Carolyn Ann Anschutz, 80, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Pleasant View Home in Inman, KS. Carolyn was born April 7, 1944, in Great Bend, KS, the daughter of Lowell and Florence (Schrepal) Gaunt. On August 5, 1966, she married Wayne A. Anschutz in Great Bend, KS, to this union they were blessed with two children, Joy and Loren.
Carolyn graduated from Great Bend High School in 1962 and attended Hutchinson Community College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in teaching from Emporia State University Teachers College. Carolyn was a 3rd grade teacher for Little River Grade School and was a substitute teacher for many school districts in Reno County. Carolyn was much loved by family and friends. She loved watching and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church where she enjoyed church activities and helping in the church nursery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Florence, and her husband, Wayne.
Carolyn is survived by her two children, Joy (Rick) Skinner and Loren (Michelle) Anschutz all of Hutchinson; brothers, David (Paul) Gaunt, Terry (Glenda) Gaunt, and Steven (Glenna) Gaunt all of Great Bend; sister, Sue Ellen (Jack) Lee of Meeker, OK; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jake) Murray, Brenna Skinner, Dustin Anschutz, and Alexis Skinner; three great grandchildren, Sophia, Abigail, and Benjamin Murray; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Riverside Baptist Church, 1100 W. 21st Ave., Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Richard Haley officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS. Burial will take place in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be given to Gentiva Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
