HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A small home in Hutchinson caught fire Wednesday morning. The same home also suffered a fire in mid-December and is now considered uninhabitable.

According to a release from the Hutchinson Fire Department (HFD), crews were sent to the 400 block of Howard Street around 3:45 a.m. for a possible structure fire.

Crews were faced with heavy black smoke from the front entry of the building. HFD was able to access and extinguish the fire. Heavy fire and smoke was coming out of the front of the residence.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The investigation is not ruling out an electrical issue as the cause.

Evergy, Kansas Gas, the Hutchinson Police Department, Reno County EMS and 1-800-BOARDUP assisted at the scene.
