HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The price tag for the remodel of the 2nd floor of the Peel Center at Hutchinson Community College is going up. On the agenda for Thursday's Board of Trustees meeting is a revision to the bid for that project.
The administration recommends that the board overturn its approval of Harman Huffman’s original bid of $1,287,000 as presented at the December 8, 2022 Board of Trustees meeting and accept the revised low bid from Harman Huffman for the project in the amount of $1,429,000.
The reason for the increase is that the college was notified by Buck Plumbing that an error had been made in the HVAC bid for the Peel Center remodel.
The project will be partially funded by an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) through the Kansas Department of Commerce ($999,786.00) and the remaining portion through capital improvement funds.
The Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees will hold their regular meeting on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Justice Theater, Shears Technology Center, Hutchinson Community College at 1300 North Plum, Hutchinson.
