MaryAnn Geist Potter entered her heavenly home on April 15, 2023 at Crown Healthcare and Rehab Center in Harrisonville, MO. She was the daughter of Harlen J. Geist and Elsie I. Beatty Geist, and was born on December 6, 1926 in Sterling, (Rice County), Kansas. At age 15 she gave birth to a daughter who was adopted by Roy and Beatrice Hobbs.
After graduating from Luray High School, Luray, Kansas, she married Glenn Flickinger. They had 3 children, William, Richard and Laura. Later they divorced. On June 10, 1961, MaryAnn married Bud Potter. They were happily married until the time of his passing 20 years later.
She was part owner of D.C. Potter, Inc. and was manager for many years. MaryAnn was past Matron of Eastern Star, past Royal Matron Order of Amaranth, past president Social Order of Beauceant in Hutchinson, Newton, and Wichita. From 1984-1985 she served as Grand Guardian, Kansas International Order of Job’s Daughters and Supreme Finance Committee, International Order of Job’s Daughters.
In 1990 she was reunited with her daughter, Karen “Sue” Bedosky. In 2016 she moved to Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, MO to be near her daughter.
MaryAnn is survived by: her brother, Melvin Geist, Greeley, CO; children, Karen Sue Hobbs Bedosky, Harrisonville, MO, Richard Flickinger (Wendy), Abbyville, Laura Mae Flickinger Reger; and many grandchildren and great-children.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Flickinger.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2023, at Elliott Chapel, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. The casket will remain closed.
