Police: Attempted Kansas kidnapping "falsely reported"

BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating an alleged attempted kidnapping in Hoisington say it was "falsely reported."

According to a statement from Hoisington Police on Friday,  "During the course of the investigation it was discovered the information was falsely reported and the case is concluded."

"You have to take these all seriously, and we did," said Chief of Police Kenton Doze. "But we needed to re-interview the victim, and he came in this morning and talked with us."

The police thanked the public for all the tips and information regarding this case.

BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating an alleged attempted kidnapping in Hoisington.

Just after 6p.m. Wednesday, a report was made to the Hoisington Police Department in reference to an attempted kidnapping in the 800 Block of W 2nd Street, according to a media release.

The victim told police as he was walking he was approached by subjects in a white van. The victim reports a man in the van attempted to force him into the vehicle, although the victim was able to free himself and run.

The vehicle is described as a white full size van with peeling paint, a sliding rear passenger door and occupied by at least two subjects.

The van reportedly left Hoisington on W 2nd Street after the incident occurred.

Police asked anyone with video surveillance or cameras in the area of W 2nd Street in Hoisington at or around the time of this incident to also contact the Police Department.
