Helen Marie Wilson, 77, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, KS.
Helen was born on October 27, 1945 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Merriel and Marie (Dueser) Kountz. Helen attended St. Teresa’s Catholic High School, in Hutchinson, and graduated in 1963. She loved reading, going down to the dining hall for coffee, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed collecting elephants, gardening with rosebushes and houseplants. On April 16, 1966, Helen married Richard Lee Wilson in Hutchinson. They were married 33 years before he passed away on February 2, 2000.
Survivors include her son, Timothy Wilson of Columbus, OH; daughter, Catherine Wilson of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Gauge Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Christina Schoepf and Leia Schoepf; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Luna and Sylas; brother, Jack (Nancy) Kountz; and sister, Carol (Kenneth) Ratzlaff.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; brother, James Kountz and sisters, Marilyn Merkel and Jane Bloomer.
Rosary will be held at 10:00 A.M. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at St Teresa's Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th, Hutchinson, KS, with Father Matt Glazier officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS.
