VALLEY CENTER, Kan. — The Newton Railers started off their high school football season at Valley Center Friday night. Newton lost to the Hornets 20-6.
Dai'mont Mucker scored a 90-yard touchdown at kickoff for the Hornets.
The Railers scored their first touchdown of the game on a long drive to trail Valley Center 14-7 before halftime.
The Hornets added one more touchdown in the second half. The last nine minutes remained scoreless for both teams.
Newton had 120 yards of total offense. Up next, the Railers will play at Hutchinson next week.
