The Wesley is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for full-time and part-time positions on first and second shifts in Hutchinson.

Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Schedule: Full time or part time, first and second shifts
Location: Hutchinson, Kansas

The LPN is responsible for assisting with planning and directing nursing care for residents, supervising nursing personnel and helping ensure quality care consistent with The Wesley’s mission.

Personnel responsibilities include:

  1. Provide positive leadership and supervision of nursing personnel.
  2. Assist with the orientation and training of newly hired personnel.
  3. Supervise CMAs while medications are administered to residents.
  4. Evaluate completion of tasks assigned to CNAs and CMAs.
  5. Participate in employee evaluations and corrective actions with the charge nurse and Director of Nursing.

Resident care responsibilities include:

  1. Assist with developing, updating and carrying out resident plans of care.
  2. Communicate established care plans and changes to team members.
  3. Observe, assess and report changes in residents’ behavior or physical condition to physicians and designated contacts.
  4. Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
  5. Ensure procedures for medication and supply control are followed.
  6. Receive, document, carry out and follow up on physician orders.
  7. Serve as a positive role model for staff, residents and families.
  8. Assist with planning and implementing therapeutic individual and small-group activities.
  9. Provide and direct nursing care in accordance with regulations, standards and The Wesley policies.
  10. Perform CNA, CMA or other nursing duties when needed to meet a resident’s individualized plan of care.

General duties include:

  1. Supervise CNAs and CMAs in providing personalized care to residents.
  2. Complete admission nursing assessments and discharge summaries.
  3. Coordinate with team members, departments, unit coordinators and physicians to ensure successful resident transfers.
  4. Provide reports to incoming team members during shift changes.
  5. Ensure physicians are notified of changes in residents’ conditions and that physician care plans are followed.
  6. Attend care planning sessions for assigned residents when possible.
  7. Respond to emergency calls throughout the Wesley Towers complex as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Must be currently licensed as an LPN or RN in the state of Kansas.
  2. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
