HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will take action on a new 2022 collective bargaining agreement with the union representing its police officers when it meets in regular session Tuesday.
Some of the significant changes to the new contract include consistent language across all bargaining units that better articulates the city statutory management rights. It also defines what is acceptable “FOP business” and who has the managerial authority to approve matters.
Other language deals with officers' probationary period, promotional assessment and grievance procedures, negotiations on lost wages due to action by the city, base and overtime pay, and the wage scale — which will provide a movement of 6% for police officers and 4% for police sergeants.
The council will also go into executive session to discuss 2022 contract negotiations with the other bargaining units.
Tuesday's meeting begins at 9 a.m. at the Hutchinson city offices.
