NICKERSON, Kan. — The Nickerson City Council approved an amendment to an ordinance regarding Sunday beer sales during Monday’s meeting. The revision moves up the time you can purchase beer on Sunday from 12 noon to 9 a.m. It won't happen right away as the change must be published and then a public hearing held before the council can take final action.
Also Monday, the council denied a request to close a portion of Speare Street for now. The street bisects the city ball fields and the park. It will also split the new disc golf course. But the council decided the street needed to stay open.
The next meeting for the Nickerson City Council will be Aug. 23 when they hold a public hearing on exceeding the revenue neutral rate for the 2022 budget. That hearing is at 5:30 p.m. with a public hearing on the 2022 budget to follow at 5:45 p.m.
