HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Another Hutchinson community blood drive begins with the American Red Cross on Friday.
"The Hutchinson community blood drive starts on Friday, Aug. 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Park Place Christian Church," said Tiffany Davison with the American Red Cross. "Then we are also on Monday, Aug. 5 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Wednesday, Aug.7 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church."
The need is always great in the summer months.
"We continue to stress that blood and platelet donors are critically needed right now to support life saving transfusions this summer," Davison said. "You know, full summer calendars, holiday plans often prevent donors from being able to donate. We definitely could use the support to help finish off the summer."
Starting Aug. 1, donors will receive $20 in Amazon credit by email. You can sign up now for a donation time.
"The Blood Donor app is perfect for doing that," Davison said. "Also, they can also go to Redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. We definitely could use some more appointments."
The need for blood doesn’t take a summer vacation, so if you've missed your regular appointment, this week's drive is a good opportunity to get back on schedule.
