Esta Elizabeth Martin |1949-2024|

Posted Jan 22, 2024 10:12 AM

Esta Elizabeth Martin, 74, died January 17, 2024, at her home.  She was born December 23, 1949, in McCook, NE, to Joseph Harry Price and Mary Ann (Matson) Price.

Esta was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, especially for others, watching cooking shows, soap operas, game shows, and the 700 Club on television.  There was always a crossword puzzle near at hand.  She was a ‘people person’ and ‘did not know a stranger’.  Esta would go to the grocery store and spend hours visiting with other shoppers and only have two shopping bags of groceries when she left the store.  She loved to visit with anyone, at anytime and anywhere.  Esta’s greatest source of joy was her family, especially the grandchildren and her great-grandchild. She attended their programs and events.  They, in turn, would go to ‘Grandma’ or ‘Great-grandma’ when they needed someone to confide in or to seek words of encouragement and support.

On September 1, 1995, she married Charles ‘Charlie’ L. Martin, in Hutchinson, KS.  He died July 31, 2015.

Esta is survived by:  her children, Tom Crabtree of Eau Claire, WI, LeeAnn (Buddy) Whisler of Hutchinson, KS, and Paul (Robbin Williams) Crabtree of Inman, KS; granddaughter, Alexis Stouffer; great-grandson, Jersey Alpers; great-granddaughter, Albany Alpers; great-grandson, Bronx Troyer; step-grandchildren, Jarrett Blakey and Breanna Blakey; and five step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; husband; and grandchildren, Chris Alpers, Kyleen Alpers, and LeeAllen Alpers.
