HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson police released information on the arrest of two people connected with a shooting in the city in June.
According to the release, on June 11th, 2023, at approximately 2:00 AM, officers with the Hutchinson Police Department were dispatched to the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in reference to a 24-year-old male arriving at the facility with a gunshot wound to his leg. It was determined that the shooting occurred in the 400 block of Liberty Street in Hutchinson during what was described as an attempted armed robbery. The victim was seated in his vehicle when he was approached by a male suspect who demanded undisclosed property from him. As the victim was trying to flee, the suspect produced a handgun and fired it, striking the victim in his leg. The victim was transferred to a Wichita Hospital and has since been treated and released.
The subsequent investigation revealed that as the victim was parked in the street a suspect vehicle pulled up behind him and a male suspect got out of the passenger door and approached the victim’s vehicle. Evidence suggests that the incident was planned and a second male suspect in the vehicle was implicated as well.
On August 7th, 2023, Jason Gleason Jr, BM/22, Hutchinson, Kansas and Jacob Terry, WM/19, Hutchinson, Kansas were both arrested for 1) Attempted 1st Degree Murder 2) Aggravated Robbery 3) Aggravated Battery
Both suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
