CHEROKEE COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 4:30p.m. Friday in Cherokee County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2015 Ford Taurus driven by Anna L Coberley, 21, Columbus, was northbound on U.S. 69 Alternate two miles north of Kansas 66 Highway.
The driver swerved left of center to avoid a northbound 2005 Buick Rendezvous that had slowed to turn onto a driveway on the west side of the highway. The Ford struck the drivers side of the Buick and a southbound 2014 Nissan Altima driven by Madison M. Macias, 21, Joplin, head-on.
EMS transported Coberley and Macias to Freeman Health. The driver of the Buick Shawna S. Novack, 45, Galena, was not injured. All three drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
