Eva C. Huntsman, 79, went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2024, in Kyle, Texas. Eva was born on April 19, 1944, to Merle E. and Doris Bishop Thompson in Sterling, Kansas. Following graduation from Sterling High School in 1962, she moved to Topeka, where she met and married her husband, John Huntsman, on February 3, 1967. They remained devoted to each other until John’s death in 2015.
Shortly after their two children were born, the family moved to Lenora, Kansas where John worked for the Rural Telephone Service Company from 1971 to 1992. While in Lenora, Eva was involved in various community activities, her children’s school activities, and her church. Always willing to play a good board or card game, she also enjoyed crocheting, playing guitar, and spending time in Bible study in her spare time. She was very independent and proud of her children and granddaughters and was always willing to sit down for a chat.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, two brothers – Philip and Neil Thompson, and two sisters – Leah Currie and Twila Price.
Eva is survived by her children, daughter Debbie Duffey and husband Kevin, Buda, Texas, and son Dean Huntsman, Wichita, Kansas; two granddaughters, Kailyn and Kelsey Duffey; four sisters-in-law, Karen Thompson, Hutchinson, Kansas, Peggy Seele, Deer Park, Texas, Judy Carlson, Topeka, Kansas, and Deanna Kovar, St. Marys, Kansas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave, Hutchinson, Kansas in the memorial prayer garden. Arrangements made by Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.
