Betty Bolton Bengston, 88, the daughter of Sheldon and Glesner Bergstrand Bolton, was born on January 3, 1937, in Kirby, Oregon. &nbsp;She passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025. &nbsp;She graduated from Windom High School in 1955. While in high school, she started singing in a girl’s quartet that started her love of music and piano. Her other love was soon to be husband Virgul who wrote in her yearbook, “Best wishes to a swell girl and girlfriend.” &nbsp;

That following year, Betty was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart at Andover Lutheran Church, Windom. They established a home in McPherson and then later would move to a small farm outside of Groveland. &nbsp;This union was blessed with three children, Pamela, Connie, and Kevin.&nbsp;

After her children became school age, Betty attended some business classes and started working at Farmland Industries, McPherson. In 1979, Betty decided to move to Wichita and restart her life. She worked for Boeing Aircraft until she retired. &nbsp;

She was a devoted Christian and found a new church life at Central Community Church. She attended every Sunday and became very involved in their Sunday School and met many new friends.&nbsp;

Betty enjoyed all the various organizations and events that were available in the “big city.” She became an avid shopper and loved buying beautiful clothes and decorating her home. When she bought her first home there, she loved flowers so much that she planted her whole backyard with flowers and shrubs.&nbsp;

When her grandchildren started being born after her move, she came back to Inman to as many events as she could. She loved watching them in their school music programs or playing sports. She enjoyed having them over for the weekends and spoiling them in Wichita.&nbsp;

Betty loved to travel and went on bus tours and cruises to visit 7 countries. One of her most treasured trips was traveling to Hawaii with her mom. While there, they got to be a part of her niece’s wedding.&nbsp;

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings; Arnold Bolton, Norman Bolton, Delores Hedrich; and Louise “Dot” Sills; and a daughter in law, Kim Bengston.&nbsp;

She is survived by her three children; Pam (Darrel) Thiessen, Connie (Scott) Achilles, and Kevin (Mary Sneath) Bengston, all of Inman; 6 grandchildren, Andrea (Darren) Johnson, Mandy (Adam) Swisher, Sam (Lauren) Thiessen, Travis (Jill) Achilles, Cloe (Ross) Kronke, and Brylie (Chris) Ryan; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of friends. &nbsp;

Randy Floyd Smith, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025 at his home in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born on August 27, 1955, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Buford Duane and Ora Belle Smith. Randy graduated from high school in Haven, Kansas in 1973 and later served and retired after 20 years in the Army National Guard.

He had been a painter and fabricator for Collins’ Industries/ Mobile Tech in South Hutchinson &amp; Yoder for 19 years. Early in the 2000’s Randy moved to Wichita and went to work for Wichita Tank Wash for over 20 years, where he enjoyed an honest day’s work for honest day’s pay.&nbsp;

When he was younger, he enjoyed playing Softball for many years at Fun valley.&nbsp; Through his entire life he was an avid sports fan for the Kansas City Royals, Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawks. &nbsp; Randy also enjoyed being outdoors, especially camping on the water at Cheney Lake. &nbsp;If he couldn’t be found outside, he could be found enjoying a game of billiards. &nbsp;

Survivors include his two sons Chris Smith and wife Samantha, and Randal Smith and wife Amy all of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren Brooklyn, Randal, Cadin, Daniel, Destin, Christopher II, Austin, Hunter &amp; Brooklyn; and two great grandchildren Abrayah and Indigo all of Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Rebecca West, 65, of Hutchinson, died September 23, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 24, 1959, in Hutchinson, to John and Antonia (Vieyra) Martinez.&nbsp;

Rebecca worked as a bag maker at Hubco Inc. for 31 years. She enjoyed her labor tremendously and operated at every work station possible during her time there. Rebecca was well known for baking the best homemade pumpkin pie, apple pie, and her delicious cookies. She enjoyed music such as R&amp;B, Soul, and the Blues, with Elton John being her favorite. Rebecca carried a strength much greater than her size and was truly the epitome of “dynamite in a small package.”

On April 8, 1978, she married Ronald West in Hutchinson. They shared 27 years of marriage before his death on February 6, 2006.

Rebecca is survived by: children, Travis (Angie) West of Lawrence and Hope West of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Donavon McNeely of Lawrence, Rylan West, ReyJon Redenbaugh, and Patrick Redenbaugh, all of Hutchinson, Solar West, and Julian West of Lawrence; siblings, Linda (Daniel) Garcia, John (Shannon) Martinez, and Anna Martinez, all of Hutchinson, and Timothy (Tammy) Martinez of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Paulene M. Schrock, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend was born on December 4, 1932, in Richland, NE. She was the beloved daughter of George and Dorothy Kohler.

Paulene graduated from Columbus High School. In 1963, she settled in Hutchinson, KS where she worked at Northgate National Bank. On July 22, 1972, Paulene married Melvin Schrock at Trinity United Methodist Church. They enjoyed 52 years together. Paulene was known for her kindness and her love of Polka music.

She is survived by her son William (Mary) Ritzdorf; granddaughters, Kyrie G. Ritzdorf and Erika D. Ritzdorf; a great grandson, Cailen Drown; stepdaughters, Katheryn (Ric) Rudiger and Marjean (Alan) Meeder.

Sandra A. Woody, 72, formerly of Haven, Kansas died Friday, September 19, 2025 at Lake Point of Augusta in Augusta, Kansas.

She was born on June 11, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas. Sandy was raised in Wichita where she graduated from Wichita West High School.

She married James F. Woody. They lived in Haven, Kansas and were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Jim died on January 17, 2023. Sandy moved to Andover in May, 2024.

For several years she had been a Secretary at the Hutchinson Clinic. Sandy enjoyed doing cross stitch and crocheting.

Survivors include her two sons Keith Bulloch and wife Kimberlee of Livermore, Calif., Timothy Bulloch and wife Shawna of Andover; step-children Christie Woody of Wichita, Patricia VanArsdale of Augusta, Dale Woody of Wichita; grandchildren Kyle Bulloch, Alex Bulloch, Star Pralle; step-grandchildren Madison Romero, Katie Romero, Abby VanArsdale, Cailey Woody; and several great grandchildren.

Kenny graduated from South Haven High School, South Haven, KS. Most of his life, he worked as a truck driver for C Bar P Trucking, LLC, out of Wichita, KS and retired in 2015.

During his retirement, Kenny enjoyed fishing, gardening his own roses, and the peace of watching movies and reading his favorite books.

In 1971, he married Yvonne Yoder in Hutchinson. They later divorced. &nbsp;

Kenny is survived by: his daughters, Tamra (Thomas) Andsager, Taryn (Walter) Horbotowicz, and Kylie Rush; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; father, Dwain Yearout; and siblings, Kim, Kathy, and Keith.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Peggy; infant brother, Leonard; and daughter, Tracy Snedeker.

Kenneth 'Kenny' Patrick Yearout |1951-2025|

Delmar Ferguson, 94, passed away September 19, 2025, at his home. He was born March 25, 1931, in Liberal, Kansas, the son of Charles and Stella Ferguson. He graduated from Haviland Friends Academy in 1949. Delmar married Grace Johnson on January 18, 1951, in Wellsford, Kansas, and they were longtime Reno County residents. Delmar was the operator of the KT Oil and Fina service station in Haven until 1972 when he became the owner/operator of Ferguson Standard Service in Hutchinson that later became Ferguson Amoco on the corner of 6th and Main Streets, a full-service station. Delmar prided himself on washing all windows, checking fluids under the hood, checking tire pressures, and vacuuming the interior with every tank of gas purchased. In 2004, he sold the station with retirement plans but realized within three months that retirement wasn’t as much fun, so he began working at CarQuest in Hutchinson, delivering parts to area repair shops.

Grace passed away in January 2013, and in 2014, Delmar made the decision to retire permanently and moved to Overland Park to be near his two daughters. He quickly became involved in Sunday School at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection and volunteered every Friday morning at the church preparing bulletins for weekend services. In 2020, he began attending his son’s Friends Meeting in Indiana via Zoom and soon after, made the decision to become a member of the congregation.

In 2023, after living independently for years, Delmar moved to his final home at the Healthcare Resort of Leawood and continued to expand his circle of friends with his sweet and gentle spirit. Although he was quiet, his life was a living testimony to his dedication to Jesus Christ. Almost everyone who knew him in the last 10 years, knew it was a good day if he was asked, “How are you doing?” and responded, “I’m okay, but I’ll get over it.” He always got a laugh, and that made him smile. Throughout his life, he loved flying, obtaining his private pilot’s license while living in Haven, and he enjoyed giving first flights to friends and family above Kansas and beyond.

Delmar was a member of Gideons International for many years, served on the Hutchinson Regional Airport Board, and served on various committees as a charter member of the Friends Church of Hutchinson.

Survivors include: sons, Ron (Pam) of Winchester, IN, Dwight (Marlene) of Bella Vista, AR; daughters Angela (Pete) Allard of Raytown, MO, and Rhonda (Sam) Scofield of Overland Park, KS; six grandchildren, Karissa (Mandrae) Collins, Katrina (Zak) Caldwell, John (Hannah) Allard, Rachel (Dalton) Coady, Adam (Ariana) Ferguson, and Jarod Ferguson; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Grace; his son, Steve and daughter, Judith; brothers, Wendell, Charles, Floyd, and Willard; sisters, Ivol, Drula, and Bulah. At his request, Delmar’s body was donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in the Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 11:00 am.

In 2004, he sold the station with retirement plans but realized within three months that retirement wasn’t as much fun, so he began working at CarQuest in Hutchinson, delivering parts to area repair shops.Grace passed away in January 2013, and in 2014, Delmar made the decision to retire permanently and moved to Overland Park to be near his two daughters. He quickly became involved in Sunday School at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection and volunteered every Friday morning at the church preparing bulletins for weekend services. In 2020, he began attending his son’s Friends Meeting in Indiana via Zoom and soon after, made the decision to become a member of the congregation.In 2023, after living independently for years, Delmar moved to his final home at the Healthcare Resort of Leawood and continued to expand his circle of friends with his sweet and gentle spirit. Although he was quiet, his life was a living testimony to his dedication to Jesus Christ. Almost everyone who knew him in the last 10 years, knew it was a good day if he was asked, “How are you doing?” and responded, “I’m okay, but I’ll get over it.” He always got a laugh, and that made him smile. Throughout his life, he loved flying, obtaining his private pilot’s license while living in Haven, and he enjoyed giving first flights to friends and family above Kansas and beyond.Delmar was a member of Gideons International for many years, served on the Hutchinson Regional Airport Board, and served on various committees as a charter member of the Friends Church of Hutchinson.Survivors include: sons, Ron (Pam) of Winchester, IN, Dwight (Marlene) of Bella Vista, AR; daughters Angela (Pete) Allard of Raytown, MO, and Rhonda (Sam) Scofield of Overland Park, KS; six grandchildren, Karissa (Mandrae) Collins, Katrina (Zak) Caldwell, John (Hannah) Allard, Rachel (Dalton) Coady, Adam (Ariana) Ferguson, and Jarod Ferguson; and 15 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Grace; his son, Steve and daughter, Judith; brothers, Wendell, Charles, Floyd, and Willard; sisters, Ivol, Drula, and Bulah. Linda Lee Humphrey, 81, of Abbyville, passed away peacefully at her&nbsp;home on September 21, 2025. She was born on October 17, 1943, in&nbsp;Hutchinson, to the late Howard R. and Vara L. (Gagnebin) Reed.

Linda worked for years as a cleaner for many homes and offices in the&nbsp;Abbyville area. She also assisted her husband, Frank, with his&nbsp;business, Humphrey General Contracting. Linda found immense joy in gardening and cooking, and her pies on special occasions were a&nbsp;favorite among friends and family. However, the true center of her world was always her family: her children, grandchildren, and&nbsp;great-grandchildren.

On January 2, 1970, Linda married the love of her life, Frank L.&nbsp;Humphrey, in Port Allen, Louisiana. He survives her. She is also&nbsp;survived by their five children: Melanie Jones of Tulsa, Oklahoma;&nbsp;Deborah (Sam) Ratliff of Claremore, Oklahoma; Angela Colley Douglas of&nbsp;Hutchinson; Cris (Julie) Humphrey of Wichita; and Chad (Lyndie)&nbsp;Humphrey of Pensacola, Florida. Her legacy continues through her 19&nbsp;grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and many other extended family members. Natasha Marie Huelskamp, 29, of Delray Beach, FL, lost her hard fought 10-year battle with severe mental illness on September 18, 2025. Born October 1, 1995, in Fond-des-Blanc, Haiti, Natasha was raised by her grandmother Marie Merzeta, adopted by Tim and Angela Huelskamp of Fowler, KS, and baptized on December 5, 1997.

Natasha is survived by her parents of Hutchinson, KS; her siblings: Rebecca, Athan, and Alex; her maternal grandmother, Josephine Shawen; many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins; and her godparents, Jim &amp; Diane Woodruff. Natasha was preceded in death by her grandparents; Warren Shawen and Leroy &amp; Stellie Huelskamp.

Natasha loved small town life growing up in Fowler. Times at the Farm were special, especially helping Grandma around the house, riding the tractor with Dad, and for a real treat, the combine with Grandpa. But the absolute best times for Natasha were gathering at the Farm for the holidays with cousins, aunts, and uncles. Natasha, a gifted artist, loved her time at Fowler’s Vera Water Art Center where Martha Walker recognized and nurtured her talent in drawing and painting. That love of art continued throughout her life. Natasha also had an adventurous spirit convincing her mom and sister to go parasailing and had great plans to travel, especially to her birthplace in Haiti. In recent years, she found peace on the beaches of Florida where she enjoyed taking photos.

Her mental health journey led Natasha to become an advocate for mental health and suicide awareness. She proudly had the semicolon tattooed on her wrist not only to bring suicide awareness, but as a personal testimony and reminder of her infinite value. Natasha loved participating in the annual NAMI Walk. And amid her own trials, Natasha was known for her kind smile and encouraging words, especially for others fighting similar battles. To those struggling with their mental health, Natasha would tell you not to wait another day to get help, because you are worthy!

Natasha loved the Lord with all her heart, dearly loved each and every family member and friend, and had great goals and plans for her life. She regularly attended Mass at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Delray Beach, FL, aspired to weekly Confession, and religiously wore the brown scapular. The last thing she wanted to do was leave this world and all of us with so much life left to live.&nbsp;

Barbara graduated from McPherson High School in 1954, and received her degree in nursing from Fort Scott Community College. She worked as&nbsp; a registered nurse in Hutchinson before staying home full-time after the birth of her son, David. &nbsp;Barbara enjoyed working in her immaculate yard and tending to her flowers. &nbsp;As a natural born caregiver, she was always ready and willing to help out her family and friends. &nbsp;Above all, family meant everything to Barbara. &nbsp;She was a member of P.E.O. and First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson.

On April 4, 1959, she married Kenneth A. Keefer, in Hutchinson. &nbsp;He died January 19, 2019, after they shared almost 60 years of marriage.

Barbara is survived by: &nbsp;son, David Keefer (Susan) of Shawnee; grandchildren, Thialan Logan, Grace Keefer, Emma Keefer, Cameron Keefer, and Anna Keefer; great-grandchildren, Josie Raya, T.J. Richard Kenneth Menard, 78, died September 11, 2025, at his home in Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born October 16, 1946, in Hutchinson, to Kenneth Ivan and Patricia O’Neal (Krieg) Menard.

Richard graduated from Buhler High School in 1964. &nbsp;After graduating, he joined the United States Army, serving from 1964 to 1970, during the Vietnam War. &nbsp; Following his service, Richard worked for Mead Paper Company for over 20 years. &nbsp;

Richard is survived by: &nbsp;sister, Marsha Menard of Burrton; nephew, Derek Wiens of Wichita; great-niece, LaTosha Wiens of Arlington; and cousins, Michael Derusseau, Douglas Derusseau, and Kenneth Derusseau, all of Clyde, KS.

Edwin Guy Morford, age 89, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025. Born on February 18, 1936, in Norton, Kansas, Edwin was a devoted family man who led a life defined by hard work and a love for the open water, where he found freedom and joy gliding across the water on his jet skis.

Edwin was deeply passionate about his family, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to caring for those he loved. His adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors were evident in many ways, especially through his time spent on the water.

He retired from Bett's Rainbow Baking Company in 1998.

&nbsp;He is survived by his children: Guy Morford (Karina), Penny Lindell (Victor), Lee Morford (Brandi), Amy Miller (Jest), Julie Burgess (Jake) &nbsp;

Glen Russell Wagler, 83, died September 20, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born November 19, 1941, in Hutchinson, to John Rufus and Esther Evangeline (Krenzin) Wagler.

Glen graduated from Nickerson High School in 1960. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. &nbsp;Glen worked as a truck driver for Walmart and Dillons, and drove a school bus for USD 309 Nickerson-South Hutchinson. &nbsp;

Glen enjoyed traveling and flying, and held a private pilot’s license for a period of time. In his 60’s, he was a driver in Iraq, where he transported military personnel to their respective bases. Glen appreciated this opportunity to help out those serving during the war.

Glen is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; brothers, Charles Wagler (Lurlene) and Raymond Wagler (Sue); and nephews, Linc Wagler and Jim Wagler.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Sterling Evangelical Bible Cemetery, 3017 N. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. &nbsp;Glen worked as a truck driver for Walmart and Dillons, and drove a school bus for USD 309 Nickerson-South Hutchinson. &nbsp;Glen enjoyed traveling and flying, and held a private pilot’s license for a period of time. In his 60’s, he was a driver in Iraq, where he transported military personnel to their respective bases. Robert Eugene “Bob” Enders, 101, died July 26, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born March 8, 1924, in Lyons, to W. Elmer and Jessie Amelia (Young) Enders.

Robert graduated from Lyons High School in 1942. &nbsp;After graduation, he enrolled in Kansas State University, but was there for only one semester, as he was drafted into the United States Navy. &nbsp;Robert served in the United States Navy, in the Pacific on the U.S. S. Bountiful, from 1943-1946. &nbsp; During his lifetime, Robert enjoyed a variety of occupations. &nbsp;He worked as a farmer, butcher, helped set up deli’s for Piggly Wiggly, and was an auctioneer for Navajo Rug Auctions. &nbsp;In 2014, at the age of 90, he moved back to Kansas from New Mexico, where Robert had lived for 54 years.&nbsp;

One of his proudest high school moments was during his senior year. &nbsp;Robert was a member of a brass quintet that received a “I” rating at the state music festival. &nbsp;In addition, prior to his passing, he was the oldest living alumni of Lyons High School. &nbsp;Robert was also a charter member of the Rice County Valley Bluebirds 4-H Club. &nbsp;He enjoyed painting, woodcarving, and staying active. &nbsp;Robert was a member of McPherson Gem and Mineral Club, the Hutchinson Antique and Collectors Club, American Legion Lysle Post #68, and Eastwood Church of Christ.&nbsp;

On July 17, 1944, he married Dorothy Janssen, in Seattle, WA. &nbsp;Their marriage ended in divorce. &nbsp;Robert later married Mae, Winnie and Leslie. &nbsp;They all preceded him in death. &nbsp;

Robert is survived by: &nbsp;daughters, Cynthia Landon (Guy Colle) of Hutchinson and Carol Crites (Scott) of Calera, OK; sister, Phyllis Hughes of Lyons; brother, Paul Enders (Arlene) of Duluth, GA; grandson, Justin Enders (Laura) of Overland Park; three great-grandchildren, Walter, Eleanor, and Louis Enders; two nieces; several cousins; and numerous stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; son, Richard “Rick” Enders; son-in-law, Perry Landon, brother-in-law, Charles Hughes; and Dorothy, mother of Cynthia, Rick, and Carol.&nbsp;

Gary Wayne Carson, 77, died September 17, 2025, at his home, Hutchinson. He was born October 3, 1947, in Haviland, to Floyd Livingston and Mary Izella (Spurgeon) Carson.

Gary graduated from Mullinville High School in 1965 and attended Dodge City Community College on a basketball scholarship. He earned his masters and Ed. S (Education Specialist) from Kansas State University. Gary was a longtime teacher and boys basketball coach for Haven, Medicine Lodge, Southwestern Heights, Buhler, and Hesston. He later transitioned into athletic director and assistant principal roles; this opportunity started his career in school administration. 

Gary retired after over 45 years in education as the assistant superintendent for Hutchinson USD 308. He was past president of KIAAA (Kansas Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association) and KARSP (Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel) as well as involved in many other organizations. Gary enjoyed being the Master of Ceremonies throughout the years for multiple benefits and fundraisers. He loved to work outside, keeping up with the yardwork and gardening, as well as woodworking and fixing whatever needed repair. While commuting for schooling, Gary picked up an interest in auctions and auctioneering, practicing his auctioneering skills during the drive. He was a life-long learner and always was excited to pick up new hobbies. Gary was a great communicator, and not a great banjo picker.

In 1965, he married Carol Sue Wilkins in Mullinville. Together they had two children, Casey and Corey. She survives. Gary later married Mary Ellen “Molly” Higgins on November 20, 2009, in Texas.&nbsp;

Gary is survived by: his wife of over 15 years, Molly Carson of Hutchinson; son, Casey (Hollee) Carson of Wayne, OK; Casey’s children, Jordan, Ty and Cross; son, Corey (Tammy) Carson of Longmont, CO; Corey’s children, Ellie and Jace; stepdaughter, Kelly Robinson of Tulsa, OK and her children, Le’Aries and Lorenna; stepson, Gage Robinson (Paula Infante) of Chicago, IL, siblings, Susan (Roger) Staats of Manhattan, John (Cindy) Carson of Greensburg; Jack (Lona) Carson of Mullinville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Carson of Mullinville; many nieces and nephews; numerous friends; and a host of students.

Gary was preceded in death by: his parents, Floyd Carson and Mary Carson-Olson; and siblings, Darrel Carson and Carol Durkee.

David owned his own auto mechanic shop, “Dave’s Service and Garage”. He loved working on cars and helping his customers. In addition, David enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and racing cars, especially radio-controlled cars. He was also a member of the Kansas Army National Guard.

On December 10th, 1968, he married Goldie Ann Gates, in Anthony, KS. They shared over 49 years of marriage, prior to her death on November 27th, 2018.

David is survived by: his children, Ronnie (Sara) Brubaker and Sherry Brubaker Treece both of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, David, Haley, and Charity Treece; and sister, Geneane Winchell of Kiowa, KS.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; brothers, Kenneth and Tunnie Lee; and sister, Judy Silcott.

Dale L. Conkling, 80, of South Hutchinson, died September 17, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones and favorite music at Wesley Medical Center. He was born October 1, 1944, in Hutchinson, to Edward and Margaret (Belt) Conkling.&nbsp;

Dale graduated from Partridge Rural High School in 1962 and received his associates degree from Hutchinson Community College. He worked maintenance at Morton Salt for many years before retiring. Dale served as president of Kansas Oldtime Fiddlers, Pickers, and Singers, the Salt Creek chapter. He was a staple at the Ye Old Mill during the Kansas State Fair for many years and his artistic creations provided great entertainment for riders. For the last several years, Dale could still be found at the fair most days. Visitors could often count on seeing him as his usual gate taking tickets.

Dale had an immense love for music; he passionately played the guitar and sang for all to hear. Dale could often be found at the Reno County Farmers’ Market where he performed for many years. Some of his favorite songs to play and listen to were “Hound Dog” and “Blue Suede Shoe.”&nbsp;

Dale loved people. He could often be found engaging in conversations no matter where he went. Dales infectious smile, fun personality and genuine kindness made it easy for him to make so many connections with people.

On April 23, 2015, he married Brenda Adams at Bethany Nazarene Church. They shared 10 beautiful years of marriage before his death.&nbsp;

Dale is survived by: beloved wife, Brenda Adams-Conkling of South Hutchinson; children, Danny Conkling of McPherson, Jackie (Jeremy) Anschutz of Herington, and Ashley (Ernest) Penner of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Dustin Conkling of Hutchinson; Lucas and Matthew Anschutz of Manhattan, Serenity Penner of Hutchinson, and Kayden Anschutz of Herington; great-grandchild, Dravyn Conkling of Hutchinson; brother, Bob and Linda Conkling of Partridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Brenda Kretzer-Kowitz, 69, of Hutchinson died September 13, 2025, at Hospice House. She was born on December 2, 1955, in Hutchinson, to Bobbie L. Kretzer and Barbara Lee (Bell) Carithers.

Brenda graduated from Nickerson High School in 1972; and attended Hutchinson Community College. In 1998, she graduated from Friends University with a Bachelor of Business Management. Brenda was the assistant manager of Credit Thrift, Hutchinson, before working at Barb’s Bail Bonds as a bail bond agent for over 30 years. She later became the Reno County Treasurer, working for the county for over 12 years, prior to her retirement in 2023. Brenda was a powered parachute sport pilot as well as a certified scuba diver. She enjoyed travelling, camping and waterskiing at Beaver Lake, AR, and Wilson Lake. Brenda was the world’s best storyteller; she was able to perfectly paint the picture and describe events in great detail. She loved spending time with her dogs and parrot. Brenda was a member of Inspire Church, Hutchinson.

Brenda is survived by: her brothers, Bobbie (Kerry) Kretzer of Grove, OK, Mark (Rhoda) Kretzer and Kathy (Jerry) Shank, both of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; lifelong friend and caregiver, Phyllis Swank of Hutchinson; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Jackie Rupp-Scott; sister, Bonnie Galloway; ex-husband and friend, Eric Kowitz.

In 1998, she graduated from Friends University with a Bachelor of Business Management. Brenda was the assistant manager of Credit Thrift, Hutchinson, before working at Barb’s Bail Bonds as a bail bond agent for over 30 years. She later became the Reno County Treasurer, working for the county for over 12 years, prior to her retirement in 2023. Brenda was a powered parachute sport pilot as well as a certified scuba diver. She enjoyed travelling, camping and waterskiing at Beaver Lake, AR, and Wilson Lake. Brenda was the world’s best storyteller; she was able to perfectly paint the picture and describe events in great detail. She loved spending time with her dogs and parrot. Mary Eileen Bauer (Mooney) passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on September 13, 2025, in Dallas, Texas with her family by her side. She was born December 11, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas, the youngest of four children, to Michael J. and Margaret Mooney (Hamilton).

Mary spent her early childhood on a farm in Stafford County. What she remembered most about her time on the farm was her favorite dog, Joe, a Newfoundland, who she adored. Around the age of five, the family home was moved to Hutchinson when her father took over the family business, Hamilton Roofing. Shortly thereafter, Mary contracted polio, and after enduring very difficult treatments, she was fortunate to have survived without lasting harm.&nbsp;

Her family was a long-time member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and later joined Church of the Holy Cross in Hutchinson, Kansas. Mary attended high school at St. Teresa High School where she and her older sister, Margaret Ann were cheerleaders. After graduating in 1959, she briefly attended Webster College in St. Louis, Missouri, before moving to Kansas City with friends.&nbsp;

In August 1963, she married her beloved husband, Philip M. Bauer, and moved with him to Boston where they later welcomed their first child, Courtney (1966). In 1967, they settled in Dallas, Texas, where Phil began working for Collins Radio. During this time, they met John and Jackie Earls who became lifelong friends. When Phil’s career offered him an opportunity to live and work in Norway for an extended period in the mid-1970s, Mary adjusted to life overseas and enjoyed exploring and shopping throughout Norway and Sweden. They returned to Richardson, Texas, in 1975. In those years, Mary enjoyed playing tennis with Phil and friends, shopping, and raising Courtney.&nbsp;

Later, their family expanded, adding Ryan (1976) and Megan (1978), and they moved to Plano, Texas, where they would make their home for the next 48 years. Over the years the family thrived, thanks in large part to Mary's indomitable spirit, boundless love and unyielding devotion. She was always a fierce protector of her children and a source of strength for her family.&nbsp;

Mary always had a very close bond with her two older sisters that often involved late nights of endless laughing, mornings filled with coffee, cinnamon rolls and Sara Lee coffee cakes, and days on end of marathon shopping trips. Their bond was unparalleled. Mary was known for her quick wit and masterful timing, but when the three sisters were together, she was in her element – their humor and joy radiated to everyone around them. Mary’s laugh had a unique, unmistakable quality - bright, infectious and full of life, it could fill any room and lift the spirits of everyone nearby.

Mary had a gift for enjoying life and delighted in sharing the little pleasures she had discovered with her children and grandchildren. She did not hesitate to indulge them or herself whenever the opportunity arose. If it was a new Christmas decoration or if it was adding a splash of whole cream to a bowl of cereal, she seized the opportunity. She lived life to the fullest without regrets.

Mary often combined her enjoyment of shopping with her deep love of the Christmas holiday season. Those who knew her, undoubtedly knew that the magic of Christmas and the joy of the season was one of her great passions. She loved nothing more than decorating the house for Christmas, baking endless holiday treats and painstakingly fulfilling her family’s wish lists. Mary carried with her the magic of Christmas morning and made sure to give her children and grandchildren that same sense of childlike delight. &nbsp;She worked tirelessly to make every Christmas the best in every way.

Mary was a devoted wife to Phil for 62 years, a loving mother and a cherished grandmother. She prioritized family above all else. Her generosity and kindness knew no limits. As the years went on, she experienced a difficult physical decline that she endured with courage, grace and extraordinary resilience. Despite much physical difficulty, she rarely complained. In her final days, when the intensive care doctor came to deliver the results of a critical test, Mary looked at him and said softly, “You should go home – you must be tired."&nbsp; He held her hand and was visibly touched by her kindness. Mary was selfless to the very end, always more concerned with the comfort and needs of those around her than with her own.&nbsp;

She leaves behind her husband, Philip; her daughters, Courtney (Matthew) and Megan (Suzanne); her son, Ryan (Kate); grandchildren, Zoey, Siobhan, Graeme, Eiley, August and Mae; her sister, Margaret Ann Hohl; nieces, nephews and other relatives in Texas and Kansas, brother-in-law, Michael Bauer (Jeanette) and lifelong friends, John and Jacqueline Earls.

Preceding her in death are her parents, sister, Helen Louise Mullen, and brother, Michael Mooney.

Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

William Lee “Bill” Baker, 79, of Hutchinson, died September 13, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born September 27, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Edward W. and Vera M. (Foster) Baker.

Bill graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1963, received two bachelor degrees in History and Latin American Studies from the University of Kansas in 1967, and a bachelor’s degree in Education from Wichita State University in 1975. He served in the United States Peace Corps in the Amazon Jungle of Brazil for over two years before embarking upon his career as a teacher – a career that spanned 33 years – at Sherman Junior High, Central Junior High, and the final 23 years as a 5th grade teacher at Wiley Elementary School. Two of those years were spent as an exchange teacher in Sydney, Australia. Bill’s passion for teaching and helping children continued after his retirement with teaching stints at Central Christian Schools and short-term mission trips to Brazil with fellow members of his church, Grace Bible Church. He also enjoyed listening to jazz and folk music and was a history buff; however, what Bill enjoyed most were his children, grandchildren, and friends all across the world.

Bill is survived by: his daughters, Katie Givens (Justin) of Americus, Kristin Peterman Childs (Chad Childs) of Goddard, Megan Baker of Overland Park, Denice Naquin (Andy Shreve) of Lafayette, LA; grandchildren, Isla Givens, Sam Peterman, Elliott Peterman, Gracie Childs, Jada Childs, Trey Childs, Lillian Garrison; bonus children, Jerri Carroll, Vicki Keck, Patti Meier, Scott Compton; sister, Carol Hammond of Longmont, CO; brothers and sisters in-law; cousins; nieces and nephews; and many other family members of the heart.

Cremation has taken place and a private family inurnment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Danny Lee Pifer, 73, passed away on September 14, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. Danny was born on June 27, 1952, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Frank L. and Betty J. (Benbrook) Pifer.

Danny graduated from Buhler High School in 1972. After graduating he was one of the last Reno County residents to be drafted into the Unites States Army in 1972. Danny was honorably discharged in April 1974. He was a dedicated employee of Dillons Bakery for 32 years – with the majority of those years working as a receiving clerk. After retiring from the bakery, he became Grandpa Daycare for his grandchildren. On May 27, 1972, Danny married Debra Wisby in Hutchinson. They were married for 53 years. He was a member of the Bakery and Confectionery Union. Danny loved spending time with his family, nieces and nephews, especially his children and grandchildren. As a family they enjoyed many family vacations, but he had a love for the Colorado mountains and trips to the casino with his family. Danny also enjoyed his yearly trips to Las Vegas and monthly luncheons with his retiree friends.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Pifer.

Danny is survived by his wife, Debra; a son, Jason L. Pifer; daughter, Heather L. (Dylan Thomas) Pifer; sister, Sherry (Dawayne) Storm; brothers, Bobby Pifer, Jerry Pifer, Terry Pifer and Kenny Pifer; and grandchildren, Davin L. Pifer, Preston J. Rothe and Emmett J. Rothe.
