Mrs. Phyllis Loeta McNaul, 98 of McPherson, KS, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Garden Villas in Lenexa, Kansas.
She was born in Hoisington, KS, on August 27, 1926, the daughter of Roy Elmer Hoffman and Opal Virginia (Mummey) Hoffman - Dexter.
Phyllis attended Nickerson grade schools and graduated from Reno County High School, Nickerson, Kansas in 1944. Following high school, Phyllis attended and graduated from Grace Hospital and she received her Registered Nurses degree in 1947 under the U.S. Cadet Nurse Core program.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Charles William"Bill" McNaul on August 24, 1949 at Hutchinson, KS. He died on November 9, 1986.
Through the years Phyllis worked as a Registered Nurse for Grace Hospital in Hutchinson, KS, and Memorial Hospital in McPherson, KS. Throughout her career, she was a supervisor of the Medical Floor, including the Polio and Obstetrics wards until her retirement in 1993 after 46 years of nursing.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Fournier of Overland Park, KS; son, Brent (Sandy) McNaul of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Brandon McNaul (Selena), Nathan Fournier, Chad Fournier, Lauren Bogner (Ethan) and William McNaul; three great grandchildren, Harper McNaul, Leo Fournier and Vienne Fournier and one on the way; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of great friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles W. "Bill" McNaul; sons, Robert Scott McNaul and Gary Alan McNaul; a brother, Leroy Hoffman and sisters, Eunice Bartcher, Dolores Mowrey, Betty Golden and step-father, Bill Dexter.
She also volunteered her time with the McPherson County Food Bank, Save-N-Share, Lord's Diner, and delivered Friendship Meals. She enjoyed playing Bridge and spending time with her friends and family.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson. Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph's Altar Society where she served her church in many capacities.
Phyllis was a life member of both the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 Ladies Auxiliary, McPherson Opera House and Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson with Fr. Michael Kerschen officiating.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson, KS.
