James “Jim” Samuel Adams, 79, of McPherson, KS, and formerly of Wichita, KS, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, surrounded by family at Salina Regional Medical Center.  He was a retired plant manager for Spartech Plastics, previously Plains Plastics.

He was born on November 17, 1943, in Ralston, OK, the son of Oral Henry and Sally Jane (Wheeler) Adams.  He graduated from high school in Shidler, OK.  On December 17, 2004, Jim was united in marriage to Helen Louise Martin in Wichita. KS.

Jim was a United States  Army veteran, serving as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson.

In his spare time, Jim loved playing golf and spent countless hours with his dear friends at McPherson Country Club.   

Survivors include: his loving wife, Helen of the home; a daughter, Rebecca “Becka” Leiblie (Joe) of Udall, KS; a son, Brad Adams (Mary) of Derby, KS; siblings, Lillian Murray of Lamar, AR, Ava Blanchard of Adair, OK, Robert “Bud” Adams (Betty) of Udall, KS, Aubry “Leroy” Adams (Janette) of Udall, KS, Nadene Clayton (David) of Indianapolis, IN, Darlene Sullivan (Mark) of Indianapolis, IN, and Patricia McElhany (John Everhart) of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren, Mitcheal Adams (Emily), Melayna Adams, Derek Leiblie, and Whitney Leiblie; three great-grandchildren, Mia Adams, Cole Adams, and Cade Adams; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Eileen Hopkins, Iva Sory, and Violet Adams.

A Rosary will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson, with Fr. Benjamin Shockey officiating.  The final resting place will be at the Resurrection Cemetery, Wichita, KS, at 2:00 PM.  Military Honors provided by Kansas Army National Guard.
