HARVEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating the death of a man found in a home east of Hesston died of an accidental drug overdose, according to Harvey County spokesperson Kyle McCaskey.
On March 30, the Sheriff’s Office and EMS were called to the home in the 8000 block of North West Road after two acquaintances found two men unresponsive in a home.
Emergency responders found one man dead inside the home. An investigation determined Ardell Jones, 48, of Newton, died of a drug overdose.
Emergency responders also found a 55-year-old man in critical condition due to drug use inside the home. Life-saving measures were performed on scene prior to the man being transported to an area hospital. He has since been released from the hospital. He is a resident of the home.
