
At 6:40 a.m. May 1, 2023, Walter Ediger, 95, passed away to his new home in heaven, with his family by his side. He left this world rejoicing, looking forward to meeting Jesus and joining his wife, Tena in their new home. Walter was born April 12, 1928, in Meade, to Henry P. and Katie (Neufield) Ediger.
He enjoyed working around vehicles, and was an automotive specialist for a body shop for many years. Walter retired from State Farm Insurance, after 15 years of service. He enjoyed working on puzzles and anything to do with woodworking. Walter would enter the Kansas State Fair periodically with his woodworking, and won numerous ribbons for his projects. He was a member of Union Valley Bible Church.
On December 14, 1948, he married Tena Doerksen, in Meade. They shared almost 71 years of marriage, before her death on October 27, 2019.
Walter is survived by: daughter, Velva Miller (David); sons, Verlyn (Clyde) Ediger (Julie) and David Ediger (Tina); brother, Elden Ediger; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Union Valley Bible Church, 1916 E. 30th St., Hutchinson, with Pastors Matt Chapin and Steve Hodgson officiating. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. at Countryside Bible Church Cemetery, Meade, KS. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Union Valley Bible Church.
