Kan. woman hospitalized after semi rear-ends an SUV

PRATT COUNTY—A Great Bend woman was injured in an accident just after 1 p.m. Thursday in Pratt County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1995 Freightliner semi driven by James Griffith, 72, Iuka, was southbound on U.S. 281 just south of McClellan Street in Iuka.

The semi rear-ended a 2016 Chevy Equinox driven by Guy Knipe, 71, Great Bend, who was attempting to turn onto Summer Street

EMS transported a passenger in the SUV identified as Dorothy Piland, 91, Great Bend to the hospital in Pratt. Knipe had a minor injury. He and Griffith were not transported for treatment. All three were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
