SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash near 37th Street North and Hoover Road in rural Sedgwick County, according to a social media report from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.
Early Tuesday, the Wichita Police Department was conducting follow-up in the area related to an attempt to locate a missing person, 23-year-old Bryce Wilks of Wichita. Investigators had gathered information through cell phone technology that led officers to the area.
At approximately 6:10 p.m., Wichita police officers located a crashed vehicle occupied by Wilks.
According to the preliminary investigation, Wilks was driving eastbound on 37th Street North when he lost control of the vehicle and struck multiple trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office
