HAVILAND, Kan. — On Monday, Barclay College announced dates for its newest musical production, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. With music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice, this popular show will keep your toes tapping and have you dancing in your seats.
Performances will be April 12, 13, 19, and 20 at 7:00 p.m. and April 14 and 21 at 3:00 p.m. Center section tickets are $15 each, and the left and right section tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. A group rate of $8.00 is available for groups of 15 or more (contact Barclay College for more information). Tickets are available online at barclaycollege.edu/joseph. Tickets will also be available at the door one hour before showtime until sold out.
Director Randi Shetley is excited to bring this spectacular musical back to the stage. “When the Ross-Ellis Center for Arts and Ministry first opened on the Barclay College campus in 2017, I was asked to guest direct the first show in this new building. I knew immediately that ‘Joseph’ would be a great opening production. With ten productions under our belt over the past seven years, I feel that this is a great time to reprise this high-energy show. We have learned so much and have taken our productions to a much higher level than we ever could have imagined. This musical will continue that tradition of excellence.”
Choreographer Traci Ballard has created eight original dance numbers this semester. Audiences will love the variety of dance in this show: jazz, country, swing, ballet, 1960s go-go, tap, and more!
Kim Stewart, vocal director, has been working with the ensemble and soloists to bring beautiful sound to the show. The vocalists are incredibly talented! Newcomer Zane Hagar (Greensburg, KS) will wow the audience as Joseph with his excellent vocal and acting skills. The role of narrator has been split between four actresses: Teagan Summers (La Junta, CO), Trinity Garcia (Protection, KS), Liz Johnson (Haviland, KS), and Abby Penna (Wichita, KS). The harmonies they create are absolutely angelic.
The Barclay College creative “dream team” also includes Casey Roberts (technical director), Shane Shetley (set design), Marki Sulzbach (lighting design), and Deb Folkerts, Marilyn Giles, Wendy Hayden, and Maggie Marsh (costume design team). BC Theatre once again goes above and beyond with over 50 cast members, incredible set design, and more than 120 costumes!
As always, this show is family-friendly and fun for all ages!
