HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Boating and fishing are still somewhat limited but Harvey County East Lake is open for water activities again after the toxic algae warning was downgraded to a watch.
That comes from the latest update from KDHE on blue-green algae. Lake Afton near Goddard and Marion Reservoir are still on the list of warnings along with Colwich City Lake.
Cheney Reservoir is also under watch status for the week. Marion County Lake has been removed from all advisories.
Exposure to high levels of blue-green algae and their toxins can cause diarrhea, nausea or vomiting; skin, eye or throat irritation; and allergic reactions or breathing difficulties. It can also be fatal to livestock and especially pets.
