HUTCHINSON, Kan. — As of 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, the Evergy outage map still shows over 1,500 Reno County Evergy customers without power.
According to a Monday night statement from the utility, power has been restored to over 90% of the 106,000 customers affected by severe storms in Kansas and Missouri. More than 1,600 personnel are working on power restoration. Evergy crews, contractors, and Liberty Utilities are assisting with the work. Extensive tree damage is being cleared by 175 vegetation crews.
For customers who are still without power, most communities will be fully restored by Tuesday evening. In communities where storms caused the most damage -- Hutchinson, Newton, areas of Johnson County (Prairie Village, Shawnee, Overland Park), and North Kansas City (Parkville, Weatherby Lake, Gladstone, Riverside) – some customers may be without power until Wednesday evening. Crews will continue to work until everyone’s power is back on.
