NEWTON, Kan. — The propane hazard in Newton has been mitigated and crews turned the buildings back over to business owners and cleared the road, according to Newton Fire and EMS.
On Wednesday morning, fire crews responded to a leak from a 500-gallon propane tank at Forest Products, in the 700 block of South Spencer.
The road was closed and firefighters begun evacuating about a 1/2-mile radius around the site.
There are no reports of injury.
