GODDARD, Kan. — Add another area lake to the growing list of those infested with blue green algae. Lake Afton near Goddard was added to the list this week by the KDHE.
Marion County Lake and Harvey County East Lake are lakes still under warnings while Buhler City Lake and Marion Reservoir are under a watch.
All contact with the water should be avoided where there are warnings. Fishing is safe if they are cleaned properly. In a watch, you should have limited contact with the water where algae is present. Swimming and skiing are discouraged.
The algae is toxic to pets and livestock and can cause illness in humans.
