HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Monthly infusions made from blood products help keep 27-year-old McCartney Johnson alive.
McCartney was diagnosed in infancy with hypogammaglobulinemia, an immune disorder that prevents his body from making enough antibodies. He can only get them from volunteer donors. McCartney lives every day to the fullest and is always grateful to those who give blood. Celebrate life with McCartney and donate at the annual blood drive held in his honor.
WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 14, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
WHERE: St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E Fifth Ave.
“While we can’t individually thank those who donate the blood that creates the treatment McCartney receives, we can continue to pay it forward to help be sure blood is available when he and others need it,” said Stephanie Haas, McCartney’s mom.
This October, to encourage donors to fall into the habit of donating, the Red Cross is saying thank you with a Gift Card. All those who come to give blood, platelets or AB Elite plasma Oct. 1-20, 2023, will receive a $15 Amazon.com Gift Card** by email.*
