Susan L. Corn, 69, of Inman, died July 26, 2024, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was born March 15, 1955, in Ellsworth, to Fred and Edith (Meador) Corn.
Susan graduated from Bushton High School in 1973 and obtained her associates degree from Kansas State University in 1975. She enjoyed volunteering at Living Independently in Northwest Kansas Inc. (LINK Inc.) in Hays. Susan worked for 10 years at LINK as a resource librarian serving people with disabilities. In 1999, Susan received the J.C. Penney Gold Rule Award for her work with LINK, which is an award given to encourage and support volunteer service in the community.
Susan was also a devoted member of United Methodist Church of Bushton.
As Susan’s health deteriorated, she was a resident of Pleasant View Home in Inman. There she found a caring family that supported her needs. Susan’s family would like to thank everyone at Pleasant View Home for their support, care, and concern. She loved her extended family and her room was covered with photos of nieces, nephews, and the “grands” that joined the family. A highlight of the year for Susan was the “Corn Christmas” and the excitement of all the little ones.
Susan is survived by: brother, Roger (Deanne) Corn, Lindsborg; sister, Carolyn (Rollin) Abernethy, Laramie Wyoming; sister-in-law, Sheila Corn, Inman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Corn.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Pleasant View Home, 108 N. Walnut St., Inman with chaplain Michael D’Alessio officiating. Private family burial will take place at Bushton Cemetery, Bushton, KS.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Pleasant View Home, Inman, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
