grain milling industry.

The families have built expansive agricultural and business enterprises. They are known not only for innovation in their business endeavors but also for their generosity.

"Today, we celebrate a legacy that not only shaped global agriculture but also continues to energize our land-grant mission of innovation and impact," said K-State President Richard Linton. "Renaming the Global Center for Grain and Food Innovation to the Western Star Global Grain and Food Center honors the visionary leadership of the Vanier and Hale families. Field maintenance is one of Kansas agriculture's most constant needs, and a new professional training through&nbsp;<a href="http://salina.ksu.edu/">Kansas State University Salina</a>&nbsp;— the premier drone educator in the region — will help agricultural producers learn how to use drones to protect plants, manage weeds and pests and boost yields.

With K-State Salina's new professional training on aerial applications and regulations with uncrewed aircraft systems, or UAS, farmers can acquire skills that will save them both time and money in their agricultural operations.

The campus is providing two options —&nbsp;<a href="https://reg.learningstream.com/view/cal4a.aspx?ek=&amp;ref=&amp;aa=&amp;sid1=&amp;sid2=&amp;as=38&amp;wp=378&amp;tz=&amp;ms=&amp;nav=&amp;cc=&amp;cat1=&amp;cat2=&amp;cat3=&amp;aid=KSU-S&amp;rf=&amp;pn=">March 9-10 or May 28-29</a>&nbsp;— for the two-day training.

As a part of the training, attendees will gain hands-on experience in everything from drone setup and maintenance to the preflight inspection process and compass and flowmeter calibration. Also included will be instruction from K-State Salina’s expert drone educators in mastering both manual and automated spray missions using multiple spray types, which equips users with the skills to excel in precision agriculture and aerial spraying operations.

Hunter Allison, a K-State Salina UAS flight instructor pilot who will be instructing the Aerial Applications and Regulations course, said the course will teach drone operators how to confidently plan and execute legally compliant aerial application operations while ensuring personal and aircraft safety.

"Not everybody can say that they spray with these ag drones or even drones in general," Allison said. "This course will instruct users to operate larger drones—some up to 400 pounds, if not bigger as the industry goes that direction. But you will be learning about the regulatory environment, going through the step-by-step process, as well as flying one of these drones as well."

Attendees are strongly encouraged to have a Remote Pilot Certificate or have completed the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.salina.k-state.edu/professional-education/uncrewed-training/part-107/">sUAS Commercial Remote Pilot Training program</a>&nbsp;through K-State Salina before enrolling. K-Salina to offer drone training for AG producers

Hutchinson Public Schools is accepting nominations for its 2025–26 Classified Employee of the Year, Certified Employee of the Year and the Davis Foundation Educator of the Year awards.

District officials said Salthawk staff play a critical role in the success of the school system, carrying out daily operations, educating students and providing a supportive learning environment. The awards are intended to recognize employees whose skills, dedication and commitment support the district’s mission of educating and empowering every student for life.

Certified staff eligible for nomination include teachers, social workers, special education teachers, nurses and other licensed professionals. Classified staff include secretaries, para-educators, custodians, nurses and other support personnel.

Anyone may submit nominations for the Classified Employee of the Year and Certified Employee of the Year awards, including staff members, students, parents and community partners. The Certified Employee of the Year honor is separate from the Davis Teacher of the Year and the Kansas State Department of Education’s Kansas Teacher of the Year awards.

In addition, the district is seeking nominations for the James A. and Juliet L. Davis Foundation Educator of the Year award. This honor is open to outstanding classroom teachers currently serving in Hutchinson Public Schools. Administrators and non-teaching personnel are not eligible. Past recipients may not be nominated for five years following their selection.

The Davis Foundation selection process includes a review of nominations by a committee designated by the foundation’s trustees. Finalists will be interviewed, and winners will be announced at the district’s opening convocation in August 2026. Each selected teacher will receive a $4,000 cash award.

The Davis Foundation awards are organized by teaching level — elementary, middle school and high school — to ensure recognition across all grade levels.

All nominations are due by Friday, Feb. 27, 2026. The names of nominators will remain confidential.

The USD 308 Board of Education received an update Monday night on the district’s Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) work, with Dr. Krystal Young crediting Director of Curriculum Lisa Yantes for leading the effort and reporting the district met its six-month and one-year strategic plan goals.

Yantes told the board KESA is now a yearly process and that USD 308 is in year two of the state’s newer accreditation model. She said the district remains in compliance with required measures and has been implementing its action plan tied to math and English language arts outcomes, graduation rate and postsecondary success. Yantes said the state has set a graduation-rate standard, but is still finalizing assessment and postsecondary metrics expected this spring; USD 308 will submit its updated plan by March 16, with accreditation feedback anticipated in early April.

Yantes also noted collaboration with “like systems” assigned by the state—Pittsburg, Kansas City Turner and Leavenworth—helped districts compare challenges, strategies and data trends, including academics and staffing.

Isaac Miller has received the St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Award for Outstanding New Teacher in the Diocese of Wichita, an honor presented during Catholic Schools Week to celebrate excellence among early-career educators.

Now in his second year at Trinity Catholic, Miller teaches English at both the junior high and high school levels. In addition to his classroom responsibilities, he also serves as a coach for football, track, and forensics, giving students opportunities to grow both academically and through extracurricular activities.

High school students and their families are invited to experience life at Sterling College firsthand during Sterling College Snapshot Day, a campus preview event scheduled for Monday, February 16, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The free event will take place on the Sterling College campus, with check-in starting in Cooper Hall, the college’s historic “Old Main.”

Snapshot Day is designed to give prospective students and their families an up-close look at what it’s like to be a Sterling College student. The day will include a guided campus tour, opportunities to meet with professors, coaches, directors, and current students, and lunch in the campus dining hall, known as the “Caf.” There is no charge to attend.

High school students interested in law enforcement will have the opportunity this summer to see what law enforcement training and careers are like through the Cadet Law Enforcement Academy program. The Cadet Law program is hosted by the Patrol and sponsored by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. Cadet Law will be held from June 1 to 6, 2026.

Cadet Law gives young men and women the opportunity to learn about the duties, training, and discipline that go along with a career in law enforcement. Students will learn a great deal about leadership, and about coming together as a team.

“KHP&nbsp;has a great relationship with the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. By working together, this program gives us the opportunity to help high school students understand and appreciate the law enforcement field. While at the Kansas Highway Patrol Training Academy, they will have the opportunity to experience some of the training that law enforcement officers receive,” said Captain Candice Breshears.

Students at Cadet Law are instructed by&nbsp;KHP&nbsp;Troopers who will help develop and encourage the students, mentoring them throughout the week of Cadet Law.

Cadet Law participants will experience classroom instruction, and the real-world activities of a Trooper. Cadets will go to the firearms range and practice pursuit driving at the driving range. They will have the opportunity to ride with the Patrol’s pilots in agency aircraft and see presentations from the Patrol’s canine handlers. Physical training and attention to detail are both emphasized throughout the duration of the program.

To be eligible to attend Cadet Law, students must be a high school student entering their Senior year or a student that has just graduated.&nbsp; They must also have a “C+” academic average and be deemed medically fit to participate in all activities. Students will need to fill out an application to attend, including writing a brief essay on why they would like to participate in the program. 

Applications are due by April 15, 2026. There is a $50 application fee for the cadet. A Local American Legion Post or American Legion Auxiliary Post provides the $300 sponsorship fee for the student. Lodging, food, and uniform are provided for the week. ANDALE, Kan. — The Renwick USD 267 Board of Education has selected Lacee Sell as the district’s next superintendent, choosing the current assistant superintendent to lead the schools beginning July 1, 2026.

Sell brings extensive experience in educational leadership at both the district and superintendent levels. In Renwick, she has worked closely with teachers, administrators, families and community partners in her role as assistant superintendent, focusing on collaboration, alignment and long-term planning.

Prior to coming to Renwick, Sell served as a System Alignment and Collaboration Specialist with Kansas MTSS and Alignment, associate superintendent with Geary County Schools USD 475, and executive director of teaching and learning with Manhattan-Ogden USD 383. She also previously served as superintendent for Chapman USD 473 for five years and led the Clinton County R-III School District in Plattsburg, Missouri, for three years.

Board President Mark McFadden said the board is confident Sell is the right fit to guide the district forward.

“The Board is certain in our choice of Mrs. Lacee Sell and confident that, under her leadership, Renwick will continue to be recognized as an exceptionally strong school district for academics as well as extracurricular activities,” McFadden said. “We believe Lacee will be an excellent steward for Renwick moving forward.”

Renwick’s stated vision is to develop all students into contributing members of society, emphasizing a strong work ethic and a supportive learning environment. Board members said maintaining that culture — and the people who create it — was central to their decision.

Lacee Snell named next superintendent of Renwick School District

Kelsy Sproul, a graduate teaching assistant for the K-State College of Education's Rural Education Center, has built her entire educational path online — graduating with her Bachelor of Science in elementary education in 2024 and working toward her Master of Science in curriculum and instruction, which she's anticipated to graduate with in the fall of 2026. As a first-generation, non-traditional college student, Sproul says that her worries surrounding finding support quickly subsided after starting her K-State journey.

"I was nervous about not receiving the level of mentorship that in-person classes offer. I had taken a few courses online through other institutions, and while the courses were very flexible, they weren't very personal," Sproul said.

Ranking alongside institutions such as North Carolina State, Pennsylvania State – World Campus, the University of Alabama and Purdue University, K-State posted gains across several categories, including Best Online Bachelor's Programs, which climbed 28 spots from 2025.

The university's online programs were recognized for academic quality, student support and program accessibility, earning nine repeat rankings and one first-time recognition.

 </figure>Daniel Akina, a spring 2026 Master of Business Administration candidate and regional vice president of sales at Heartflow, Inc., says the program's structure has made pursuing his degree sustainable, letting him stay engaged at work and at home while developing his leadership and strategic perspective."For years, my biggest concern was balancing work, family and school, which is why I had never pursued an MBA,” Akina said. “In hindsight, I should have enrolled at K-State years ago. My program has strengthened my strategic perspective, sharpened my financial and operational thinking, and provided tools I can apply immediately at work.
