MCPHERSON COUNTY — After highly pathogenic avian influenza was found in birds in McPherson and Rice County earlier this month, the Kansas Department of Agriculture is seeking to contact anyone with flocks within a six to ten mile range of the infection.

McPherson County officials asked last week for bird owners to please call if your home/farm sits in this area: from Comanche Road (to the south) to Pawnee Road (to the north) between I-135 (to the east) and 31st Road (to the west).

The area does include the towns of McPherson, Conway, Windom and Groveland. It does NOT include Little River, Lindsborg, or Inman.

If you have questions about highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), go to www.agriculture.ks.gov/AvianInfluenza or call KDA at the toll-free number: 833-765-2006.
