MANHATTAN, Kan. — A pair of early runs staked Manhattan to a lead it would not relinquish and Hutchinson's season ended Tuesday with an 8-2 loss to the eventual regional champion at Eisenhower Sports Complex.
The Salthawks loaded the bases late, but were unable to capitalize. Hutchinson ends its season at 6-15.
Manhattan went on to defeat Topeka High 11-7 in the nightcap to win the regional title. The 6A state tournament is in Fort Scott May 27 and 28.
