HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Human Relations Commission presents This is Not Dixie, Racist Violence in Kansas, 1890-1920, a virtual conversation with author Brent Campney on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

In his book, Campney eliminates the notion of the Midwest as a so-called "land of freedom" with an in-depth study of assaults faced by African Americans in post–Civil War Kansas.

People interested in attending can register for the event by clicking this link. You will receive and email with the Zoom meeting link before the event.

This event is made possible in partnership with Hutch in Harmony, the Hutchinson NAACP Chapter and sponsors, Crow & Co. and Metropolitan Coffee. Programming from the Human Relations Office is made possible through funding from the Fund for Greater Hutch at the Hutchinson Community Foundation.
